From 17/02/2025 to 21/02/2025 The Staff were first rate and could not do enough for us. The Accommodation was also first rate. The Food both Breakfast and Dinner was excellent. Overall I would rate this hotel as one of the best I have had the pleasure to stay at.

ACCOMMODATION We were lucky in that we got a free upgrade to a two-floor suite. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of storage, a slightly-creaky but comfortable four-poster bed and a lovely stained-glass window. The the tired furniture needed revamping or replacing. The lounge area contained some chairs, a single bed and TV with fitted corner units. The bathroom, whilst having nicely decorative porcelain, was spacious and had a nice jacuzzi bath but smelled musty/damp. The hotel website mentioned providing bathrobes, but there were none. Overall, the accommodation was clean. RESTAURANT/BAR The food was very nice (I had the duck and my partner had pheasant), freshly cooked and nicely presented. Both the restaurant and bar were nicely decorated, with the bar area having a lovely open fire. Although service in the restaurant was good, the bar was unstaffed for a significant amount of time with a small queue of people waiting to be served. The cooked breakfast was excellent, but the continental breakfast lacked variety. GROUNDS Well worth a walk around the extensive and beautiful gardens - lots of secluded areas and seating spots. OVERALL Very friendly and helpful staff, glad we stayed, but needs some money spending on it.

Have visited many times in the past but standards have fallen of late. The carpet from the bar leading into the dining room was dirty, the dining chairs allocated were not clean and two wine glasses had to be replaced because they had been used and left with traces of red wine. The meals in these trying times are understandably more measured but quality must be maintained.. A beautiful welcoming venue let’s hope that this was just an off day.

The rooms which we were allocated were badly in need of total refurbishment. We don't think the rooms have been refurbished since the hotel was built 42 years ago, it is a shame since the area is outstanding. We will be visiting again but we will not stay at the Gibbon Bridge As a last thought all of the prices at the Gibbon Bridge are exorbitant.

Our second weekend break this year at the Gibbon Bridge Hotel. We had Room 14 again, which is larger than average with it's own parking space. Bed very comfortable, and towels while and fluffy. Thankfully, towels where on the heated towel rail and not on the bed! Why do most Accommodations do this..... I'm on holiday, not staff 😂 Food. Breakfast was excellent, and buffet style. Waiters served tea/coffee and toast made to order. No faff with the usual hotel toaster, where you lose the will to live waiting for it to rotate, and it always needs another go. We had Dinner both nights, and food was excellent. Thanks to Alex for great bar service, and Phil for looking after us (we helped with his homework 😂😂)

Enjoyed our second time here for a musical afternoon tea. Just a delight all round, tasty food, wonderful pianist, attentive service throughout and idyllic surroundings. Ideal treat for anyone celebrating a birthday, anniversary or just fancy a treat.

Having read the reviews here, we were looking forward to our two night stay, however, left feeling hugely let down and disappointed. The photos of bedrooms on the hotel website bore no relation at all to the two rooms we were allocated. Those photos depicted colourful styled rooms. We were allocated room 8, a ‘greige’ dull, extremely old fashioned room and my husband and I laughed when we first saw it. Is this what we had paid close to £300 for our two night treat away. We both said we couldn’t stay in there, and tried calling reception. Phone didn’t work. So we traipsed back down and asked to be allocated a different room, there being only a suite available for our two night stay. We paid a small amount extra to ‘upgrade’. Room 12 was much larger but equally depressing with old fashioned tired furniture, a stained carpet and a bed which we had to re-make because the duvet was bunched up on one side inside the cover. The staff were all very pleasant, and the garden looked beautiful but it is a shame that the same level of attention had not been applied to the bedrooms and bathrooms. Hotel stays should be a treat, somewhere exciting to stay away from one’s own four walls but we were disappointed and chose to get up early at 4.30am to head home on our second night.

Beautiful wedding venue -but although our room was modern and lovely( room 29) my poor sister and brother in law next door(30) had a room straight out of a museum!!! If you had been given that room for an overnight stay-200 pounds!! And wasn’t at a wedding -you would not be happy . We actually couldn’t stop laughing at how bad it was - like sleeping at Beamish!!! It wasn’t the only one like this either because we saw the other rooms when they were being cleaned in the morning . Eiderdowns and blankets! -like the 70s!! Unbelievable. We were at a wedding - beautiful venue -but let down by no vegetarian option at night( sausage and bacon butties- they could easily have provided vegan sausages too!) no plant options at breakfast either- definitely stuck in the 70s/80s .Apparrently it’s for sale- it could be a gold mine if it was brought up to date .
