A little disappointed. On arrival room ac did not work. Had to get hotel staff to clean the filter which was full of dust.
There was a stale smell from the carpet, so had to leave patio door open for first 30 minutes each time we arrived. We did not create a fuss since we were only there for 2 nights.
There were all the all the things like microwave, toaster, etc. The location is good with walking distance to restaurants etc.
Beautiful property. Stunning gardens. Very friendly staff. Spacious family twin rooms. Awesome breakfast. Breakfast/restaurant staff must be commended on their hospitality. They were very sensitive to our religious diet needs and approached us on their own to accommodate our needs. Absolutely amazing. Huge thank you.
This is a quiet gem just off the main road in Laura. It is exactly as described and full of character as you should expect from a genuine period property. Now look, there will always be those picky soles who find offence at a bit of faded curtain, or a stair tread that squeaks, and alright so it doesn’t offer breakfast or have an a la carte restaurant which is the only reason I can’t give this delightful house a 5th star. A huge plus is the fact they have true double beds, not two singles pushed together. I cannot tell you here how many times I’ve lost a leg down the gap in the middle of a supposed double bed. But, Laura House has the real thing, a firm double bed, a four poster if you choose, as we did the largest room on the first floor ( room number 3). It’s the bay window room. The water in the shower and bath is immediate, wonderfully hot and fast flowing. The rooms are spacious, clean and the welcome very warm. If you haven’t been to the area before, then know that Laura is the more chic side of Katoomba, just across o very small valley. The shops start about 400m from Laura House and feature a wide range of eateries, up beat clothing and accessory shops and the like. Most have survived the ravages of Covid and so welcome new visitors with unbridled enthusiasm and pride for their businesses. So to for Laura House. The parking is secure, the garden clearly set for families to chat and mingle or for a couple to slip away and settle on the garden sofa. It’s familiar, friendly and a little bit tired, think of Laura House as you would that wonderful elderly aunt that has so many stories to tell, doesn’t mind the children and lets you settle in a quiet space at the end of the day without constantly hassling you to plump up the cushions. Would I stay here again, you bet we will, and the same room so we can enjoy that four poster bed with a really clean white muslin drape overhead, which would have been the first sign of fatigue, instead it is clean, well loved and that really sums up this family run establishment. So if you want a quiet base just off the beaten track give them a call, they don’t bite !

We didn’t have any expectations and just booked whatever what came first in the search for a hotel in Blue Mointains so we were really surprised with how much offer this hotel has! A lot of offered activities for both adults and kids - there’s a cinema, a mini ranch, an arcade room (we really enjoyed playing the walking dead), swimming pool, ice skating rink, etc. We were quite surprised in a good way! :)
This is a great retreat in the blue mountains, with good views from the front of hotel. Full of character and history. Friendly helpful staff,a large, spacious room which was spotless. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast for the 3 mornings we were there, our compliments to the chef. The restaurant was closed while we were staying, but we walked into the town, plenty of places to eat there. It was a little chilly while we were there, so it was good to sit by the open fires with a drink in the evenings.
This motel is in a good location, very close to Leura town and the Three Sisters Peak, but the only bad place is that all the rooms are on the side of the road, there is a big van at night, which is quite affecting sleep. It is not recommended to stay here with sleep problems. This hotel does not need to pay a deposit. After booking online, you can check in directly. The hotel facilities are quite complete. There is air conditioning, hot water and not cold at night. The facilities are relatively old, basically have not been renovated in more than ten years. However, 100 knives a night is still very cost-effective
The room is quite big and there is a small sofa. There are two bottles of milk and two bottles of water in the refrigerator. To be honest, I stayed in so many hotels with similar prices this time, and this one was the only one with water, which made me cry. The entire house is in retro style, and there are fireplaces and sofas in the public areas. However, check-in at the front desk is until 5 pm, and no one will be there any later. I saw that Ctrip showed that it was before 00:00, so I went there after 8 pm, but there was no one there. Later we communicated on the phone, and the key was left in the key box for us. We took the key to the room by ourselves, which was pretty smooth ~ overall very good satisfy
On arrival the place appeared rundown but not terribly bad. We arrived late and settled into a shared 4 bed dorm. We got lucky and it was just us to start. After an hour of sleep on a bed of rocks, a guest (who was called an annoyance by staff to me) was placed in our room. The gentleman was drunk and noisy upon arrival, up and down with all the lights on and off at least once an hour. This would have been fine except I was informed by an unapologetic and rude staff member the next day (hours after checking out) that there was a spare room he could have been placed in. Being in a shared dorm you expect other travellers, we ourselves had just driven for 15 hours from queensland. The first thing we were hoping to do upon arrival was shower, alas there was no towels to be found anywhere in the premises. And not for a lack of searching either as I searched both that night and the next morning before we left. The room was provided with a tiny electric space heater, which combined with a broken window and high ceilings, did nothing to keep any heat as we froze in our beds all night to the sound of our roommates jet plane snoring. The next morning we promptly checked ourselves out by 10am. Whilst we waited to see if any staff would show (in case you're wondering, they didnt), we shopped around online for a new hotel. Having found a new hotel who could get us in (and with a working shower) by 11am we sent a text to the property asking them to contact us. I prebooked 2 beds for 10 nights, of which we stayed for 1. None of which has been refunded, or acknowledged, after multiple attempts to contact the hostel I was told to take it up with booking.com from the rudest staff member I had yet to speak to. After following all the steps on booking.com I was ignored by the property for 10 days. In this time I have called and sent multiple messages to the property. I would not recommend my worst enemy stay with the conditions we were greeted with. I am yet to receive any communication from the hostel regarding my stay.
I stayed here several decades ago, and it looks very much like little has changed to update it. This is both good and bad. The Clarendon is a traditional place to stay in Katoomba, and is very old-school. This is not a place for those wanting the latest in trends and styles and a high-end experience. I think of it as being like a comfortable pair of old shoes. Good points: (I stayed in the motel section) - one of the better value places to stay in the mountains - my room was clean and tidy and quiet. -nice sized TV for watching Friday night football - The staff were super-friendly. It was a pleasure to deal with them. - wi fi was good, and my the heating system did its job and kept me warm all night, despite it being bitterly cold outside. -comfortable bed. I slept well. -While I did not spend much time in the common areas, they did look interesting places to hang out. These things might need some attention: - a bit skimpy on bathroom toiletries and tea and coffee supplies. - consider putting a face cloth and hand towel in the rooms - the free breakfast is appreciated, but maybe a little more could be added to it (yoghurt or some pastries like croissants etc). -
