Very good value for money. The hotel is nicely renovated with no waste in space. Sheets are very clean and bed is comfortable. Room is neat and has no smell. The only issue is that it could be very nosey during the weekend because there is a bar in the ground floor. I didn’t experience it because I stayed in weekdays.
Stayed as a last-minute business traveler. Price was very affordable, and I soon learned why. Extensive building works made everything very difficult to navigate- understandable. However, the setup with parking was a nightmare, as you need to checkin before you park, and need a roller door fob to access car park. Lifts don't go back to the car park (its took 2 lifts to find my room), so thank God I didn't put my key in the box before retrieving my car. Room was clean, but the grubby, worn remotes are not very covid-friendly. Even checking out was difficult, as you need the fob to get to the check-out box. Possibly the most convoluted security setup I have seen, and I have stayed in some pretty rough places around the world. Certainly don't book if you have any mobility issues, small children, vision impairments or claustrophobia....

Best quality apartments in St Kilda. I have been staying here since 2012 and Hamptons St Kilda is my accomodation of choice when coming on business to Melbourne. Quality Bathroom with pure white crisp towels and a Fully appointed Kitchen, with a nice sized lounge area. Washing machine and dryer too boot. Bedrooms are comfortable, clean crisp white cotton bedding. There really is nothing not to like here. There is no onsite parking bit in the locale there are free street spots. Some good coffee spots along Chapel and Carlisle Sts and a varying array of places to eat. Tram into the city if you need it is close by. I can highly recommend this quality accomodation.
My wife and I had a nice stay here a few weeks back. It is pretty centrally located and reasonably priced which are the redeeming features. The location and rooms definitely look nicer in the photos, the rooms whilst large and well appointed are very old and worn… dented fridges, damaged furniture, bedside lights that don’t work etc. it’s all perfectly liveable it’s just not what I expected from the photos. Staff were friendly but the place just needs some TLC. If you think this is a nicely restored boutique hotel you’ll be disappointed, but if you’re seeking conveniently located, reasonably priced accomodation with low expectations it will be perfectly suited.
Excellent place very friendly staff, great location easy to walk to Fitzroy Street. Car park underground spots are a little bit tight for parking. Safe location, easy check in, lovely bottle of wine for hubby's birthday
My sister and I had the best time at Base St Kilda! It’s an extremely sociable hostel and we met some of our best friends here that we have continued to meet up the east coast! (The bingo is a must do!) While we had some a minor issue with our booking for an excursion with Happy Travels, it was resolved and we are super grateful for the both teams for accomodating and helping us sort it all out! Highly recommend staying here, especially if you’re solo and want to find some friends for life! Thank you Base!
The hotel is in a great location with bars/restaurants/shops and beach all within walking distance. The trams to the city stop right outside. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Especially Tee and Steven. The hotel has a wonderful quirky feel with colourful artwork, stained glass windows etc. However, the whole place is desperately in need of a re-furbishment. Our room and balcony were scruffy and very basic. It made me feel sad to see how such a unique, historic building has been so neglected. Overall we had a good stay
Fantastic location right in the heart of St Kilda, so close to Acland st and the beach, etc. Parking is virtually impossible, but you can try. There is a carpark inside, but likely to be shared with the adjoining complexes. Rooms are decent and functional. TV reception in our family room was awful - couldn't even get free-to-air channels to work consistently. Free Wi-Fi. A huge complex with lots of rooms. Loses heaps of stars for the poor customer service at reception. The young guy charged my entire room rate and $150 bond on credit, when I clearly told him that I wanted it on EFTPOS savings to avoid the credit card surcharge. They later said that they can't charge the $150 bond via EFTPOS - almost every luxury hotel we've ever stayed at (Langham, Marriott, Sheraton, etc) are all able (and willing) to charge the bond via EFTPOS. I would've been fine paying the bond via credit, and the room rate via EFTPOS. Small thing, but the guy didn't explain anything on check-in and proceeded to charge me in a way that went against my explicit instructions to him. We would've stayed as the Ridges nearby, had it had better bedding configurations. Unless there's absolutely nothing else available, I'm sure you can find a better place.
Only stayed one night to work in quite and great for that. Apartment was spacious and had everything you need however it had an odd lay out . A coffee station near kitchen but mire in lounge then a weird desk that was used as a pots and oan cabinet closer to lounge as well . Huge amount of pots and pans but not ione knife. Just nit thought out from perspective if patron. Tga stret its situated on is amazing. The church opposite is special. Infact every building was old and architecturally beautiful.. great place to stay in autumn with the shedding leaves for effect.. it was quiet and was nice but decoecboring, drab, and oddly laud out. I like to feel a warmth and inviting energy when I enter a hotel this was just there to give you twhsy u need to stay away from home for a night in a 1 bedroom apartment in a picturesque street in stkilda....

GGuest UserArrival: Upon arrival I was greeted by a new guy who was pretty new to the St Kilda gang. He seemed very lovely but it did take him a while to get me checked in. 15 minutes later I was still standing there waiting for him to tell me what was happening so perhaps better communication from him in the future would come across more friendly to new arrivals. Rooms: When checking into my room, the room was super spacious and the beds were definitely the best I've had yet, with lockers above the beds and space underneath too. The best bit is the curtains to allow for a bit more privacy when wanting to chill in your room. The walls are PAPER-THIN though so you can literally hear everything from the corridors/out the windows from downstairs. If you're on the bottom floor, you're pretty much stuffed cause I would class this as a party hostel and you're never gunna get much sleep. People: The people at this hostel seemed really friendly. I did bump into a lot of Dutch people though and in my opinion are not the friendliest. The hostel hosts events most nights - pretty much 100% of which involve drinking. So, if you're a non drinker it doesn't really cater for us. There was not 1 event I saw that didn't involve alcohol and as a non-drinker I would have liked to see more of that. I was mostly looking forward to beach volleyball and 'peer pong' but these were cancelled for no reason so that was pretty disappointing. St Kilda Team: The cleaners are really lovely and got a really good vibe from all of them - there was one particular guy from Columbia who was an angel! As for the Canadian receptionist, you should get another job... sorry but being front-of-house is not your skill - you are so unfriendly and made everyone feel so on-edge. The tall skinny guy on reception was also really sweet. Location: The location is right by the beach, only a 5-minute walk so really great location and also right by the tram station.
GGuest User4 x Nights at this hotel for a business trip to Melbourne. It's a nice 4 Star Hotel. Pretty easy to get to and close to St Kilda and not too far from the Melb CBD. The room was fine and what I'd expect for this style of property. Nice, firm bed, aircon, clock (I like that), ok bathroom with really hot water. There's a ground floor restaurant for breakfast and a cafe / liquor store that does a nice breakfast. There's cafes a short walk away if you don't want to eat at the hotel. On site parking is $20 per night (Indoor or outdoor). The road out front is a Clearway during the day so you pretty much have to use their parking. I assume it's not too expensive (I didn't pay for this stay). Nothing bad to report - it was all good.
MMrsMrsWanderlustSt. Kilda Beach Hotel + Location is great, jsut a few meters walk to the beach, to convenience stores, restraurants, bars, and tram + Checkin process and checkout are smooth with helpful staff + all the frontdesk people were very helpful the 3 staff who can speak Filipino were also helpful in terms of language barrier even helped us with redeeming AusOpen tickets and getting around, very helpful. + Love the family owned kitchen restaurant just in the hotels vicinity, love the coffee and the breakfast, they have really big portion for small appetite people like us so we decided to split our orders.. still love the small beach town vibe of the resto. + Staff were all friendly and very helpful, from the cleaners to kitchen staff and hotel staff. + Simple design room with view of street and can open window, has airconditioning, beds were soft, a bit smaller pillow but okay, and clean room. - The overall design is a bit outdated as what other comments would say which i agree - the carpet in the lobby has stain, that doesnt look so pleasing for the guests - the elevator is slow and cant seem to find stairs - window cannot fully open just slight open, i understand for safety purposes but maybe a bit more opening would be better, and also dust accumulating through the said window area since its rarely opened. All in all the positive experiences outshines the little minor annoyances and suggestion that we have... Must really commend the staff that helped us, and feel welcomed. And most of all, the area of the city away from the buildings, near the beach, and love the culture, people and everything about Melbourne.
JJustStephHighly recommended!
We had a great stay in a comfortable and spacious room. Location is also great and public transport is close. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Value for money, the price is unbeatable for Australia.
GGuest User0/100 0 STARS HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED! On Sunday 27th March at 5:30pm I spoke to the Manager. I had booked and paid for three nights accomodation through Agoda. I had a booking email, Booking ID and Booking paid receipt as well as my bank statement proving I had paid and had a valid booking. She refused to accept my booking. She said I would need to pay triple the amount if I wanted to stay there. She said they didn't even advertise on agoda but when I showed her that the hotel was on agoda she denied it. It seemed like an elaborate scam to make u pay triple the price. Really bad experience. Buyers beware stay aware from this place. 0/1000 Highly not recommended.
