The Dragon Boat Festival holiday travel, because the car travel that stayed the night before was very big and there were two big bathtubs, the price was more favorable than this, so it was compared.
The first time I came to Shumei, the room type we lived in was simple, but the indoor lighting was bright and it felt good. But only the shower has no bathtub to take a bath ⋯
I don't know why the mobile phone signal here is very poor, and the WiFi message in the room is also very slow.
There are movies to watch on TV, and it rained heavily after check-in. It was not bad to watch two movies.

This is a wonderful hotel located right off the shore of the beautiful Renyitan Dam. It’s only a 2 minute walk to the boardwalk where you can watch the sunrise early morning!
The hotel lobby is gorgeous and room is clean and roomy. There are loaner bikes available right at the entrance of the hotel.
The women’s spa is closed for renovations at the moment but there is a game room where family with kids can enjoy a variety of activities.
The only drawback is that the hotel is outdated probably due to low occupancy. The breakfast buffet is only available when there are tour groups staying at the hotel.
This was my second time staying here this month and I really enjoyed it.

The village is a place for leisure and vacation with pool table, sports equipment and swimming pool.
There is a parking lot in the village and parking is very convenient.
The European suite design, the bathroom and toilet are separated, and it feels more comfortable. The bed is spacious and comfortable, but the toilet is not an exempt toilet, and it feels a little weak. TV only provides digital TV, there should be room for improvement. Breakfast is acceptable in the motel shopping mode.

The equipment is a bit old, and children living in a camper are more novel. In summer, you can play in the pool to cool off the heat. The barbecue ingredients are sufficient. It is recommended to bring more abundant ingredients. There must be anti-mosquito measures. Family travel is okay as a whole.

The room cannot be compared with the city, but it is OK and clean. The location is more difficult to find, especially at night. It is best to drive to the day. The boss is very good, the service is not bad, it is still a little distance from Alishan!

The location of the homestay is near the fish market, and you can go to the market to eat fresh seafood in a 5-minute drive! The rooms are clean and tidy and the equipment is great. It is very comfortable to live in. Recommend! The owner of the homestay is very kind and willing to share any questions he asks. There is an open space next to which you can park, so you don’t have to worry about driving.

All aspects are above the standard. If you come to the South Palace Museum, it is very suitable for living. It takes more than five minutes to drive. I will come here next time and it is convenient to go to Parkzi.

GGuest UserThis was really the best home stay experience we ever had! The owners are super kind. Upon arrival, they warmly welcomed us in and gave us delicious tea, apple, snacks, and their good company. The room itself had amazing views over the mountains, tea plants, and sakura. The room was really big, equipped with a good shower and comfortable beds. We even got a free room upgrade and tasty breakfast with fresh fruits. Next morning we were taken on a tour over the Tea Plantation and the owner told us not only about the process but could give us information on all the other plants like coffee plants, flowers, etc. We really hope we can stay here in the future again.

GGuest UserAbsolutely incredible mountain view room (無憂時光) - like being in heaven! It's even better in person and difficult to capture just how magical it is since the mountain mist comes and goes like Chinese watercolor art... probably more dramatic than other sights you go out of your way to visit in the vicinity. The room itself is spacious and well appointed... washlet toilet too! There are 3 buildings, one for breakfast with panoramic views, one for regular rooms (十方) and the other one a level lower for unobstructed mountain view rooms (無憂) which cost a bit more but are well worth the money - can see the sunrise from the room's balcony! Alternatively, there's a viewing platform outside for everyone. Took the iconic 2.5-hr Alishan Train from Chiayi 嘉義 to Fenqihu 奮起湖 (book tickets online 2 weeks in advance at 6 am, pickup at 711) then it's 30 min by taxi (300 NTD) from Fenqihu or there's an infrequent bus 7322D which came really late 'cause of cherry blossom traffic. Can easily spend a couple of hours there, with trails and shops - check out 山嵐小築 for mountain-view patio tea/dessert. Staff very responsive via email, recommending a couple of drivers, one of whom we booked for 8 hours for 3000 NTD (+300/hr if over 8 hrs), including going to a local hotpot restaurant nearby they suggested with light and fresh ingredients 龍舞雲海阿里山現採高山蔬菜火鍋 (make sure you call to book in advance). Also managed to see Alishan National Forest Recreation Area 阿里山國家森林遊樂區 (200 NTD to enter)'s 姊妹潭 ponds and 神木 forest (well-known but not as spectacular as you might imagine) in addition to 石棹's 櫻之道 with bright pink sakura trees and beautiful tiered tea fields - all quite busy in the midst of cherry blossom season mid March. It's lovely but probably better to come a different time of the year to avoid the crowd if you've already experienced more densely planted clusters of cherry blossom trees in Japan and are less likely to find it that impressive. Transport a bit tricky without a car so do make arrangements ahead of time (an hour up to Alishan Station) although infrequent 台灣好行 buses stop nearby downhill at Xiding 隙頂, also going to High Speed Rail Chaiyi Station (taxi 1500 NTD). Trails within walking distance for sunset with tiered tea fields and sakura (隙頂二延平步道 100-min loop - helpful hand drawn map at reception... lots of steps but not too bad and totally worthwhile). Sunrise from 茶霧之道's gazebo 涼亭 20-min walk away was insane (part of the loop)! Restaurant onsite only serves breakfast from 7-9 am so make sure you make lunch/dinner arrangements - the first night we got railway bentos from Fenqihu. The nearest convenient store is Hi-Life 萊爾富 that's 750 m away, adjacent to the above mentioned hotpot restaurant.

Breakfast is good. Besides toast, they serve each occupant a set tray of baked chicken with veg and fruits. They also provide Alishan tea variety to let occupants sample Alishan tea at breakfast. Perhaps can put in room as well. Good marketing for Alishan tea.
Free flow of hot and cold water just outside room at the community hall. So save you the trouble to boil water. Thermo flask and lukewarm water also provided in the room.

This is one of the best hotel in Fenqhihu heritage village. It is steps from the train station and very famous for the train box lunch which was one if the unique lunch box in Taiwan. Almost all travelers visit this hotel to taste the lunch boxes,and if you are a staying guests then you will get discount for the meals. Mostly traveler stay in this hotel to make a trip to Alishan National Park, rather than staying inside the park,it is an option to stay at this small village. They are several types of room, and the cheapest room is the Japanese tatami room. The wooden bathtub is a bonus with herbal soaking bag provided in the room. The hot water is not running for 24 hours, and there is no heater inside the room, so be prepared the cold weather in the high land. Hotel doesn’t provide breakfast,but they give coupons worth 200 New Taiwan Dollar per pax per room per night to buy breakfast at 7/11 mart just outside the hotel. Room also have tea and hot jug but no coffee. Outside the hotel there are many eating places,but make sure to have early dinner as this is a sleepy village and almost all shops close at 7 PM except 7/11 mart. At night there is nothing to do as the village is very calm and almost all guests sleep early to prepare a long day at Alishan National Park. This hotel in certain season also provide a walking tour to see firefly, very comprehensive and free for all staying guests. For those who opt not to stay inside Alishan National Park, then this heritage hotel is an option. One more thing to add, the bus station is also three minutes walk from the hotel. The bus station serve Alishan NP and Chiayi Station and HSR.

GGuest UserWe were there for 2 nights and had a great room. Although we were only 2 people, we got a larger room with balcony. The room was very clean and well furnished. A mattress was however a little through. The breakfast was rich. The hotel seems to be very popular with travel groups because new buses arrived daily. That makes it a little noisy, but did not disturb us because it was quiet at night. Something untransparent is the concept of the hotel. The reception is in a sort of hall where there are also sales and loudly empty aquariums. A teasting is probably possible there too? Unfortunately, we have nothing to explain to it. Maybe also have been located on the lack of English knowledge.

AAndreasM- Nice owner family. It is important to know that the owner only speaks rudimentary English, her mother not at all. It is helpful to use a translator app.
- Delicious Chinese breakfast with a view of the surrounding mountains and tea fields included
- The accommodation is a bit difficult to find and not that easy to get to, as you can only access it via a narrow mountain road. However, there are enough parking spaces available.
- Beautiful quiet location in the middle of tea fields
- 10 minutes by car from Fenqihu, where there is the nearest food option (supermarket, restaurants, etc.)

KkohKengLocation: excellent! It is near to the park entrance, 7-11 and restaurants (less than 5 mins walk).
Room: Small but clean. Other reviewers mentioned about sewage smell from the toilet. It is true and we suspect it is due to the wet floor (my daughter slashed water on the floor accidentally). There isn’t any smell when we keep the floor dry. There is a bathtub made of tiles but won’t suggest u have a soak in it as it is looks relatively dirty and tiles bath tub is not the easiest to clean if u want to clean thoroughly the space between tiles! Do note that there is no hot water from 11am-4pm , room heater is turned on when temp drops to 10’degrees. It gets pretty cold when it rains and hence, do bring a jacket. It was rainy days and the temp hits 16-17 degrees and lower should u wish to see the sunrise at Alishan.
Amenities: basic amenities in sachets and slippers are provided (very thin slippers).
Service: the counter staffs are not the most friendly. They are not rude and will answer your questions. They are generally helpful. The cleaning staff was more polite and friendly as we requested for dry towels (we stayed 2 nights and did not request for room cleaning but needed fresh dry towels). There is a shuttle service to drive u to the Alishan bus station to catch the bus back to chiayi. Do inform the hotel staff earlier. Otherwise u will need to walk to the bus stop , perhaps a 10-15mins walk with your luggage and I think it is a slope
Food: breakfast is at the plaza, less than 5 mins from hotel. The shop staff will dish out the dishes for u as requested. There are porridge, noodles, vegs, buns, coffee , preserved pickles/nuts etc to go with the porridge . For lunch and dinner, u can eat at the restaurants around selling Zi char eg fried rice/noodles/chicken/beef etc or hot pots. I would love to eat hotpot in the cold weather but husband is not a fan of hot pot. Personally I find the food too salty for my liking. Alternatively you can grab bento or cup noodles or bread from 7-11.
Suggestion: pack some warm clothes, prepare your own slippers/amenities if u are more particular of the quality of the products . Can bring along a water bottle for the walking trials and to refill the bottles! They have water dispensers at each floor.

GGuest UserFor the price you'd think they'd spend some of their huge profits on upkeep of the rooms. The bathroom was full of mould, the bathtub had been siliconed to the walls, but have pulled away. The entire bathroom needs renovating. The bedroom was on a very badly installed floating floor. There were electrical wires hanging loose from the night stand. The WiFi and set top box were jamed between the TV and wall. The lights didn't work properly, one flicking for minutes afyer the switch was off. The walls are super thin and guests should be reminded to be courteous of other guests, as I was woken at midnight by loud talking and laughing which didn't stop until 230am, and I was getting up at 345am for sunrise. The owner/reception needs to learn manners and how to operate a hotel, because (1) leave a note in English that when reception is unattended to go next door, (2) don't deny early check-in with the pretence the rooms weren't ready, because I checked all on the ground floor and all were ready, plus when I finally got to my room at 5pm the floor was wet in the bathroom and bedroom. (3) Learn some manners, which seems odd in Taiwan as everyone is well mannered, so maybe that's why her attitude stood out so much as she's surrounded by well mannered people. (4) Understand that travellers want peace of mind for left luggage, do at least pretend to make it secure. The room door was damaged both inside and near the lock on the outside. Provide a bathmat, well a few, coz the bathroom flooded so easily.
