This was the perfect choice for a girls trip with friends from various countries. We opted for the 6 night package for the ease of having many things planned up front. They were incredibly flexible with our plans, making a few changes for us after we arrived. Every person working at Dantlca was helpful and provided top notch customer service. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. It is a destination for true birders, which we are not, but they met a perfect balance between serious birding and simple enjoyment of nature and learning more about birds. We enjoyed the restaurant where we had all of our meals. There was enough variety to keep it interesting. For me, the trout was exceptional and I repeated it as it was such a yummy treat. Food portions are enormous with entrees being more than sufficient as a main. The cabins are rustic and pleasant. We were in #2. It is not pretentious chain type lodging and perfect for the setting. The huge windows provide a great view from all angles. We had a couple of requests regarding our room and they were quickly attended to. Also housekeeping was offered every day and done thoroughly when we opted for it. I would definitely recommend Dantica for adventurous nature lovers.

You may wonder what you've gotten into when you descend on a winding road down to the lodge. We kept asking our driver, ”Is this it?” and he would say, ”Down.” And down we went to a magical place. When our porter delivered us and our bags to our rooms, minutes later he was knocking on our door. ”Quetzal,” he announced, and took us to see our first one, right on the hotel grounds. For birders and hikers, this is a wonderland. And you are down a steep road, so you want to stay right where you are for a while. We were there for three nights and that was great. We could have stayed another, easily. You can take a taxi up to the top of the mountain to hike to the tallest oak trees, which are another type of magic. We had a wonderful birding guide, Raul. And a lovely visit to Batsu Gardens and their restaurant. And the restaurant at Savegre is excellent as well. A very special place.
