Breakfast is not bad, eggs are delicious, the German village is beautiful, the hotel is on the highway, very quiet and peaceful mountain village, see a lot of white-faced cows sprouting

My son and I have had truly a wonderful rest at Heinz Winkler. From the very beginning at the reception we felt welcomed and right at home at our lovely room. The customer service is impeccable. A cosy little swimming pool and sauna go a long way enriching your vacation. A superb breakfast with champagne prompts you to get in the vacation mood full time)! The legendary Frau Winkler puts a sparkle on your staying with her personal touch. My 9 y.o. son was impressed enough to write his personal letter of appreciation to the hotel! Only the housekeeping could use a bit of polish. Will be glad to return.

We were here for lunch. The service was very fast and careful as well as the food was very fast at the table. To pre-food surf &turf once different, the tatar was extremely gross cut (meat piece??) I couldn't define was also a little grey, I think already pre-food, the parmesan cream was okay, The garlic carpaccio was TK-ware is in order for the local was everything well decorated. The Matjestatar was well tasted and as pre-food portion in order, the Rösti unfold as a rough stone has not much to do with Rösti in the original. The hareng filet was well marinated by the fish, the potatoes lacked colour, and there were very large salad leaves on the table and everything swam in the salad tumble. The vine plant I was glad to see as I liked something to eat as the tatar was as the tatar was very grossly covered in consistency with a very thick not really good soup in the as announced in the potato pepper salad Gummi-like dosing pillows were processed, for what was not on the food card, a huge salad buket from all of the salad leaves again whose dressing swam on the whole table and mixed with the reef sauce. Unfortunately, the pictures of food on Instagram do not give the reality.

Hat man im Tal die kleine steile Abfahrt bergauf durch den Wald gefunden, dann steht am Ende der Straße, wenn es nicht mehr weitergeht, das Hotel. Bereits beim Ankommen merkt man, dass es sich um ein sehr persönliches aber gehobenes Anwesen handelt. Kein übertriebener erlebnisindustrieller Luxus , keine Animation oder Wellness-Da-müsst-Ihr unbedingt-mitmachen-Kurse, dafür sehr viel Ruhe, rücksichtsvolles Ambiente, Gäste, die auch ihre Kinder erzogen haben, kurzum, der anspruchsvolle Gast fühlt sich sofort wohl. Bergpanorama mit Blick auf den Chiemsee. Die Zimmer sind funktional, die neuen Balkons werden in den nächsten Jahren bei mehr verwitterndem Holz ihren Charme noch entwickeln. Sensationell ist die Küche, eine überschaubare aber umso hochwertigere und feine Karte. Den Tipp hier, nicht ins Tal zum Essen zu fahren, sondern es einfach vor Ort sich gut gehen zu lassen, kann ich nur wiederholen. Ankommen, Auto parken und einige Tage da sein. Aufmerksamer, persönlicher Service, kleine Bar für den Apero. Das Gefühl, ”über der Welt abgehoben” für ein paar Tage zu sein, stellt sich sofort ein. Erholung ist für den garantiert, der stille Spaziergänge, Mountainbike oder einfach lange Lese-Nachmittage genießen kann. Für uns war dieses Hideaway eine echte Entdeckung.

We arrived slightly later than planned, but found somewhere to park and checked-in, which was done courteously but without much warmth. The hotel has the feeling of the very late 1970s or early 80s, but everything is well maintained and clean so that's not really a problem. The rooms, overlooking the lake, were spacious enough with balconies. As others have noted there is no AC, so in summer the rooms might be too warm. We were on a half-board arrangement, so took dinner in the restaurant and ate from a set menu, the quality of which was better than it initially promised to be. The restaurant was very busy (and noisy) when we started to eat, but quietened down later. There seemed to be a group on a business meeting staying the hotel, who later started drinking games in the bed Bavarian tradition. Breakfast the next morning was good and overall the stay represented reasonable value.

What a wonderful hotel it is! A cosy family-style hotel in a traditional Bavarian house, with traditional wooden interior and lots of small decorative touches that make it look (and feel) special! The atmosphere alone is something, for which you can prefer this hotel to any other 'corporate' or 'chain' facility in the surroundings. Besides that, a very comfortable and spacious room, soft beds, and everything is very clean. What we also appreciated, with German not being our native language, is that all employees seemed to speak English, which is quite uncommon in the rural parts of conservative Bavaria. Breakfast could really be better - both by choice of food and organization of service: it was pretty packed and crowded. However, the restaurant - just like the hotel itself - is very authentic, and the hotel already replied to us in a different review that they're working on improvements. And that's a good sign and shows their commitment to guests' satisfaction. No one is perfect, but working on improvements is what makes us better - both in private life and in business.
