Best Playa de las Americas Hotels

Was a bit dubious when arriving at this hotel with my friend due to reading quite a few negative reviews, however, very pleasantly surprised! Staff were lovely, check in went smoothly and yes the rooms are a bit ‘tired’ but spotlessly clean with no bugs! Location is perfect, plenty of restaurants and shops nearby and of course the sea more than enough pools - probably my only criticism was that there’s not enough sunbeds and if you are lucky to get a bed it’s probably because you woke up at the crack of dawn to put your towel on one! The hotel isn’t the quietest but it’s right by Veronica’s so if you’re looking for a peaceful hotel then bypass this one!(didn’t actually bother us at all as we knew what we were letting ourselves in for) We only booked for breakfast so unable to comment on any other meal times but a lot of food choice and plenty of seating. Thanks to all the staff at the Sol for making our week a good one….will definitely return!

Four of us stayed for 2 weeks and we had an amazing stay. We had an end, top floor apartment with a very large balcony overlooking the pool. Location was great for us as we enjoy the walk to the beach, which wasn’t that far; and it’s La Vista beach which is the best beach ever! Added bonus was being able to dine at our favourite restaurant ’Chouky’s’, oh my days their food is amazing and staff uber friendly - true gem. So the alcohol fuelled stagger home after mega food indulgence wasn’t onerous at all. The hotel was great, Sun loungers, pool side and water cleaned every day. Tip - make sure the lounger is dry before parking your bum; no one likes a soggy bottom! Pool bar was the best we’ve experienced. Staff sooo friendly and the food absolutely amazing, well worth the money. My daughter regularly ordered a burger which was huge, good quality meat and stacked full with extras. I was privileged to be offered a bite (one time only I must add) and oh my god it was a taste sensation - heaven in a bun. €1 deposit on drink cups, but you get your euro back when you return them. People did queue for sun beds but it wasn’t necessary, but always fun to watch. There were plenty of beds and never be afraid to move them about so your group are together. Our apartment was a one bedroom. It was roomy and light with all the amenities for self catering, although no freezer compartment so couldn’t store ice which meant we struggled with space in the fridge because we had to keep our bottled water in there as well as food. But we managed. Whatever you do, do not rely on the hairdryer in the bathroom. It’s archaic, like 1970s, and only provides a warm waft of air. Tip - take your own hairdryer. Plenty of plug sockets but always wise to pack an extension lead to accommodate charging of mobile phones, vapes, headphones etc. we definitely needed the extra plugs. The only downside we had was the sofa bed as my two teenagers found it hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. They struggled more and more the longer we were there. Obviously younger kids would be fine, but the older they get, not so much. But we didn’t have a choice of a two bedroom when we booked, so not much we could do. So, great hotel, great apartments, great location and great staff - massive shout out to the pool bar, we loved you guys! One last thing. The use of **** throughout the resort was rife. Everywhere. It’s was overpowering some nights and wouldn’t be surprised if we were high from inhaling the fumes whilst chilling on the balcony.

We were a family group of 4 adults and 1 child (age 12 with additional needs). We had a 2 bed apartment with roof terrace and a 1 bed duplex apartment. Having been to several similar type hotels over the last few years overall gran oasis was completely as expected! I was impressed with the main restaurant food and it was definitely same quality as others we've stayed at. One of our party has dietary needs and staff were good at providing a gluten free bread roll and there was always plenty he could eat. The cleanliness of the restaurant, pool area and apartments was good and I had no concerns. All the staff we met were helpful and polite. We only used the biggest pool but it was the warmest we've been to at this time of year although is abit on the deep side for my liking. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. I was dreading the slopes and steps having read the reviews and having a personal hatred of hills but they weren't as bad as I expected and with abit of organisation to prevent 'extra' trips back to the apartment (which was at the top) it wasn't really a problem. I was very happy with the 2 bed apartment and we had beautiful views from our balcony. We had brilliant weather. We had a couple of walks down into Los Christianos and playa de las Americas and along the front which were really nice although busy. And there is a lovely footpath around the back of the hotel and golf course which we really liked. Got a taxi back from the front due to my hatred of hills- cost between 6-10 euros and never a problem to get one. We aren't interested in entertainment or activities so can't comment on them although it was set up quite well so as someone who's not interested it wasn't intrusive. Would recommend trying the different hot drinks machines around the restaurant as some were much better than others! The child has a children's massage which she enjoyed and was responsibly priced. And 2 adults did a spa visit- the spa had less than other we've visited and was more expensive as well but was still nice and very relaxing. Now for the reasons I gave it 3*. (I would have given it 4* without these as it was all fine but nothing was particularly amazing). First reason is the roof terrace- this was a big disappointment for me- there is no undercover area or umbrellas and it gets full sun so became too hot within a couple of minutes rending it unusable for us. It was also level with the motorway behind the hotel which made it very noisy and not very pleasant. The other reason is that 3 of our party got stomach bugs - one near beginning of stay, one near end of stay and one within 24 hours of getting home. And one of our party slipped on the stairs within the duplex apartment resulting in a bad wound to elbow requiring trip to hospital for stitches as well as multiple large and colourful bruises. Stayed here for 4 days last week. Amazing location in the middle of the buzzing heart of Las Américas but once inside the gate it is a little oasis of calm . We were upgraded to a 1 bed bungalow and it was fabulous, clean ,comfortable and toiletries etc provided and a full kitchen. Beautiful breakfast each morning with a huge range of choices and happy 2 hours in pool bar each afternoon. Sonia on reception is amazing - friendly, helpful and always smiling. The pool area is clean and well looked after and always plenty of loungers - no need to get up at stupid o clock to put towels out,!! We will return definitely- we loved every minute of staying there.

La Siesta isa beautiful hotel with the full range of services. Starting with the rooms, they are spacious, clean and comfortable. Maid service daily. Beds are beautifully comfortable. Poolside is clean and safe. I mention that to bust the myths of other reviewers who talk about our being dirty and slippy. Cleaning a poolside is a bit of a work in progress and there will be be some water unless they follow behind you with a cloth to catch the drips! Pool bar might be a tad pricey but the service is fun and friendly. Where does Ramon get all his energy from? He is attentive, sociable and a good laugh. Evening entertainment bar is also top notch with a special shout to Vicente who had to endure my dreadful cosmic, poor chap! Whilst were at the pool... let's dispel another myth. There are NOT extra charges for pool towels. Just a refundable deposit. Some reviewers seem to make it up as they go along. Children were not the remotest issue, even for us as eight adults. The kids club kept them fully occupied and entertained. Breakfast was a bit of a let down I'm afraid. I get that it's a heel of a job to cater for hundreds at a time, especially with hot food, but i have to say it as I see it and we only ate in the hotel about four days out of the ten.

The hotel is located close to the more lively club area, but if this is not your liking it can be avoided at night by turning left rather than right. A short walk to the beach and promenade. We had a Club room overlooking the pool with a sea view, but given the orientation, no sun on the balcony. Room was spacious, modern and clean, with excellent daily housekeeping. Coffee pod machine, kettle, fridge and safe provided. Other reviews have expressed mixed opinions on the food and entertainment, but given the price both were great value in our view. The buffet always had extensive choices of salads and desserts, and a station for freshly-griddled fish and meat options, as well as numerous other pre-prepared vegetable, fish and meat choices. Each evening had a special food theme, with mixed results. The Mexican and Asian themes were very good, British less so! The evening entertainment was relatively brief, about an hour, but varied and professional, ranging from solo singers, bands, magician, dancers and circus. The bar was pleasant enough, but would benefit from less bright lighting to improve the atmosphere. A wide range of drinks were included in the all-inclusive, but the cocktails were poor compared to the paid-for alternatives.
