The historic hotel has a British style. I stayed for three nights and it was worth the trip.
Regardless of the hotel's location, facilities, hygiene, service, catering and surrounding environment, it is the best choice for traveling to Chester.
We had a warm welcome to the hotel and our courtyard room was ideal. There is plenty of parking which is a great bonus so close to Chester. It was easy to walk to local shops & restaurants and also not far to walk into Chester centre. The room we stayed in was clean and equipped with everything we needed. Breakfast was very nice with lots of choice and friendly staff. We had a lovely stay & felt it was very good value for money too.
Positives Position Excellent position centre of Chester five minute walk into Chester town centre. Staff all really friendly couldn’t fault them. That for me is where the positives end! Sorry but other than that I have nothing positive to say about it. For the price sorry just not good enough. Breakfast inedible the only thing I ate sorry drank on the first morning was a glass of orange juice other than that everything else cold, toast like rubber and cold, the eggs well I can’t even describe what they were like! I did think when the member of staff came to take the plates she might have asked why we hadn’t eaten anything but no ? No questions asked! So I guess she wasn’t surprised! Awful is the only word I can use to describe it. Second morning not much better managed to eat a croissant and that was about it! Not enough choice either poor show for the price you pay. The room no USB Charging pointing? Surely a norm these days? A lack of sockets full stop no sockets one side of the bed so I had my husbands laptop lead across my back while he was using it good job I had bought an extension lead with us! No socket near the mirror? How do you dry your hair when there is no plug anywhere near the mirror? Who designs these rooms? The room was not what I would call clean could have done with a better clean, also pillow case ripped? I could go on but I don’t think it will make any difference. Also had to pay for parking which I then heard them say to somebody “if you book directly through us you don’t have to pay for parking” ! Very disappointed in our stay would I stay here again definitely not I would rather use a Premier Inn I know what I am getting and I can get a fresh breakfast from where I want when I want and not have to book a table the night before at a certain time when I am on my holiday and don’t want to have to set an alarm to get up!
Lovely hotel. Perfect location for Chester, just outside in the country. Spotlessly clean with very friendly staff that could not do enough for you. Biker friendly, and a nice car park out of view of the main road. Meals were excellent and a lovely beer garden. There's a petrol station within 100 meters for refilling the bikes with a shop attached, so perfect. Will be using again.
The hotel is a lovely Tudor building , lovely staff and hotel . I was there with partner and friends for weekend in Chester. Friday we went to Alexander’s comedy club , my first time in a comedy club absolutely brilliant. It was my daughters Hen and stag do but classy one followed by races on the Saturday. Anyway back to the hotel , the hotel was lovely our room looked out onto the coffee shop on the Main Street and noise from party/drinkers on nights out till 3am then delivery at 5.30. The rooms around us all seem to have the same problem creaking old floor and beds. Saying that it was a lovely stay and I would stay again but ask for a different room. Morning breakfast was cereal, fruit juice, choice of cooked breakfasts for all needs. You’ve got to have a cooked breakfast when away from home.
Checking in at the main Oddfellows hotel was smooth but it would have helped to have the exact address of the apartment in advance, so we could park more easily. There is one parking space at the apartment but it is a tight entrance!
Apartment 5 was upstairs and very spacious. The lounge/kitchen/diner was well set up and the tea and coffee available was very welcome. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large, comfy and clean (but could do with a few hooks for towels or coats). There is even a laundry room. Decof is quirky and the location is great - just off the main streets. Fabulous place to stay.

Excellent
GGuest UserLovely fully equipped apartment. Was surprised to see such a gem just 5 mins away from the city centre. Endless supply of coffee, hot chocolate and water from the reception, and fresh Croissant provided for breakfast.
This can be for long or short stays as it has all required kitchen equipment. The air conditioner works really well, iron, ironing board, a safe for keeping items, and multiple wall socket points.
Parking is £10 overnight and wifi with good strength.
A study/work table is also available .
Truly loved it and can't wait to stay here again
Had booked twin bedded room and found when going to the room at 3pm, two single beds were together making a double bed with bedding for double bed.Went back to reception and they said someone would come and make beds up as two singles. We decided to go for a walk and returned to our room about two hours later. Nothing had been done. My companion decided to see if he could separate the beds and started to take the duvet, sheets and mattress protector off. To our dismay the protectors had blood stains on and the mattresses had stains on. We went back to reception and said no one had been up and we had now found stains on the bedding and mattresses and wanted new mattresses and bedding or a change of room. Again told someone would come up and sort out. We went to dinner and came back to the room about 9pm to find all the bedding on a heap on the floor with no explanation or message to explain what had happen. We went back to reception, informing them that nothing had been done and receptionist said some one would come up. We waited in the room and a staff member appeared and we showed him the stained mattresses and bedding and he offered to find us another room (time now getting up to 11pm). He came back with keys and took us to a room down the corridor. My companion reasonably wanted to check these beds before agreeing to the room and the staff member said “if you look for dirt you will find it” My companion asked him if he would have slept on the soiled mattresses and bedding and to our surprise he said yes. It made us wonder what his standards of cleanliness were and the hotel’s. We were on the Christmas break package and found the dining room very cramped with little room between tables, with the waiting staff finding it difficult to serve between tables. As we were with a coach party there were 10 of us on a table which looked like it was meant for 8 people. So meal times were not the relaxing experience it should have been. In fact it felt like too many people had been booked in the hotel for the Christmas break with not enough staff to serve the meals. There were long gaps between courses as the staff seemed to have too many people to serve. The waiting staff were pleasant and well mannered but appeared to need more training and support and more staff for the number of guests . The food was good and plentiful when it did arrive at the table. The afternoon lunch/tea was good and the evening buffet on Christmas Day but unfortunately a long queue of guests to get to it. I liked the cocktails they gave us when going into dinner, which was a nice touch. On reflection our second bedroom was well laid out but with no drawers , just a small wardrobe. There were tea and coffee making facilities but biscuits would had been nice. Our bathroom was fine and good supply of hot water but we couldn’t get over the stained bedding and mattresses which seemed to be acceptable for the hotel to provide for their guests and made you consider what the standard of c
GGuest UserA little piece of heaven! The room was very comfortable, well designed and with lovely nautical features throughout. On arrival, parking was excellent, friendly helpful staff, within minutes we were sat by the window, overlooking the fast flowing river, being entertained by the wildlife whilst enjoying a well earned drink after a nearly three hour drive! Location was perfect, breakfast, a joy! A birthday treat for my special girl which couldn't of been better, we will return.
GGuest UserAsked for housekeeping to be done when we left the hotel. The only thing done was new teabags were placed in the room and new towels were put in. The bed was not made, the room was not tidied, new mugs and glasses were not put in the room. Very disappointing. Called twice but reception was busy, so we settled for a room that had not been attended to properly. Disappointing.
Recently booked our wedding here for 2026 Ella is a prefect choice for this role, her enthusiasm, energy and passion for the role made this hotel our favourite choice from all that we looked at As well as Ella the management had a genuine passion for customer service with the General manager taking my partners tea cup on the first visit when passing in the corridor. The space for weddings is a nice size with perfect layout possibilities and is made private from other hotel guests. The rooms are a good size too with all amenities we could want and the spa appeared well staffed, clean, and inviting. I’m sure we will have to try the spa ahead of 2026 :)
TT5732A decent and new-build hotel. At a convenient location, near a Waitrose, the town centre and Chester railway station. Recommended for those who would like to stay at Chester. The only problem is some of the light bulbs is broken. And I would like to say Chester is a great town with many historical buildings.
GGuest UserOne of the best experiences in a hotel I’ve ever had! The staff really make your stay, big shout out to Darcy on reception who made our stay so lovely. We arrived and we’re surprised with drinks vouchers for my partners birthday, the room was lovely and spacious and very quiet! We used the pool and jacuzzi which were both great! Breakfast was a buffet with a great selection and even the chef asked us how we were doing and if we needed any recommendations for our trip. The staff really do go above and beyond and are some of the loveliest I’ve met in the service industry, a real credit!
MMary MoraitiVery clean very beautiful and very good service. Beautiful terrace to drink your coffee in the morning. We stayed in a superior king bedroom and it was honestly so clean and comfortable and relaxing
GGuest UserFor the most part, this is a lovely hotel. It cost us around £7 for a taxi into Chester and the rooms are clean. The majority of staff are incredibly friendly. However, while out during the day our keys were deactivated to force us to the reception so that the manager could corner me about where my car was parked - which had been mentioned to another member of staff during check in and they had said it wasn't a problem. She had been trying to call me on the hotel room phone ”all day”, which is a ridiculous approach as who sits in their room all day? If she had just called me on my mobile number, which was used to book the room, I would have happily come back and moved the car. She demanded I move it in that moment and I explained that I'd had a drink but I'd move it in the morning. She then said she would move my car, which I wasn't comfortable with. She then walked away from me and wouldn't allow a rational, adult conversation. The tone and attitude were accusatory and her frustration clearly misdirected when she has made no realistic efforts to contact me; we were in the hotel until 11am and, as I said, I had my phone with me all day. I tried to explain to the reception staff why my car was where it was, and that I had discussed it on a rival and was dismissed with a ”well I wasn't there so I wouldn't know” then she smirked at another guest. It's such a shame that has really put a dampner on the stay for us, as it was totally unnecessary.
We got this on a deal so it was reduced slightly from £246 to £232.70 (two people in separate rooms for three nights), but even the full price would have been great value. Spacious, really comfortable beds, great range of TV channels, great location. Pretty much everything you could ask for. The only minor issue is that my mother's room got too warm at night. But in fairness, a fan was provided and she used this to help cool it down before going to bed.
The average price for hotels in Chester is AED 628 on weekdays, and AED 838 on weekends (Friday-Saturday).
