"A century-old store means that the facilities are a bit old, especially the floors, but the location of the hotel is very good, opposite the coast, less than 5 minutes' walk from the famous seaside hotel, and 10 minutes' walk from Eastbourne Secondary School. It's particularly close. Every minute of the English breakfast is freshly made. Well, it's very good. I'm late every time. It’s a pity that I forget to take photos every time😅😅"
"Super beautiful sea view room, the interior of the room and public facilities is very good, the owner and manager are very hospitable. The breakfast the next morning was made fresh and delicious. A very pleasant place to stay."
"I got a lovely room upgraade from single to double. Very spacious, shower was temperamental. Breakfast excellenta, small but perfectly formed and tasted delicious. Will come back."

"There is no parking lot, but there is still a free parking space in the back alley. The front desk is very good. Very warm. The hotel is in a good location."
"Great hotel but not the best in the town as it is small, about outdated and the view isn't the best in the world.
The shower was very poor and weak but the bathroom looked nice and was up to date but not the biggest.
The hotel had a different feel about it and the staff member was great."
"Although there is an elevator, you still need to go up and down several stairs to reach the floor, like a maze. Please note that the family rooms are likely to be on both sides. If you bring large luggage, it will be really difficult to move up and down. You can park on the road and ask the front desk for a card to put in the car."

Outstanding
GGuest UserVery clean rooms and comfortable bed. Breakfast was great, all cooked nice and fresh and plenty of it. I’d definitely stay again without a doubt.
GGuest UserBeautiful boutique hotel, we has great service from friendly and efficient staff. Our room was clean and very comfortable with lovely views. The bar served a good variety of drinks and cocktails. We did not eat her as we met with family.
AAnonymous UserRight next to the English Channel, with an unbeatable sea view room, very close to the White Cliffs. The hotel room was spacious and clean. There were a lot of people when checking in, so we waited for a while and checked out at 10:30 in the morning.
GGuest UserThe hotel is very beautiful, very clean, the sea scenery is very good, the transportation is also very convenient, and near to the sea. Open your eyes and see the sunrise. The boss is also very warm, there is water and milk in the refrigerator, very satisfied!! I love here and want to stay next time. The lack of lift to move luggage is a little inconvenient, but the spacious rooms and warm decor offset all of this
NNatalieWe stayed in a 'cosy double'. The room is very run down. The wallpaper is stained and peeling off and the carpets did not feel very clean. The walls are extremely thin, meaning you can hear people walking along the corridor and it makes the door lock bang which sounds like someone is coming into your room.
The headboard of our bed was positioned right next to the elevator which we could hear all night as people were going up and down.
However, this is reflected in the price and I can't comment on the experience of a better room.
The staff were polite and friendly on check in.
Room amenities included a kettle for tea and coffee, a hairdryer, and an ironing board.
GGuest Userlovely reception. good room. only blemish was a stain on the bed sheets and a smell of what I think was 'Febreeze' (the laundry fresh up spray)
AAlvinDCFantastic stay! Highly recommend.
My partner and I stayed for a night. Arrived rather late and the staff were still up waiting for us. Acknowledged us by name and showed us up to our sea-facing room. Clean, well furnished, minimalist modern and spacious feel. Woke up to a fantastic unblocked sea view in our large window.
Breakfast was available to all in the kitchen/ pantry from 7.30-10 with a more than decadent spread of your staples, hot fresh brewed tea and coffee.
Minor drawback was the slightly longer walking distance from the city (about 15mins), no toothbrush available, and had I not read up online ahead of time, I’d never be able to find the place as there is (as many others have also mentioned) no clear sign that says “The Halcyon”.
So to anyone to follow in our steps, this is honestly a beautiful place to stay. Excellent value for money away from the noise of the town centre, wonderful hospitable staff for a lovely guest experience, delightful & scrumptious brekkie, cosy and clean modernistic rooms & gorgeous views to wake up to. No hassle checking in or out.
Just be mindful to look out for the big words that says “HOTEL” and you’re very likely at the right spot. (Checkout photos 1&2) Walk in without fear and be greeted by warm smiles and a fantastic experience all around.
AAnonymous UserCame over a little queer while away rang emergency services for help, that was last week ha ha. Apart from that just look after yourself always knowing your on holiday. Grin and bear it. Only here once I'm told. Couldn't fault the place, I tried but couldn't. Ps better than NHS food any day of the Milena. Keep up the good work. Pps if you don't agree don't read then.
GGuest UserAmazing location right by the beach so some rooms would be overlooking the promenade and coast.
The rooms are tired and decoration needs to be updated although the reception areas look good. The beds and pillows were VERY comfy! Better than some travelodge, so a good night sleep. So if you can look past the poor paint, the £37 a night twin room will be a bargain. I would return at this price, but not more expensive.
Its not the usual high quality or standard that I expected from Best Western chain. More a budget option.
£7 is for a continental breakfast so this was declined. Tea and coffee in room was good.
Late arrival but checking in was swift and very helpful. Free but limited overnight parking outside but you have to get a ticket (the hotel can do this for you for £2.25) from 8am so if you want a lie in, you need to book and pay when you check in.
GGuest UserThank you for a lovely stay the location of the hotel was great for us. Being close to the start of the beachyhead race and then the beach and the pier was exactly what we needed. The parking permits were helpful to and we had no trouble with this.
I would say having booked the deluxe room it was all great size for what we needed, the room could do with somewhere to hang some coats ot clothing, a mirror in the room itself would also be a great touch.
A few downsides were the curtains didn't fit the windows probably and the room was very hot even with the heating down and the radiator off.
All in all a great stay and we would come again, the staff were very helpful
