Ideale per un po’ di relax tra le tante attività: Location bellissima e facilmente raggiungibile, pur essendo immersa nella natura. Pasti buoni e abbondanti. Personale professionale e cordiale. I booked a superior double room for two nights with a plan to relax by the pool between early mornings at Bromo and then Ijen. Arriving late at night (Jiwa Jawa can arrange pick up from train station for 350,000) I found that my room was not anywhere near the main reception, restaurant and pool area. It was actually at the adjoining Taman Gandrung Terakota. Thankfully you could have breakfast at the cafe above the rooms, and the views of the Terakota decorative gardens were very nice. There was no information on the booking page about this room being so far away so that was frustrating as it was almost 10mins up a very steep road to get to reception and pool. If you call reception they will send a car to pick you up but it's annoying having to pack all your things to go to the pool. The room itself was nice but had one vital flaw. NO CURTAINS! The windows are a coloured glass but there is an outside light that shines through all night and the sun comes up by 5am, very hard to sleep! Once you got up there, the pool was nice and looked over mountains but no umbrellas for sun loungers and you can use undercover areas if wet (even though they are by the pool??) The hotel did organise breakfast box to take on Ijen tour which was good. I had dinner at restaurant above room, the only one dining, but beef sate was good and price cheaper than main restaurant (which I didn't want to walk to in dark). The hotel organises private Ijen tour for 950,000, I booked shared tour with Yukbanyuwangi and they picked up from Jiwa Jiwa (I told them to pick up from Terakota, and there is security at night in this area to help), then drop at Ketapang or Banyuwangi for 400,000. Overall, be careful which room you book. It is a nice resort but I wouldnt stay here again due to distances between properties, no curtains and umbrella by pool.

Ouf, what a hidden gem! The bungalows at Purwa Ijen are top-notch, offering an amazing value for money. It is located in a super authentic, small and peaceful village with beautiful views and lush vegetation (besides all the rice fields). Our highlight was the breakfast, where we got the best smoothie bowl on our whole trip through Indonesia. The Ijen tour (500K) was also an unbeatable price. Transfer to the Bali ferry for 200K was also affordable. We especially loved the spacious bathroom and the comfy terrace with jungle and ricefield view. IMHO Purwa Ijen is one of the best value accommodation you can find in the Ijen area, highly recommended. WiFi also worked like a breeze.

When climbing the Ijen volcano, you usually stay in Banyuwangi, mainly because it is close to the pier, but to climb the volcano you need to get up after 2 o'clock and drive for 2 hours. So when I booked a hotel, I looked at the very famous ijen villa&resort, but later it was all booked. So I happened to be recommended by the app Teras hotel ijen. I saw that the price was 600rmb a night and it was OK, so I made the decision (later I found out that the price had been reduced to 450rmb, which was a huge loss). The hotel is about 45 minutes away from Banyuwangi Pier, but the location allows you to see the Ijen volcanoes, and there are rice fields and coconut trees outside. The sunset is so beautiful. There are actually several hotels around, as well as a guest house, which costs 200rmb a night. The hotel design is very design-like, similar to domestic boutique hotels, with only one floor of rooms. Since there are no restaurants around the hotel, you can basically eat at the hotel. The price is not expensive, only 50rmb per person, which is really cheap. However, there is a small cafe when you go down the alley from the hotel and turn right on the main road. A few young people are relatively new to making drinks, but the photos are beautiful. I recommend everyone to check it out. Then there is a guest house next to the hotel, where you can also drink coffee. It is surrounded by rice fields, which is also suitable for watching the sunset. Staying in the entire hotel was very relaxing and there was no sense of pressure. The biggest problem with Teras Hotel is that transportation is inconvenient. You can't get Grab here. Only the hotel has a taxi phone number. Going to the pier is twice as expensive and the asking price is 250k. There is no other choice but to leave. Also, if you sign up for a group tour to climb Ijen, it is not available here. The hotel will provide a contact person to discuss it yourself. Basically, a car costs 1,700k, including guide and tickets. We will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the pier at the end. The price is slightly expensive, but it is acceptable, and it is okay for three or four people to carpool. In short, in ijen, it is highly recommended to stay here for one more day to relieve the fatigue of the special forces trip.
