"I like the Tanabe hotel very much. The grandma is very cute. Japanese introduced us to some of the hotel facilities in English. He took us to choose a bathrobe and asked us where we came from. Then I said thank you in Chinese. Then I introduced the hotel wall. The calligraphy on it was written by her dad. Her dad is an artist. It is really great. The grandma in the hotel are all dressed in kimonos. They prepare dinner for us after a busy day and then introduce the menu. The dinner was super rich and we were stunned. It is banquet cuisine. It is richer than kaiseki cuisine. Every dish is exquisite and delicious. The seafood is fresh. There are two or three slices of Hida beef. Did not eat a very special flavor, but the meat is not old, okay, we have a total of four people occupy a room to enjoy this hearty banquet cuisine, beautiful."
"There is a parking lot, you need to inform the store in advance. The bedroom is on the 2nd floor and the others are on the 1st floor. The space is large and suitable for family travel. The room facilities are very considerate and treat foreign guests as natives."

"It's a very beautiful, very comfortable and very new hotel. It's just that the location is too remote and there shouldn't be any restaurants around. However, there are cup noodles and other items for sale downstairs, and the prices are very reasonable. The view from the hotel room window is farmland, which is very beautiful."
"Cozy family hotel, it’s super quiet when I live in. During the whole stay, only one of us has a family bath and 5 pools casually, watching the snow fall on my shoulders quietly, life is happy! It is very suitable for children. Breakfast and dinner are very supportive. It is close to Shinhotaka and the ski resort, and it is quieter than Hirayu."
"The most expensive but the worst hotel among the 8 hotels in this trip!
The hotel is positioned as an Internet celebrity hotel in my heart! Very beautiful to take pictures!
But the hotel has flaws: the public hot spring is too small and you can't take a bath, the room is too cold, and the air conditioner doesn't work! The shower area in the room is also very cold!
The food was average, but the key was that the ventilation during the barbecue for dinner was not good and the smell of oily smoke was all over the place!
The service is very good from check-in to other times. The key is that after check-out, no one cares about getting to the station. If the weather is good, it is not a big problem and the distance is not far. But on snowy days, it is too hard to push a big box with ice and snow on the road!
It was really beautiful to take a lot of photos. If you don’t have high requirements for hot springs and like to take beautiful photos, it’s still great!"

"The location is excellent, very close to the JR station and Jinya. It snowed heavily, and the door was full of snow, so you can have a snowball fight at any time. It is suitable for family stays, and the room is large."
"I am very impressed with this place. It looks very friendly, cheap, clean. I only use it to sleep because it is late every night. There is only one bathroom for men and women to use together. Separate male and female areas. Good."

Outstanding
CChar_maineThe hotel is very close to the Takayama station and Nohi Bus Center. The old town is in walking distance of around 10-15 minutes, with many different types of restaurants and souvenir shops nearby. Impressed by the hotel providing rice soup bowl every night for hotel guests.
The hotel room is very clean and neat. Surprisingly it is very spacious too.
11509Hotel is right beside the Highway/Local Bus Station & Takayama Train Station. Most attractions are within walking distance. The hotel room is spacious, it has a kitchen with the essential appliances, medium size fridge (not those small bar fridge in most hotels), microwave oven, electric cooker, washing machine with dryer. Their check-out time at 11am compared to 10am check-out required by most hotels in Japan.
Highly recommended to stay here when visiting Takayama, especially when travellers using Takayama as a base to explore Shirakawa-go, Tayoma, Narai-Juru, etc.
SSetoucVery nice hotel and great location. I was lucky to have the last parking lot that is not yet reserved. I wasn’t able to try the private onsen because I didn’t book in advance. I’ll definitely book this hotel again if I go Takayama in the future.
MMay Yee DorothyIt’s a pretty new hotel which is just a few minutes walk from JR station. The hotel onsen has indoor and outdoor pool. It’s about 15mins from hotel to Takayama old town. The only down side is that there is no parking for this hotel so for those that drive u have to park a distance away. The closest carpark is about 100m away but that carpark is expensive, if I’m not wrong u have to buy the ticket from the hotel reception and it’s yen2000 for 24hrs and it’s a one time entry. If u get the ticket direct from the carpark it’s yen3000. We park at another carpark that is slightly further away but it’s much cheaper at around yen500 from 1800-1000hrs, walking distance is around 4min from hotel
GGuest UserStayed there with as a family of 3. While I really wanted to like the ryokan due to the warm service and great feedback from friends, my own experience was a bit disappointing. We have stayed in many traditional ryokans prior to this and were familiar with the setup. We are appreciative with the warm service and sincere touches; like candies at check in, but the ryokan itself is really quite old and in need of a refresh.
Our room is tucked away in a corner and required us to go down a small flight of stairs to reach. I am not sure if the location meant that is a bit colder than the rest of the rooms but we really did feel cold and the heating was inadequate. The in built heater would also stop and beep in the middle of the night, which led 2 of us falling sick at the start of the trip. We requested for a additional small heater which helped a bit. Second night, our 9yo son also got many mysterious bites all over his leg. He claimed to have seen a bug crawl under the tatami mat but we were not certain and therefore did not feedback to the ryokan as we only had one more remaining night to go. We had only stayed 1 night in nagoya's marriott associa hotel prior to our ryokan visit, and his skin improved after we left Takayama, leading us to think that it might have been the stay there.
BBe My GuestMy recent stay at the Wat Hotel & Spa Hida Takayama was a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel's thoughtful amenities and welcoming atmosphere. Ample parking is available (a reasonable ¥800 overnight fee applies), making it a convenient choice for those traveling by car. I also opted for the breakfast buffet (¥1000 per person), which offered a delicious start to each day. The friendly front desk staff spoke excellent English, making check-in a breeze. A particularly nice touch was the welcome drink coupon, redeemable for a refreshing beer or soft drink at the self-service bar – a perfect way to unwind after a journey.
The rooms at Wat Hotel & Spa are spacious and comfortable, featuring well-appointed bathrooms with excellent shower facilities. The hotel's onsen, located on the top floor, is a true highlight. The private onsen is available on a first-come, first-served basis, offering a relaxing and intimate experience. Simply lock the door, and the space is yours to enjoy. The hotel is also family-friendly, with a fun touch – guests can help themselves to a complimentary popsicle after their bath. All the essential amenities are provided, including combs, soap, shampoo, and comfortable bathrobes, readily available in the lobby. My stay at the Wat Hotel & Spa Hida Takayama was truly rejuvenating, and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting this charming town.
旅旅行小小白I recently enjoyed a fantastic staycation at a hotel featuring a beautiful onsen, and it was exactly what I needed! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The onsen was a highlight of my stay—immersing myself in the soothing hot springs while surrounded by nature was incredibly rejuvenating.
The hotel’s environment is simply stunning, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I took long walks in the nearby gardens, which were beautifully maintained and provided a peaceful backdrop for relaxation.
One thing to note is the parking fee of 1100 yen per night ( from 2pm) , which I found reasonable considering the convenience. Overall, this staycation was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy some tranquility. I can’t wait to return for another relaxing getaway!
雲雲尼王A small hot spring hotel. I really feel the hotel's care. Compared to more prosperous areas, I prefer this kind of remote small hotel. I feel that the hotel wants to do every place carefully. Although the price is cheap, there are many details. Everything is well done. For example, there is a self-service snack and drink area in the lobby, which is available 24 hours a day. Yukata for children is also provided. The hotel rooms are very clean. I wonder if they have been renovated, so the rooms are very new and clean.
DDuboisTristanThis place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.
The average price for hotels in Takayama is AED 926 on weekdays, and AED 995 on weekends (Friday-Saturday).
