The room was large and quiet so I was able to spend a comfortable time! The staff were very friendly and I was able to enjoy my trip to Hokkaido without any inconvenience. Is the fireworks display lifted in various places this year? However, the fireworks in Toya here are the best! You can see it from your room, and if you want to experience more powerful fireworks, you can move to the lakeside to see it! (I was satisfied with the fireworks from the room ..) There is a little distance to the city, but I personally didn't particularly care. I definitely want to come next year!

The onsen town at the south end of Toya Lake has the usual collection of big, bigger, and older onsen resort hotels, all with a nice view across the lake and Mt Yotei in the background. We wanted and found something different in Kitsutsuki Canadian Club, a small inn with well maintained log buildings on the western quiet side of this very scenic area. Though one of the websites we looked at indicated the room was on the small side, it was actually quite standard size and included twin beds and separate shower/big tub. Both the tub and the bedroom had views of Lake Toya. Compliments for dinner and breakfast which we found very good; some purely Japanese, others a western-Japanese fusion. That’s what the owner seems to be going for, with interesting art and other cultural decor in the main building/dining room. A Canadian log cabin eliciting an international vibe in a most scenic Japanese place.
We booked the Japanese style room with a fantastic view of Lake Toya. Room size is big (for Japanese standard). It even has a sitting area for you to enjoy the view of the lake. The amenities is a bit outdated but all in good working condition. Within walking distance to the Mt. Uzu Memorial Park. You are also able to see the night fireworks from our window. The onsite onsen has indoor and outdoor. We tried that it was was good.
I made a reservation in a hurry the day before, but it was close to the rental in the corona pass, and it was very cheap and I was able to stay overnight in a good location on the edge of Lake Toya. So there is no problem in the shared toilet. There was also a washlet in a western toilet. There was a washbasin in the room. The window was also open and the room was smoking. The view of Lake Toya was good from the window, and the fireworks that rose every night from May to the end of October looked beautiful. The hot spring is quite hot, but it was comfortable to get used to it. The parking lot was a lot of signboards for different shops, so it was a lot of fun. There are convenience stores and delicious taverns nearby, and there is no inconvenience with breakfast and dinner and no problem.

AAnonymous UserWe booked a 3-person room for me, my husband, and mum-in-law. The room was spacious and with a really good view of the lake. I've watched the Lake toya fireworks before, and this hotel had the best fireworks view as we could see the whole display unblocked from start to end. Love the buffet spread and even the whole layout of the restaurant. We had no issue with parking and checking in. Overall we had a really good time relaxing and enjoying the view.
LLoner TravellerThe view on Lake Toya from the hotel was spectacular. We were lucky to have witnessed the cloud sea and sunrise. From the other angle, we could see the full view of Mt Yotei, also known as Hokkaido Fuji. There are few restaurants in the hotel, including the Japanese, Chinese, French, and the Italian. There was also good onsen in the hotel, both idoor and outdoor. We will definitely come back to stay again in the future.
GGuest UserGreat view for our room and at night I see fireworks from our window. Room is big but a bit old. Bathroom is too small and tiny. Lobby and waiting room areas are nice , clean and comfy. Staffs in the morning are great . They can speak English. No much going on the main street , most shops aren’t open. Behind the hotel has an amazing view of the Toya Lake and in a distance you see Mt. Youteizon. A very relaxing walk and cruise ship comes and goes. We will come back for our vacation in the future.
Pphua.scFrom Toya Train Station Bus Stop (immediately visible when you exit the Train Station), you can take a bus/taxi. I chose the cheaper option which costs about Y340. It's about 7 stops to Toyako Onsen Bus Terminal (serving as a transport node at Toyako Onsen) and another 3 stops to Motomachi Bus Stop (2 minutes walk to Hotel Hanabi). Travelling time by bus is about 20-25 min, but subject to waiting time (take note of the bus service timings). Google Maps works well to provide suggested travelling route and timings.
I booked a single room for one night that was clean and served it's purpose. It felt a lot like a hostel than a hotel but has an onsen. My booking included a buffet dinner and breakfast which was critical as there weren't many food options around the area. Both buffet had a wide selection to cater to Asian/Western food preferences. There's a 7-Eleven that is about 5-10 min walk away.
There's a Tourist Information Centre at the Bus Terminal. The Bus Terminal is also reachable by walking which will take about 15-20 min.
Hotel Hanabi is one of many lodging options along Lake Toya, and just walking outside the hotel, I was already able to capture the nice photo of Mount Yotei.
During the time I was there (mid-end Apr), there were no bus options so the only way to travel to Usuzan Ropeway was by taxi booking done at the hotel reception.
It costed about Y1900 one-way and took about 15-20 min. Once I was done visiting, another taxi booking is done at the Usuzan Ropeway counter to the next destination.
GGuest UserWe decided to spend one night in Tōya-ko on our way down to Hakodate and It was definitely worth it. Not only because of the beautiful scenery but also thanks to this hotel. It is definitely an old hotel, but in my opinion, it only added to the ,”traditional Japanese” vibe of the place. The room was very spacious for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, and it was such a pleasant change to other new and modern yet very tiny hotels we normally stay at. Breakfast was excellent, with so many traditional dishes to choose from. And the onsen right in the hotel is another big plus. I'm not a huge fan of the onsen myself, but I absolutely loved the cave looking onsen and the one located outside. The whole hotel kind of reminded me of Ryokan. But what is hands downs the best about the place, is the view you get from your room, which is spectacular. The view of the lake Tōya and Mt Yōtei is simply breathtaking.
HhaCarlThe hotel is right next to the lake but not by the lake. It is a few minutes walk. It is a youth hostel. It is suitable for young backpackers. There is a bus from the station to Toya Lake Station Heliushoudu Ski Resort. The lobby on the first floor provides catering services. Overall, it is possible.
GGuest UserI have to say that this is really a great memory. I went there at the end of 2019. The room I lived in was facing the lake. I got up in the morning and looked out the window and I could enjoy the lake view directly. There were buses outside to reach various attractions. The hot spring environment of the hotel is very good, soaking in the outdoor soup can also enjoy the snow while soaking, this is really a rare experience. It is highly recommended to go to the leisurely accommodation of Lake Toya and the people who soak in the soup.
Ssushi2008CalgaryClean dated traditional Japanese hot spring hotel with traditional Japanese fine dinning dinner and breakfast. Our room comes with lake view, quiet and beautiful. Food and service was good. No complaint since the price was really cheap. Always see someone complaining the traditional Japanese hot spring hotels are dated, PLEASE ask yourself how much you pay. The price includes fine dinning. It's about quality of food, NOT quantity. Can you get a hotel room with fine dinning of same quality of food with the same price anywhere else? This is a very unfair comment to this hotel. The rule of the game never changes: You have to pay for quality.
GGuest UserWhen I arrived at the hotel, I was surprised to find a welcome drink and sake, but it was delicious. The room also had a massage machine, which was very useful to get rid of the tiredness of driving. The young man Nakai was very polite and cheerful, and I felt calm. Middle 々 While there is no pet OK hotel, this hotel was a time when my dog was staying with me, so there was a dock run and I couldn't get a family tour group 々. Speaking of luxury, I wanted to stay for a few nights. Thank you to all the staff.
