The hotel is built using the building of the hall, which has a strong Nanyang style and a certain historical basis. It is like the flavor of the Republic of China. The furnishings are also very tasteful.
The location is good, the room is clean, the bedding is new and comfortable, the staff is very nice and helped me print documents for free. Downstairs is close to the dining area. I will stay here again next time.
Location is good
The hotel room which I booked was bad, the bed and pillow were hard, the toilet had no hot water, the room was soundproof bad can hear kids playing crying, corridor walling sound, water tap not working. Bad TV reception. room inside got water paid generator can't open look very scary. When can receptionist doesn't want to pick up the phone, after he picks up he hangs up my phone. Parking is Limited first come first serve.
Luckily, the next morning went down to the reception counter for help. Thank God he has room for me to upgrade but have to pay RM 80 for an upgrade, i quickly agreed, the room is a good premium, deluxe Twin, sad is pillow case smelly.

Penang has a colonial style hotel. The balcony is close to the sea and the sea view is unobstructed. The room is quite large and has a tropical style, especially the bathroom and cloakroom. The symmetrical design highlights the luxury and elegance. It is the most unforgettable hotel
I've had a good stay there for in total 6 days. Clean and comfort place, walking distance to the hospital i went to.
Unfortunately the cafe was closed during my stay. Hopefully it will be opened soon.
if you guys are looking for place that are really near to penang street art and padang kota, then Bishop Hotel is really the best to stay. it is so near to Georgetown main attraction as it is really walkable. staff is really friendly and check in process is really fast. required a deposit of rm100 and can be obtain back after check out. speaking of room, it’s not spacious enough, thin wall and no fridge. but it’s quite ok if just wanna hangout and chill. other than that, it was a really nice experience staying at this hotel. definitely would love to stay here again in the future.
Old building look but inside were newly renovated, the same for the room.
Overall are not bad, with free parking, 24 hours mart downstair.
The breakfast choices are not much but still able to have full breakfast with nice sea or city view.
No swimming pool but my kids were able to enjoy in the bath tub.
Travel with my mom to Penang first time. The hotel was chosen because it’s just a few steps away from Gurney Plaza. Free ice creams were served when we arrived and checked in hotel. The room at high floor is very spacious. However, the facilities are quite simple consider it’s a five star hotel. The washroom is not user friendly especially for oldies. First day after showering, we found bath towels got stains. We informed hotel service staff, they came to changed them immediately with apologies. The room has sea view, the breakfasts are nice and tasty. It’s a pleasant stay overall, will consider to visit again next time!
It’s my second stay at Spices, a restored heritage shophouse hotel with nine rooms. With complimentary coffee and tea as well as a library, the two lounge areas are a peaceful place to relax and unwind after a day of gallivanting, exploring, and eating your way through Georgetown’s bustling markets. It’s in an ideal central location while also being down a quiet street, so there’s not much noise, even if your room is street side. There is a mosque nearby though, so light sleepers will have an early wake up. Thank you to the friendly staff for accommodating me again.
The Magazine Vista Hotel in Penang is more cost-effective. When choosing this hotel, I consulted for a long time, such as booking (more reviews, good or bad), Ctrip (only a simple review). Because it only opened in 2018, the hardware is very new, and the hygiene is good. I especially like to have a washing machine, but I have to find a place to dry the clothes indoors. The location of the apartment is very good. On the left is the GAMA supermarket, and on the right is the landmark of Everbright. Fruits and snacks have their own favorites! Call the front desk before arriving at the hotel, because the front desk is not here, so call in advance and the hotel will send staff to wait at the door. When you call, you need to speak English. There is a Chinese-speaking waiter. India borrowed ”Di Li” (transliteration)-Figure 6 this one. If you call him, you will have no difficulty in communication. He will come to collect a tax of MYR 10 per night, introduce room facilities, and even help you set up a taxi app on your phone. The network is poor and it can't be connected for a few days, so it is important to buy a local phone card. On the second floor facing the street, the noise of motorcycles on the street is loud, which will affect the rest. These problems are not big, this hotel is worth recommending.

Outstanding
GGuest UserModern building styled like the heritage wing however noise from passing traffic until very late at night destroys the ambience. Level 6 sea view breakfast is quite peaceful, staff very attentive and friendly.
Beware the data protection clause at check-in...they want you to sign/accept despite details not being available.
FFiona Yoke PingLoved my stay! We were soooo happy to be upgraded to a room with a view that was sooooo spacious! Stayed there for four nights over nye and had a great view of the fireworks!!
My only complaint would be that there isn’t a Nespresso coffee machine in the room (which is a surprise given that most hotels now offer them) nor do they provide cotton wool (isn’t that also a basic provision?).
Do note that the hotel doesn’t provide complimentary bottled water either, and only tap with filtered water… however I did appreciate them giving out mint water/ pandan bluepea water in the afternoon for guests (wished that it’s all day long!) at the lobby.
GGuest UserReception staff was friendly. We were able to check in early around 10.45am as the Deluxe Suite we booked for 4N was available. Requested late check out was also approved at 12 noon as our flight was late afternoon. View from the top was beautiful & the skybar level was accessible after 6.30pm. There was conplimentary shuttle bus for famous breakfast areas at 8.30am, 9.15am & 10am. We managed to prebook 2 slots for 1 day only to Chowrasta Market. The next day 8.30am time slot was full (12 seats only) so we took Grab instead. Not expensive at RM8 to Kimberly Street. Pillow selection-1 per guest is a nice touch. Had the memory foam pillow for a good night sleep. Some free local snacks from the hotel was a nice gesture. Location of fairly new hotel (year 2022) is excellent. 2 supermarkets nearby (Gama) - the side walk with pretty bougainvilleas is pleasant, Pacific Hypermart at Komtar. Nearby got Japanese restaurant along Magazine Road & also massage places too. Overall, a very enjoyable stay at the hotel. Only negative is noise from traffic so room facing is impt for light sleepers
TTripeonHad a good clean stay at Jen Hotel Penang Georgetown. Location of hotel is great within walking distance from newLane hawker Street and first avenue mall
AAnonymous UserHotel is located conveniently on New Lane where there is a touristy night market (check prices before ordering). The 2 main roads are Dato Karmat and Macallister which makes it convenient and accessible for transportation. The facilities such as gym/ small pool are pretty old but hotel tries to upkeep and maintain as much as possible. I had an issue with very smelly sweaty blanket/ comforter and requested for them to change it and they did. Airconditioning and shower was strong, adequate ammenities were provided and towels were clean. However, beds were slightly uncomfortable as I could feel the spring coils. Carpark is free for guest, just get parking coupons from counter.
JJoLHooiVery Strategic location to have many access to a lot of places by walking distances.
Easy to get to anywhere as its located in the central of the Penang island, lots of good food and local hawkers can be easily access from the hotel location. have great view of the Komtar tower and the city of light, beautiful and stunning.
although its a refurbished building, but it has been very well kept and maintained. Maybe the facility floor of the swimming pool and the bar, might have rooms for improvement. The swimming pool looks very old, despite the taste of infinity pool, doesnt match the 4stars hotel standard, and the bar looks like a local bar with no proper standard.
We shall look into the standard of St Giles is other states or country.
WWee LoonStayed for four nights. They kindly granted me a complimentary room upgrade upon request from a superior room to a deluxe room at 20th floor which has a good sea view - thank you!
My room was new and housekeeping does a great job to keep impeccably clean. They provided free toiletries items like toothbrush, showcap, disposable slippers though I did not use all. There are two bottles of drinking water which are replenished everyday.
Parking is free and “advanced” in the sense that it is automated through a car park lift system which you rarely see elsewhere in this country.
The lobby is at 20th floor, and there is a restaurant at the 21st floor. The swimming pool is at 22th floor with a gym on the same floor too.
Some issues that I encountered or would like to feedback:
1) the holder of the shower head was loose and caused the shower head to push up when water pressure was on and thus not showering the person, and when water was turned off, the shower head dropped to the floor when the water pressure was suddenly gone. Great that they rectified it upon feedback at the reception.
2) the drainage at the washroom basin was not draining well. The facility maintenance could do something about this to improve the experience.
3) I requested for a fruit cutter knife at the reception as I will need to cut some fruits but was rejected, quoting that they do not send cutleries, even though they have a cafe on one floor above, due to “halal” concerns. My question is, then do they allow non Muslims to eat at their cafe since the non Muslims do not have eat all halal food? The reason given is amusing, for such an international hotel brand.
4) they could have done better with their cafe/restaurant with such a great view of the Georgetown - will be happy to see they put in more effort.
Nonetheless, I am happy with my stay. Great location, great room and value for money.
RR...AThe hotel is very old located in the center of George Twon closer to seaside. I have booked family room. Space and lay out is ok but 2 issues, 1 the inner parents room has a large empty space by the window (seaview the say but hardly seeing tho) we were puzzled why no pair of sofa chairs with a tea table, what is this space for? Super odd...
2 the connecting door for two rooms doesn't close well, not saying the lock doesn't work, no no, the door can't even able to be fully shut.
Services is almost zero. Don't count on it. All in all besides the location and fact has family room options, I don't have anything else to write home about this hotel. Oh and the sound proof is zero too, not saying between our 2 rooms. I basically had bad sleep whole 4 nights stay cos outside in the hall almost never stopped having doors open/shutting and people loudly talking/walking by noises...
Won't book again.
AAnonymous UserThe location of the hotel is remarkable, very good, convenient to go everywhere. Downstairs is next to a breakfast shop, the roast meat and white chicken are absolutely delicious, especially delicious.
The hotel is very clean, and the accommodation is satisfactory. It is a good choice to only sleep and mainly go out for fun. The only dissatisfied waitress who came down to open the door for us was thin and wearing a nose stud, very arrogant and impolite. The slightly fatter waitress responsible for checkin is very good, and the male waiter who cleans the room is also very good.
Aana sarda1. Easy and fast check in
2. Place was very clean and warm welcomed by the staff
3. My room was good. Came with 2 breakfast
4. Breakfast was good. The food was a lot of Choice. Add on for Rm20 per head. Children below 5 years was free.
5. The swimming pool also good. Not too wide..but it was fun.
6. Parking at basement of hotel, before out, go to reception for stamping.
7. Overall was good.
