My girlfriend and I are from Sydney Australia and booked a four night stay at Pom Pom island resort. Safe to say this was the worst ‘resort’ experience we have ever had. We paid a significant amount of money thinking we were going to be in paradise but we were in for a rude awakening. So where do we start? 1. The accomodation. Originally, we booked a water villa. When we arrived, we realised that the water villas are about a 400m walk from the main eating area. You can’t swim off the jetty and if you stay in them, you may as well be in a sauna. After much reluctancy, the staff allowed us to move to a beach villa despite there being literally no one in the resort. 2. The food. We give a solid 0/10 for the food served. It’s buffet style Chinese food with the same ingredients everyday and does not change. You have scheduled eating hours so Goodluck if you get hungry. 3. Diving. We contacted them a month early to try book a trip to dive in Sipadan but were told you were unable to book through the resort. When we got here, we were told we couldn’t go because of lack of permits available. I’ll address this further below. Also worth noting that a lot of the coral around the island is dead. 4. Activities. They charge you for every activity you do and it’s pretty expensive. They make you wear life jackets if you want to swim in knee deep water. There is a mountain hike near by and they they charge you roughly 300 RM ($100) and demand you use a guide even thought it’s an easy walking track. You are not able to do anything without some sort of strict policy in place. 5. Bed bugs. Originally we thought we were getting eaten by mosquitos but realised after a long nap inside without any doors open and waking up covered in little bites that it was probably bed bugs. 6. Pollution. The island is covered in rubbish. We walked around the island and were shocked with the amount of rubbish washed up on shore. It’s really sad to see such a beautiful place be so polluted with plastic. 7. Because of all the above, we actually decided cut our trip short and head back to Semporna to book a day diving in Sipadan. In doing so, the resort tried to charge us an extra 600 RM ($200) for an off schedule boat trip back. This was the straw that broke the camels back and we refused to pay. I’m the end, they agreed on the terms of no refund for the lost night of accomodation and without any return trip back to the airport. All in all, this was an eye opening experience. The reviews of this place reflect what it may have been 10 years ago but is certainly not what it is today. Very disappointing and hope this review will deter literally anyone else from staying here again.
I saw the turtles in the morning, the symbiotic fish on the back of the turtles, and the headlights at night are very spectacular. It is recommended. At 5 o'clock in the evening, I was lucky to see the turtles released, rowing, snorkeling coaches are very good, looking for small crabs, perfect holiday. The weather is basically not raining, the people are not mixed, the waiters do not disturb, unlike the two next to the day trips, there are many tourists, the hotel guests are actually affected. Overall five-star praise, the most recommended hotel in Bangbang Island. The luggage reminds everyone to remember to check it when I sent it to the room. When I left a travel pillow, I remembered why I didn't go to the lobby to get it. Another thing I didn't like was that the pick-up speedboat was flying fast for a while, scaring the baby.
[Environment] There are no other water houses around the water house to block the view, and it is very beautiful to take pictures. There are many corals under the water house, and many clownfish and fish schools are seen. There are only five rooms in the whole Pava, but the room is clean and well-equipped. There are water heaters, hair dryers, disposable toiletries, and you can take a hot shower immediately after getting on the water, and you don’t have to wait for the hair to dry naturally.
[Service] The service is very good and professional, and there is contact information in advance. Regarding the pick-up and drop-off, because we came from another water house, it is very close to Pava. After communicating with the landlord, the pick-up and drop-off was completed smoothly. Thank you🙏 The return trip also arrived at the pier smoothly. The landing pier is regular, and there is no situation where a group of black people grab clothes to help you take your luggage👍
[Food] The brother will set the tableware in advance and prepare meals on time so that we will not be hungry😁 There are shrimps, crabs and fish, all of which are delicious! Basically, we finished all our meals, and the drinks we drank were not super sweet soda🥹
👀I need to add that although the water house allows free snorkeling, you can go diving with a life jacket🦺, but you have to pay RM23/set for renting masks and snorkels, and the mouthpiece is not a new disposable mouthpiece. OS: The snorkeling equipment in other water houses is free to use, and I think charging extra will reduce the experience.

The price is really cheap. After booking, I am worried that I am afraid that the scenery is not good. The child is disappointed. The owner of this water house is Chinese. The people are very good. All kinds of questions are answered before check-in. The room is clean and comfortable. This price is staying in a sea view room. I think the price/performance ratio is still OK. After all, I came to the sea view room and experience the water house. The child waited for a long time. The son was satisfied. I was also satisfied. Full score!
