Hotel is located close to the walking street and not too far from the beach. Island style vibe with the palm trees and wooden structures outside. The room was ok, very simple. No toiletries in the bathroom and mosquitoes are everywhere. We had 2 small cockroaches in the room, I guess from the heat/humidity. Not ideal :/ There is AC in the room.
Bed wasn't bad, the pillow was uncomfortable- big and puffy. Other than that, I think the highlight here is the MOJO restaurant that is on the premises. The breakfast was great- healthy, western options available that are filling. The banana cake is soft, delicious and homemade - try it! Overall not a bad stay. Thank you!
A Wonderful Getaway at Irene Resort in Koh Lipe
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
I recently had the pleasure of vacationing with my wife at Irene Resort in the breathtaking destination of Koh Lipe, and overall, our experience was nothing short of amazing. From the outstanding service to the delectable food, this resort truly exceeded our expectations.
The moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the friendly and attentive staff. Their genuine hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile made us feel like VIPs throughout our stay. Every request, big or small, was met with a smile and promptness, adding to the overall exceptional service.
The resort itself is a hidden gem nestled in a serene location, providing the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. The well-maintained grounds, lush greenery, and peaceful ambiance contributed to a sense of tranquility that allowed us to truly unwind and connect with nature.
Speaking of nature, the surrounding beauty of Koh Lipe is simply breathtaking. Pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant marine life make this island paradise a true haven for nature enthusiasts. Snorkeling and diving in the nearby coral reefs were unforgettable experiences, offering us a glimpse into a vibrant underwater world.
Now, let's talk about the food! The culinary delights at Irene Resort were nothing short of exceptional. The diverse menu offered a wide range of delectable dishes that catered to every palate. Each meal was meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. We savored every bite and were left impressed by the skilled chefs who clearly took pride in their craft.
Although our vacation was filled with joy and memorable moments, I must mention the only downside we encountered. The lack of sufficient lighting outside at night posed a safety hazard, as my wife unfortunately tripped and hurt her ankle. However, it is worth noting that the resort staff responded swiftly and provided immediate assistance, ensuring she received the necessary care. While this incident was unfortunate, it did not overshadow the overall fantastic experience we had at Irene Resort.
In conclusion, our vacation at Irene Resort in Koh Lipe was an extraordinary experience. The impeccable service, delectable cuisine, and the island's natural beauty left us with lasting memories. We highly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a romantic and rejuvenating getaway. With its warm hospitality and stunning surroundings, Irene Resort truly stands out as a haven of tranquility and indulgence.
Beautiful little gem right on the mountain top of Koh Lipe. It has an amazing view from the restaurant and amazing view from room (we booked the one with sea view and did not disappoint!) Unfortunately there are some unused facilities, but I do think that this resort has huge potential could soon be a 5 star!! Staff are kind and helpful, even though sometimes they can’t understand, I guess they deal mostly with Thai tourists but you can understand them easily. Restaurant only serves breakfast (free!) and lunch which is good enough as from 6pm they have free shuttle that takes you to the walking street where you can easily find somewhere to have dinner. Will definitely come back ❤️

We were 4 nights in the oasis and actually found a small oasis on the edge of the center. A small resort with beautiful garden, a very clean pool and very nice people. However, communication in English was sometimes a bit difficult. Our Deluxe room was huge, but unfortunately without a box and with only one night table. The bathroom was outdoorly lying and in good condition. However, the glass wash basin had no longer been cleaned properly. ;-) Deductions are available for the bed cover. The large cover had no connection and no washable layer below it. I assume that this large stepped cover is not washed at any room change. Another point was the artificial grass before the entrance door. In the artificial grass had sooo accumulated a lot of dirt that the feet were increasingly dirt when you pulled out the shoes before the door. Stone plates can be simply fed, unfortunately art grass. But all in all a very nice accommodation with potential! ;-) We will certainly come back!
Stayed for 2 nights while we were in Langkawi. Came over on the ferry/speedboat. We stayed in a beachfront villa with great views of the beach and crystal clear waters. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. We also organised a snorkelling trip with the hotel which left from the beach outside. The snorkelling was superb and thoroughly recommend. The hotel is kept clean with reusable water bottles, towels, flip/flops and beach bag. Great touch. Loved our stay here.
There is basically no hot water, there are no choices for breakfast, and the room facilities are relatively basic, compared to hotels in China that cost tens of dollars a night. The location is also relatively remote. The advantage is that it is three minutes away from Pattaya Beach. There are many small crabs on the beach. There is a small plank road next to the beach, which is very beautiful for taking pictures.
We were two couples staying here and we are very happy with the bungalows at this hotel. The hotel was located in a calm area , but close to the beach and restaurants. A very good variety breakfast and friendly personnel. They helped us with pickup of our luggage from the other hotel and also with the transfer of luggage to the speedboat dock.
Context: Paid equivalent of USD310 per night. Another family paid USD145 per night. In 3 months we've been to Kuta, Ubud, Perth, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur, Lombok and Koh Lipe so we are familiar with hotels and travelling. Were forced to sign a contract saying we wouldn't leave negative reviews! Room: No hot water, no shower pressure, shower glass door missing, cobwebs (not cleaned for months), broken sink, sea view 90% blocked, filthy hotel, trash everywhere, mosquitos everywhere but no spray. Not what you expect for the money. By the way, the walk to the room was so high, we were tired and sweaty every time we got to the room! Service: Good before check in. However, when raising the problems, I was told by the WhatsApp team to 'leave and go somewhere else' rather than fix them. Was literally told to get out rather than fix the water et al! WiFi wasn't working so I asked by WhatsApp to restart the router. Lady receptionists KaTa didn't reply and instead, banged on my door shouting at 7.55 and woke up my kids. KaTa was so rude throughout our stay, shouting when you phone reception, being abusive, lying (we were refused a kayak claiming it was broken, but the guy downstairs let us use two of them)! She was just plain horrible and didn't speak English either. We were also promised before coming and after check in that they'd provide a sunset meal as it was my wife's birthday and wedding anniversary. It was all booked, even the menu and time. However, on the day, they refused to honour it. I have it in writing, and it wasn't provided. Major issue: On first night I met the manager Toi and asked him to get the water fixed. He was lovely, respectful and understanding. He also offered me to cancel and refund the booking and rebook at a much lower rate (initially he said he couldn't discount as I'd paid, but then I raised that the WhatsApp team had already told me they'd cancel, which meant they could!). I agreed. The next morning, after the lady woke us up at 7.55am, I went to sort it. However, when I tried to pay directly, the owner (via phone) refused and the receptionist told us to get out. The guy there Book (he was there the night before and with a vile smirk, was very abusive) was so nasty. He was vile, insulting, called me an Arab (I'm not) and said he didn't care and refused to let us pay and stay. We had 3 nights left in Koh Lipe, the island was fully booked and I was with kids and they were kicking us out! My wife had to come and plead and try and sort it but I was just told the manager didn't agree and we had to get out and sleep on the beach for all they cared! The manager Toi called tourist police who got involved and apologised to me. After this, I managed to pay the booking and keep. My reservation. I heard Toi tell tourist police 'the guest did nothing wrong, it's not a big deal, how dare the owner just kick them out' but the owner didn't care. I saw the tourist police twice after and he was apologetic and even took a photo with m
We spent 6 nights in the charming and had a bungalow. This was unfortunately very small and tight. Specially the bathroom did not offer much space, making it often wet. For example, the toilet was not avoided being completely wet when doing the shower. Unfortunately, the room was not regularly cleaned, mostly only new towels and water bottles were placed before the door and the bed was made. There are little options for packaging or backpacking or clothing. Unfortunately, there were many use traces and rides that offered enough space for insects etc. For example, we had visiting meals in the bathroom. On the first night we noticed that it had already opened the door of our bungalow, despite closing it, by a slight pressure from outside. After we reported this to the reception, we were offered to change to the room for one night and assured that the door would be repaired next day. We renounced the switch because after the long arrival we didn't want to pack everything again one day and the next day. Unfortunately, it took three days to get our bungalow closed and the castle was replaced. In this time we have packed all the value items in the safe, which is not included in the room price. But we have received it free of charge. Unfortunately we have not been able to sleep well in the 6 nights. Apart from a animal walking by the walls or on the roof at night, the music of the hotel was very noisy on the beach. The first two days a breakfast buffet was offered, which was absolutely in order, but no large choice was offered. After that there was no buffet, why we don't know. Instead, you could choose a la carte between three menus. It is recommended here to have breakfast (e.g. Cafe Tropical) to have some choice and variety and to drink a right coffee. The staff was always friendly when you spoke. There were daily beach towels for hotel guests free. The beach before the hotel is not recommended as there are very many boats and tourists coming out and arrive, and the bathroom is only very limited.
We found everything we had hoped for in our Christmas getaway at Castaway Resort on Koh Lipe. Beautiful garden setting only steps from the beach. Amazing snorkelling right in front of the resort (but don't miss diving with Castaway Divers too). A lovely, attentive team takes great care of the resort and guests, we loved hanging out at the restaurant overlooking Sunrise Beach for hours on end. Castaway Resort quickly turned into our tropical home away from home for our 10 day stay. Super family friendly und unhurried atmosphere, even during their Christmas peak. We hope to be back! (We booked our stay+scuba diving directly via email and their fabulous reservations team handled everything perfectly, including our minivan/boat transfers).

GGuest UserI originally booked the Summer Resort Hotel for two nights. After staying there for one night, there were too many mosquitoes and the slope to the beach was too scary to walk at night. I decided to change to the Broca Saglan Hotel the next day. When I got here, I found that it was basically a hotel. Everything exceeded expectations. The room is big, the bathroom is big and there is a jacuzzi. It is just a few steps away from the beach. The beach is so beautiful. There is a shoal you can wade through when the tide is low, but you must be careful of sea anemones and sea urchins next to the rocks. Basically there are sea urchins
It should be noted that you must use a mosquito net when sleeping at night, as there are many small flying ants
GGuest UserIf we have to pick a place to name paradise on earth, surely it would be the Cliff. Rooms with spectacular view of the sea, with a lot of privacy, excellent for couples. We stayed in the room with a jacuzzi and it was incredible. It is located in a remote part of the island, but the Resort provides a transport service to downtown. Also, if you like to walk, the resort is 10 to 15 min away walk through the beach. The service provided was the best that we had in Thailand. It has its own private beach and it has free snorkeling and kayaking gear to use whenever we want. The Restaurant in the hotel serves very delicious food, the quantity and the quality of the food goes according to the price. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Both, the front desk and housekeeping team did an incredible job in order to give us the best experience. And we have to name the resort Manager, Charlie, who was always there to help us and advise us about what to do on the island.
GGuest UserLooks quite new compared to other hotels, a/c works all the time even when you go out and take a card key which is very nice. And it cools down the room incredibly, a must in April and May.
We liked the room but there’s an area for improvement: you can see some impurities here and there: old bedsheets with stains, the tub in the bathroom with some part falling off. They are not big, but better to fix them.
The breakfast is amazing, a lot of options, even the noodles station, the roti station, ice cream and bloodie mary station hahaha
A lot of good fruits such as rambutan, passion fruits, etc. not just watermelon and dragon fruits like at other hotels across Thailand.
Sunrise beach itself is a bit disappointing because of the amount of boats there and almost no place to swim but this hotel has the designated beach where you can enjoy swimming and definitely some good sunsets.
Overall it’s a good place to stay for more than a day if you want to stay at the sunrise Beach area, but my personal favorite is the North pole beach (20-25 min walk along the beach).
Things to improve:
- service staff should be careful with bags, I know they try to be helpful but one of the guys broke a handle of my carry on bag.
- Starbacks cafe on the beach — this is a disaster, they advertise other as a Starbucks coffee shop, with the original drinks and recipes but for 180 thb they will give you iced milk instead of iced cappuccino. Better to buy some good medium roast beans from the Borth of Thailand and serve proper coffee. You don’t need that Starbucks brand definitely.
PpiasureeAbsolutely amazing location. We’ve stayed in beachfront bungalow, spacious, clean, comfortable bed, had everything in the room more than we needed. There were indoor shower and outdoor shower, separated doors to go in room, through the front door and another directly to the bathroom (in case we came in from swimming all wet and covered with sand), so we did not dirty our room. Cold towels and fresh welcome drinks when we’ve checked-in, polite and friendly front desk staffs. When we’ve entered the room, it was cool with some aroma that made us feel relax. The breakfast was great, many choices of Thai foods and changed everyday. Staffs go out of their way to make us comfortable and feel at home. Beach in front of the hotel was beautiful, quiet, we can swim and snorkelling there. Walking street was near, we’ve walked there everyday, sometimes just for have some iced tea and thai pancake (Thai Banana Roti). Take a boat trip, it’s worth doing! Definitely recommended this hotel! Staffs are the best!
GGuest UserThe location is very convenient at the pedestrian street. It is clean and tidy. Most of them are backpackers from Europe and the United States. The service attitude is good and there are free drinks and snacks. It is very suitable for independent travelers.
GGuest UserI decided last minute to come to koh lipe. The price looked good and it had good reviews on another travel site so I decided to give it a go for one night, then figure out what to do next. I would have stayed longer but another really hard to book resort opened up. I decided to extend my island visit and came back here for my last day. Everything looks new and clean check in was a breeze. I booked one of the bungalows with air conditioning and has a little deck with table and chairs plus a hammock to relax. You do have to walk along the beach to get here. It's just a few minutes walk to the walking street entrance where most boats drop off. There are restaurants and bars for on the sand experience an even shorter walk away (monkey bar has fire dance show daily) My only complaint was power plugs are not next to the bed as I was here on a worcation. This really isn't a place people go to work so it won't matter to most but figured I'd call it out. I suspected it was the case based on the photos on agoda.
GGuest UserThis is a wonderful place to stay if you don't want seafront. It's only a 3 minute walk to the beach if you want to watch the sunrise and five minutes away from Walking Street. The rooms are a generous size and cleaned every day. The place is clean and tidy and staff are always on hand to help with your every need. The pool is cleaned every morning and no restrictions on when you can use it is a plus for me, as I'm up at 6.00 a.m. and can swim for an hour before breakfast. The breakfast itself is simple but adequate - we went at low season so this maybe different at other times. To finish on a positive note there is a pick-up and drop-off service to from and to the ferry terminal - we called it our own Executive Transfer. Those who have experienced this will know what I mean!
Thank you San Pita for a wonderful experience.
GGuest UserGorgeous! Let’s break it down: Room - we stayed in the deluxe Balinese hut and loved it. Didn’t have the outdoor shower like the Pattaya Mali but huge and clean. If I’m being super picky the shower could do with a bit more power but it is a small hotel on a small island so it’s fine! Comfy beds and regular fresh towels provided. Pool - we usually don’t use the pool as we are beach bums but it was THE perfect temperature. Very refreshing and cooling in the hot sun, with lovely foliage around giving a tropical vibe. Beach - stunning Lipe beach. As with most beaches on Lipe you do get the long tail boats parked out the front, but definitely more quiet than Pattaya side. Tide goes right out and exposes a lot of coral so beware if exploring. Loved the complimentary paddle boards and snorkels! Food - really good. Good choice for breakfast and ate most lunches here. Recommend the Massaman curry! Overall a beautiful tropical paradise. We would recommend and want to stay at the other Mali too! One thing: bring mozzie repellant.. the island seemed to be teeming with them!
GGuest UserKoh Lipe is highly dense with resort and hotels. Walking along the sunrise beach (from Serendipty to Mountain resort), I could see not even a meter of the beachfront is left vacant. Though staying in Ko Lipe is expensive than average Thailand standards, I am sure places of all sort of budgets are here for beachfront stay. However several were way above my budget, couple of these had worse reviews and most are too far from Walking Street. I tried to optimize on cost, reviews and proximity to walking street to end up booking Breeze Resort. It is not a beachfront hotel and do not have sea view. From Pattaya beach a 2 minutes walk on the paved way next to Akira Lipe resort took us to Breeze. With a lush garden and well maintained grasstop, it is a two storied property with balconies opening to the garden. We had booked ground floor garden facing rooms. The room was decently sized, bathroom was neat, linens were clean and balcony had two easy chairs. The room could be better illuminated in the evening and bathroom could be a bit more spacious. It was well functional with a small freeze, a locker, a beach towel provided and and 2 umbrellas in place. The resort has kitchen and dining area functional only during breakfast. So we could not have other meals here and for that we had no issues to walk down a few minutes to Walking Street. The breakfast (came with the booking) had 5 set menu options - 3 kinds of english breakfast and 2 kinds of oriental breakfast. I can't say that the set menu had wide choices or super tasty. However, the oriental breakfast menu with pad thai was better than english breakfast. The vegetarian set menu was rather silly. To use the locker/safe, they took 500 THB as deposit. Language was a big issue and we had to use translation apps to convey our words quite regularly. But the ever smiling faces and helping attitude was not lost on us. When we arrived they picked us up with a motorized vehicle from the drop off point at Pattaya beach. After checkout also, they saw us off with 2 motorized vehicles at Langkawi Immigration point next to Bundhaya Resort. Overall a nice 4 days with happy memories.
GGuest UserWe booked to stay in a fan cottage for 3 nights via the hotel’s own website which had a rate of 900THB per night which seemed better than that on booking engines. First impressions were that it’s a large ‘resort’ right on the beach next to where the speedboat ferries dock and adjacent to Walking Street which is 5 minutes walk away (though we heard no noise from it). There are a range of rooms- cottages with a/c and a block of rooms which also had a/c. There are about a dozen fan only cottages at the rear of the complex. Ours was rustic but clean with intact insect screens and a large bed. The bathroom was half open which was good for drying towels etc. All cottages have a balcony, ours was shaded by trees which kept the room cool though the fan worked well too and we actually slept better than we had in a/c rooms. Only downside to the room was no fridge. It had an old fashioned TV but who watches TV anyway on a Thai island?! Breakfast was included in the price- buffet style with Thai and western dishes. It was nothing special but eatable and enough to put you on until lunch. We liked Ko Lipe and were happy with the room so decided to stay for an extra 2 nights and that’s where we had problems. Again we booked on the hotel website and received a confirmation. We then received an email in broken English which we interpreted as saying the fan bungalows were all full and we would be ‘upgraded’ to an a/c room. We replied that we were already in the room so it would make more sense to upgrade someone else. After getting no response we attempted to clarify the situation with reception. I don’t speak Thai so can’t criticise people for not speaking a foreign language but when dealing with mostly European guests you would expect at least one member of staff to have the basics of English. Unfortunately not. We ended up in a confusion of Google translate messages with a teenage girl who was clearly sick (coughing, sneezing, red eyes and nose) and shouldn’t have been at work. I ended up speaking to ‘a manager’ on the mainland by phone but still couldn’t get any sense from them. Eventually we resorted to replying by email and were eventually told we could stay in the same room. You can go into any tour operator on Walking Street and find staff who speak excellent English. Why the hotel are unable to find staff with foreign language skills is beyond me. My guess is they are employing cheap intern labour from mainland tourism schools which is fine for basic check in and out but they should have at least one person who can communicate with guests if there’s a problem. The majority of rooms seemed empty when we stayed, the exception being the fan rooms which were very good value and always seemed booked out. Maybe the hotel could look at a way of turning off the a/c in some of the bungalows and selling them at a fan room rate? In summary, we were happy with the location of the hotel, the facilities and the room. The stay was spoilt somewhat by a disorgan
