The Dewberry was fantastic. Great place to stay — very comfortable and chic accommodations! From valet to seamless check-in, they know what they’re doing and offered a Covid-safe and classy, fun experience. Location is steps away from Meeting St and all downtown bars and shops, but you don’t even have to leave the hotel to enjoy dinner or drinks in any of the popular spots built in. Valet and in-room bar are overpriced but the staff was great and for a premium, it’s worth it.
The check-in was at the beginning of Christmas and the hotel lobby was very beautifully furnished. The room facilities are also very beautiful and very clean. The hotel is some distance from downtown. The only downside is that an elevator has a faint tidal smell in the room, probably because of the low occupancy rate in winter, which is fine, in short, a pleasant stay.

Pros:
- great location, close to attractions, restaurants, shops
- Wifi works well
- rooms are relatively clean however I found a few hairs here and there
- rooms are spacious enough
- Check-in is at 4pm officially but our room was ready at 2pm so we could check in
- mini fridge in room
- the hotel is nicely furnished and decorated
- 24-hour fitness center
- 2 complimentary bottles of water
- Coffee machine in the room
Cons:
- staff at the front desk could’ve been friendlier
- bed too soft and pillows too thick
- A/C didn’t work properly—the room was either ice cold or hot
Great hotel. Just go straight here next time! It is currently the only hotel worth staying in Charleston. The room is very large. Service attitude is very friendly 👬

DDalton KernThe hotel is a quaint place in the heart of historic downtown Charleston. Wonderful breakfast! However, we forgot a bottle of wine we had purchased in the room and they failed to inform us even though we didn’t get our car from valet for several hours after checkout AND they identified us as the people that checked out when we picked it up. Sure, it was our fault that we forgot it but I expected a higher level of service from this hotel.
RRamzi L.Spent one night at this location driving back from Florida to Virginia:
. Well maintained and clean hotel.
. The breakfast service was great: they even make waffle to order for you and many options to choose from.
. Easy check-in & check-out.
. Location is good: close to everything.
. The room was clean but was missing some trash bags other than all was good.
Will stay here again.
GGuest UserWhen we arrived at the hotel and checked in. We enquired about the breakfast which was included in the booking. We were suprised to find out that there wasn't actually a breakfast. You got this card, and every morning you could pick out one item out of their ”supermarket”. The ”supermarket” was basically a minifridge and freezer, and a couple of shelves. Here you could find little cups of icecream, frozen minipizza, water, cola, and things like crisps and m&m's. This is hardly a breakfast. And you could only take one item, not even a drink and a snack. We said that this was not what we expected when we made the booking with breakfast included.
The receptionist didn't even apologize just stated that the information on the website was old from 2021 and that they hadn't gotten around to changing it.
We decided on this hotel because the breakfast was included. It was a pretty expensive booking. With over 400 dollars per night you would expect at least and nice breakfast or apologies and compensation.
At the end we just took a bottle of water in the morning and had breakfast elsewhere.
GGuest UserThe location is the best for my needs. The service was above and beyond. The complimentary breakfast was very good. I usually travel with my fur baby, this hotel allows this. This time I did not but was just as accommodating. The rate I recieved was very good.I appreciate this flexibility. Great room. Will stay again during Christmas holidays.
Thanks,
Rhonda
GGuest UserThe best things about the Hampton Inn were the location and the hotel employees. The hotel is 15 minutes to half an hour walk from Charleston’s major attractions, including shopping, and twenty minutes from the airport. Charleston is made for walking. It is compact, clean and safe, so we walked everywhere. The attitude of the front desk employees epitomized southern hospitality. The hotel offers free breakfast which is basic, but satisfying. Room cleaning is offered upon request.
twenty minutes from the airport.
RRickCarpet had ripples from bed to bathroom (tripping hazard) toilet tissue holder and bathroom baseboard poorly repaired. Room are not well insulated as we could here upstairs walking around all night and next doors tv blaring at 630am. Breakfast was good, efficient and different day to day. Front desk was very welcoming and all staff we talked to friendly. We still expected more in a quality room from Marriot
郭郭Breakfast is great, with avocado sauce, twin room, can accommodate 4 people, no extra bed, suitable for children, free parking, convenient parking, large swimming pool. Not far from the sea, the manor, and the historic district.
GGuest UserThe representatives were all very friendly and informative.
The room was very comfortable and very clean.
The pool was very nice but a bit cool due to it’s always in shade between the Hotel and the neighboring building.
Complimentary breakfast was a variety. From dry cerial, to hot oatmeal or grits, to waffles to eggs and fried potatoes with peppers. Very Nice.
Only one suggestion would be to add a couple of towel holder hooks or racks so to be able to reuse.
PParkerI am in town weekly, and stay at this location about 90% of the time. The staff has always been most helpful and friendly. Rooms are always clean. Parking is convenient. The only negative that I have, is that the TV’s in all of the rooms are offset in an unusual position, which makes it difficult to watch from anywhere in the room.
AAsyaThe room was clean. The only thing I found wrong is housekeeping left a stained roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. It had some greenish stains on it. Other than that, we’ve enjoyed our stay.
The average price for hotels in Charleston is AED 1,496 on weekdays, and AED 2,086 on weekends (Friday-Saturday).
