Best Mentor Hotels

I recommend this hotel with two thumbs up. Though not new to Holiday Inn Express, this was my first time staying in the beautiful town of Mentor Ohio. The rooms were very clean. I appreciate having on-site laundry. The machines were, I believe $2 a piece. Very spacious first floor laundry room next to the swimming pool. The exercise room is on the second floor. All areas are well maintained. There are ice and soda machines on every floor. In the lobby they sell snacks, frozen food, and drinks. Coffee, tea and cocoa are available free in the lobby 24 hours a day. Continental breakfast is served daily at Marion's restaurant. The restaurant is open in the evening on the outdoor patio. The continental breakfast was more than adequate and the food was tasteful. The hotel is located right off the expressway in an area populated by many restaurants, gas stations, and other shopping stores. The post office is just a few miles/minutes around the corner. I had a king size room and a room with two double beds. Each room came with a desk, two lamps, two chairs, large TV, refrigerator, and a digital clock. Closet space was ample and the hotel provided an ironing board, iron, and blow dryer. I learned the hard way not to keep my room key next to the cell phone, but the staff was always understanding. The desk is well maintained with personnel and they could not have been more accommodating.

Everyone was excellent! They took care of everything. With medical issues, we never knew what was up, but Alesha (sp?) got us a room EVERY TIME! We didn't know if we were coming or going sometimes, but she had our backs. Mark and Greg - go to guys! And Verica was wonderful, worked at my wife's schedule - a special lady: She we will miss the most!!! And don't forget to grab some coffee and a variety of breakfast choices, changing daily. All were great folks! We hope we don't need to come back, but if we do, we'll know we're in great hands! Jon & Alice W

I stayed here twice recently - once heading west and then heading back home. It was convenient to the highway, which was one feature that I was looking for. On my way out there, I was on the phone with the day desk to relay that I might be getting in a bit late, but wasn't sure if I could make it due to snow on the way, etc. He was very professional and courteous and helpful on the phone - it almost made me feel like a friend. When I got in at night, the night clerk was courteous, and everything went well. The room was no frills, and the bed a bit firm, but I slept well with no issues. The room was clean and served its purpose. The staff were good, as the day guy I talked to on the phone was at the desk in the morning and remembered that I was having difficulty in getting there the evening before. I also got a coffee from the coffee bar set up in the lobby to get me on the road. As I was quite satisfied with the room and staff and location - I reserved a room for 2 weeks later upon my return. I upgraded to one with a fridge and microwave since I had food with me. This also had a little writing desk, which I found useful. Again, staff were courteous - the day guy remembered me and greeted me, and the cleaning woman the next morning was very friendly and said that she remembered me from my earlier stay. As it was convenient, courteous and clean, I will be staying here again as I travel through Ohio.

BED BUGS discovered in my bed in the very early morning hours. Management team less than professional, namely Amanda Denning, Assistant General Manager & Josh Ferra, General Manager. Refused to return multiple phone calls and inquiries regarding service recovery requests. Front desk agent by the name of Tessi was less than cordial and would possibly benefit from a high school diploma Or etiquette classes or just a down payment on a new personality. Needless to say, I will never return to this bed bug infested establishment of a 'so-called' hotel. The lack of empathy for their uncleanliness is unacceptable. They basically told me that the compensation (less than I requested for the huge inconvenience) was sufficient and refused to return any of my emails or phone calls after assuring a call back. Cowardly behavior when your hotel is not up to standards is not my issue. Yes I requested 200k Hilton points and only received 100k, but did you pay my cleaning bill to have a weeks worth of clothes cleaned, 'No', can you put a price on the inconvenience of moving to a hotel 30 min away from the work assignment, 'No', can you put a compensation on losing a full nights rest, and 1 day of work after staying up since discovering the bed bug at 2am, 'No'. The hotel management never offered to pay for laundering my clothes and even insinuated that I 'claimed' the room had bed bugs when I actually took a picture of the creature. Good leadership and customer service is still hard to find. Being kind and understanding costs nothing. Be sure what you put out as an individual and customer servant equates to what you want to receive in return. Good luck at the bed bug motel.
