This Motel 6 is so odd. It has some very nice parts. When I first opened the door I was impressed. It looked clean (it is), with modern, new, updated furniture and features (very large new mirror that is backlit, marble shower walls, new modern sink and faucet, and more). The mattresses are firm, but more comfortable than I expect at a motel. They seem to be some type of foam/memory foam. I paid for the more expensive room so that we could have a fridge and microwave. Both are fine. Now, here is why I wouldn’t stay here again: although the furnishings are new and modern, they are odd and mismatched. The two bedside lamps are very different (one very tall and circular, the other shorter and a rectangle). Although we have a room with two queen beds, the room seems to be built for a king sized bed, as there is an outlet directly in the middle of the wall above the head of each bed. This means I can’t easily charge my phone while I’m on the bed. The dresser, although nice looking, is a weird trapezoid shape that juts into the room (I literally can’t figure out what one would use something like this for, or where). The beds are tall (yay!) and have these attractive black walls under them so nothing can go under the bed. Great, it looks good. They are made of metal, and we are constantly kicking them. They clang and sound like if you were to kick a filing cabinet. When you are on the bed, if you move too much, you can hear them vibrating. If you are a light sleeper, this might keep/wake you up. The TV is small (maybe 30” or so?), and uses DIRECTV. We couldn’t get the remote to work. The man in front came to our room and showed us that there is a black wire that the remote goes to, and the black wire needs to sit in front of the box so that the remote will work. There are blackout curtains (yay!) but they are too long and cover the heater/AC. There are no sheer curtains, so when we are in the room we either are on display for anyone walking by, or have blackout curtains closed and rely on fluorescent/LED lights. Bottom line: if it is late at night, you’re driving, and you just need somewhere to lay your head, it’s fine. If you actually need somewhere to stay while you’re here, don’t bother. We’re here for 3 nights, and I can’t wait to leave.

I stayed here unexpectedly after not feeling well after a hike in Pinnacles and needing to rest. The room was really nice and comfortable! It was very clean; the mattress was very comfortable; the pillows, sheets, and blankets were cozy and nice; the towels felt good. It had all the basic amenities you would hope for: fridge, microwave, heat/AC, TV, hair dryer, and nice standard toiletries (including separate shampoo and conditioner, body wash, and lotion). It also had a nice table and chairs, and the room was a decent size. I'd stay here again for sure.

Excellent
AAbdullah NurLocation is good! Although service for 5 Star should be as it is in protocol. I have asked to deliver tea bags which I wanted, they provide in the room very strange flavor which is not common, I have asked via phone to provide me normal English breakfast but I was refused that they don’t have it. I still think with such a price and star hotel should satisfy the customers with any need during the stay in the hotel.
We first stayed here a few years ago. We were instantly impressed with the welcoming staff. We sincerely felt welcomed and appreciated the warm and friendly vibe. This was complimented by the cozy bed and good nights rest. As icing on the cake, we were offered a very generous breakfast the next morning! The staff, location, and breakfast make this stay a home away from home for us. We have stayed multiple times and can't wait to go back. If you appreciate the simple things in life, like a good nights rest, and all that I have mentioned above, then this is the place for you. Sincerely, EC
GGuest UserThey only got 3 stars for service only because my son had forgot the room number when he went to get pizza it was our first day at that hotel . So he went upfront to get the room number and lady at front desk held him there and finally called my room and she said I couldn’t have anyone there that my booking was for one person which it wasn’t I asked her where my son and car were because now she has held him up so long I’m 25 min late for work she says she wasn’t gonna tell me which I was like wtf ? So I went down there showed her my reservation that had two guests. I told her I had to go I was now late for work and she continued to try to hold me up I told her I would come by in morning after work she proceeds to tell me that she was gonna call cops on me for what I do not know but that my boss had to call in 30 min or she was calling the law . I told her that she was in the wrong not I or my son . My son tells me that she told him that she doesn’t rent to …. Pause looks him up and down and tells him people like u . Still I do not know what she meant by that he is a 21 year old kid he is white and has long hair so I’m not sure what she was referring to by that . What is people like my son white ? Cause he has long hair ? Not too sure but that was bothersome to me she said that .. But what I can say is that the owner or manager he called my son to apologize and told him she went to far it was for security purposes her not telling him what room but she took it too far and he made it right . It was a nice room big and very clean from the outside I they look a lil old but it’s surprisingly newly remodeled and spacious rooms
GGuest UserFriendly staff, solid location, decent WiFi and generally clean and has the basics down. Better for sightseeing than for those staying in, I think.
Quick things to note: they don't allow late checkouts, just fyi, but otherwise you just drop your keys in a box to check out. The vending machines are also located in an open area, which is nice for when I visited but could become an issue if it's raining...
The balconies are really nice, and the location is insanely convenient. It's about 10ish minutes to walk to the aquarium, and it's a block (or half, if you go out the back!) to the waterfront. There's solid food and sightseeing options here too.
They do have a decent parking lot, but there's a ton you can see in Monterey by walking, and this hotel is perfect for a lot of those.
What's missing here: a common dining area and breakfast, for one. Rooms aren't cramped but most furnishing is basic. Don't expect anything fancy, essentially.
All that said, it's a solid choice if you're actually going out and sightseeing vs spending tons of time here. And if you do, they have some pretty nice patios and some rooms have balconies overlooking a trail.
KKarenEverything was good except the fact of someone pounding on my door at 1:00am then they took off! It was ridiculously unacceptable as they think it’s funny! Other then that, the view of the beach from our room was spectacular. Well worth the cost. Checking in/out was quick and easy.
GGuest UserLovely big rooms, there would be enough room for a sofa bed that would of made our stay perfect. The room was clean but there was a horrible smell in the room of wet dog. Breakfast was included with a variety of pancakes, muffins, pastry, fruit, cereals, tea, coffee and fruit juices. Great location for the aquarium and there’s a free bus that will take you to Fisherman’s wharf.
JJINA typical American motel with a good location, just across the road is Macy's and some restaurants. There is also a drug store CVS, but unfortunately I did not buy a mask. There is a swimming pool and gym in the hotel, but the pool is small and slightly larger than the bathtub. The gym is also very small
GGuest UserGood value, especially considering how expensive the area is. We stayed at one other hotel north of this one and for an extra $150 bucks it wasn’t that much better. Rooms are a little small but adequate. Having AC isn’t always necessary but when you need it, you need it! It’s close to everything including a great stretch of beach. That’s the only drawback IMO. Rick, the manager represents the brand well!
GGuest UserBecause Carmel's accommodation options are too expensive, I want to say that I chose the lighthouse in the next town. Unexpectedly great! The room looks much bigger than the photos and the facilities are very thoughtful and complete. The fireplace is really nice and warm! !! 17 days in the United States, this is the best and favorite accommodation ~ In addition to the buffet, there is another menu to choose from (there is no extra charge). Many choices are delicious. Most of the other guests are Americans who come for vacation. It's near the sea, and there are deer nearby, suitable for watching the sunset ~~
YYUEThe biggest advantage is that the room is big and the bed is very comfortable, but the room facilities are like an old house in the 80s. Breakfast is only a simple breakfast such as coffee and yoghurt. Even the eggs are not likely to be expensive. Carmel is worth more than two hundred dollars.
