GGuest UserWe made a one night pitstop in Las Vegas, NM on our trip south this summer. We were welcomed and there was even complimentary ham and cheese sandwiches and New Mexico Spicy Vegetable Soup for guests. Having complimentary supper was unexpected and very appreciated. This made up for the less than expected breakfast the next morning. While the coffee was good, the choices were minimal. Previous Super 8's have at least had a toaster and often a waffle maker. Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, and a few packaged muffins were available and appreciated, it just seemed a bit weak.
The person working the desk was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. In the morning we were surprised by the options for breakfast. The had a pancake machine, soft biscuits and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, premade omelets with peppers and cheese, sausage links and turkey sausage patties as well as the usual cereals, etc. The eggs were cooked perfectly and all was delicious. This hotel was well worth the money!
IIvo HI have not left a review on this site for several years, and never a bad review, but my experience at this hotel certainly deserves one. We checked in around 10:30 pm and started settling down in our room. After a few minutes we noticed the room had not been clean. There were used towels hanging in the bathroom, the soap had been unwrapped, one of the beds was partially unmade and the garbages were not empty. My wife called down to the front desk and the person working there stated that they were completely booked and had no rooms to move us to, but would call his manager and determine a game plan. He came up a few minutes later and we showed him the room and he said they were able to find another room but it was a single King rather than two queens. Not ideal but we were traveling with our young son so we were able to share a king with him. He also told us twice that the room would be comped. He was very courteous and sympathetic to our situation. When we went to check out the next morning however, my wife quickly explained the situation the situation to the manager at the front desk and wanted to verify we were going to be comped. We were immediately met with an antagonistic attitude from the manager who told us ”We are not going to comp the room” without apology for our troubles. She went on to say that she never told the clerk to comp the room and he had no authority to make that decision. She was only going to give us a $30 discount for our troubles. Eventually we ended up with a $50 or $60 discount but it was so frustrating. In all my years of traveling I have not stayed at a hotel that showed such a lack of customer care at every level. The only exception was the overnight employees who checked us in and helped up resolve our situation. Even if they misspoke or misunderstood about comping our room, they still showed concern for our situation.
Rolled into town, looking at various hotels and motels to stay at, and there are actually several right close together that are great for a night or two. The Palomino was a very, very easy check-in, the rooms are very clean! The staff was very friendly and the price was under $100. I would certainly recommend this place and I would stay there again.
We saw one price online that was unavailable and when we asked about it were treated like we should know if was only for AAA members? My main issue is that there was a door connecting our room with the next one over. Not a big deal by itself but there was a gap under the door that was at least 2 inches tall! We could hear every TV show and video the people staying in that room played. We figured we were tired enough to block it out which we did until 5 AM when they played videos at full volume. I blame the hotel for knowing the door and gap were there and deciding to put a refrigerator in front of it instead of trying to block the gap with ANYTHING! I would not stay here again if they paid me and recommend others not to either!
