I'm writing this with the framework that our reservation for four days was following Hurricane Ian so that a reader can understand that, yes, we did try to have understanding that some chaos goes along with people in need of rooms. Having said that... I am a local resident of Venice, and was in need of a room after coming back in town seeing some destruction to our home following the hurricane. I arrived just before 3 PM, thinking that was check-in time, but, mistakenly, it was an unusually late 4 PM. I came back in an hour (with no forewarning the first time there were any issues to speak of) to learn that the room was not ready. I was told to come back ”later” (whatever that is interpreted to mean). I could not even be given an educated estimate. I came back at 5 PM, and no room available. I drove around (with 1/8 tank of gas and no gas stations open) and came back at 7 PM. NO ROOMS available. it was only then I was told they were ”short staffed”. I have an open mind. I see the shortage of help all over from restaurants to general contractors to, yes, hotels. The curtness of the personnel I had dealt with and lack of compassion (on their part) is what rubbed me wrong. After questioning why my room was not ready at 7 PM (not a typo), a women stepped into the conversation (may have been the manager?) and curtly asked if I have ever tried to check into a hotel during a hurricane and I was quick to reply yes (Andrew, Irma, and Matthew). I had not ever come to this sort of issue in terms of not having a room available in addition to the clear defensiveness of the staff (referring only to the people I had dealt with). Hotels are QUICK to make sure you check out by 11 AM but not so big a deal to check in well into the evening. My wife and I cancelled our reservations and slept in our car in our driveway for the night. Note: I was forced to make a separate 30-minute call to Wyndham to cancel due to points being used (more on this later). At this point, I've a little bit to now say about Wyndham. I'm a loyal member (actually, Diamond). ”Early check-in”, while not guaranteed, is all but guaranteed at competing brands of which I was also at top tiers including: Marriott, Hyatt, and IHG. If the room is not available (and clearly in my case it was not), then those brands would have a room guaranteed available at the time of standard check in. Always (meaning, including hurricane evacuations). Not the case with Wyndham. They have shown to most always not support their top-tier customers and say that ”each individual hotel is privately operated (ie, franchised), and you will have to contact the hotel”. Ramada handled this poorly, and Wyndam is indifferent. I should have known to avoid a Ramada, having last stayed at a horrific Ramada Inn in Augusta, GA. Never again. Good riddance to both.

This was a great motel conveniently located near a shopping plaza and a few restaurants. It was about a mile to historic downtown Venice. The pool was well maintained and the room was immaculately cleaned every day. The place was reasonably priced and I have no complaints.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite for my birthday weekend. Very spacious and clean. Large bathroom with another large sink area outside of bathroom at the end of the hall. Separate AC for the bedroom and living/kitchen area which was nice. Nice size kitchen with table to sit at. Loved the complimentary breakfast every morning!! Everyday items include hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, a variety of breads (sliced, english muffins, bagels, etc.), cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, PB and J sandwiches, muffins, and the best waffles ever!! There are two batters, blueberry and malted vanilla that you can measure into pre-marked cups to make one, two, three, or four sections of the waffle. The hot section changes daily. We had Mexican omelets with maple smoked sausage one morning and pancakes and bacon the next. There are several juices and milk to choose form and a full coffee bar with a variety of creamers. My only complaint would be that the bed was very hard for my liking and my back did not like it very well. But if you like hard beds, you won't have a problem. Will be in Venice again with the kids and will consider staying here again!
I was pretty disappointed when the lyft driver pulled into the lot. I thought the place looked pretty run down. I stayed for 3 nights. The room was small and not well lit. The room was clean, and had a micro fridge, a microwave, and a decent T.V. Small hand soaps only-no shampoo or conditioner. The AC worked well. There is a laundry room onsite. They have a small outside pool that looked clean. Desk staff was okay at best. Within walking distance of a convenience store, a Burger King and a CVS. Small stand-up shower only. It is what it is, which is a budget hotel. I would stay at a place like this if I was traveling by myself. I would not take my family there if I could afford a better option.
They were the rudest people I ever dealt with I am Hilton honors member since 2008. The people at the front desk were so rude my nephew booked rooms for us because we were down there for a surprise party for my niece. He went over and booked the rooms put it on his credit card he is a Hilton honors member went to check in the first girl said to me what’s your name? I said Butch Griffith she looked it up and said you have to have your nephew come over here and sign you in. I said what this is a surprise party for his wife a 60th birthday party he booked four rooms there, then the general manager come over and said wait a minute wait a minute I see it here what’s your name? I said Butch Griffith she says not under Butch Clarence Griffith. I said they call me Butch I see your credentials. I showed them to her she said well then we can let you in the room, but I’m gonna have to change the name to Clarence show me some ID and I did, so should never happen. I stayed a lot of Hilton. This was the worst experience I ever had when never ever go back there again.

DdmankanWe booked two nights for Christmas 2023 and management blocked out a room with two queen beds and an accessible tub. Upon arrival we learned that our room had been painted and was not available. They did not have another room with two queens and an accessible tub. They also did not notify us before arrival so that we could possibly make other arrangements. We ended up in a room with two queen beds and a roll-in shower. The roll-in shower has no shower chair. The sink has no level surface, and there is no side table to put your stuff while getting ready. The door swings inward so far that it is very difficult to enter/exit and open/close the door. The queen beds take up most of the room in the sleeping area and there is not enough room to maneuver a wheelchair. There is a tall closet for hanging clothes but the doors swing outward so a wheelchair user is not able to open it. The rod to hang clothes is too high to reach. There are no drawers for storage anywhere in the room. Not related to ADA, the shades would not close all the way so there was about 2-3 feet of open window that was not covered. The mattress was not comfortable. The room does not have enough lighting and is too dark. Cosmetically, the hotel is older and has a lot of scratches and dents. It needs a lot more than a coat of paint. We have stayed in a lot of Holiday Inn’s and Express’s, and this was by far the worst. After notifying management, they credited a whopping $50 for our inconvenience. On the plus side, the food was good (they even had sausage gravy for the biscuits) and the staff was very friendly.
