Been here a couple of times, it is a lovely gem of a hotel. Love that it's not a chain, place has real charisma and personality. Cute coffee shop, good included breakfast. The town is really suffering from economic woes, but the diner one block north serves up a nice lunch, Mexican or American. But the last time might be the last time. As usual, made reservations through Dayuse, which was always good before. This time, I didn't call to confirm the night before (because they always had the reservation and Dayuse always sends a confirmation email), but this time didn't think to call until we were 20 minutes away. At this time the desk person said ”we canceled all our Dayuse, we're fully booked.” That doesn't sound fair to me, they found out they could get more money for the room I reserved so they canceled my reservation without even telling me? I asked for a manager, it was Saturday morning, ”the manager won't be in until Monday, but they called everyone who had Dayuse reservations.” I didn't get a call, no email, and Dayuse provides the hotels with all this information. I have had hotels cancel through Dayuse before (then they text and email me), and I've had hotels cancel other types of reservations by text and email. I know it's possible, but that's not what they did. Ruined our weekend, and indeed the whole area was sold out (but I had reservations!). I was so mad, I didn't rush out to write up this review, instead I thought I would wait to 1) cool off and 2) see if I got an apology or even just an explanation. I did cool off and there was no attempt to contact me. I know they had all my contact information, they get that when Dayuse has a confirmed reservation. I NEVER want a comp stay, or even a discount. When a hotel screws up, and if it's an otherwise nice hotel like this one, the only thing they had to do to stay this negative review was to send me an unsolicited apology.
We were very satisfied with the accomidations provided for us when we stayed at this hotel. One of my family members has a physical disability and uses a wheelchair, so we were looking for a hotel with a handicap suite. This hotel had a fabulous one! There was a large roll-in shower and ample support bars on walls. Speaking of showers, the Shower had great water pressure. The beds were very comfortable and pillows and linens were fresh and fluffy. There was a relaxing heated pool on site as well as fitness center. In the morning, we were able to enjoy their Free Hot Breakfast. There was a wide variety of items on the Breakfast Buffet. Such as Fruit, turkey sausage, veggie omlet, biscuits and gravy, several cold cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, cinnomin rolls, cold fruit juices, a pancake maker, oatmeal with toppings, and of course Coffee, Tea, and Hot Chocolate! They have a little area by the front desk where you can buy snacks 24 hours a day. For example, Chips and crackers, bottled beverages and candy. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Overall, we were impressed with how well maintained the hotel was. Very Clean!

Hotel This hotel started out very well other than the room smelled like stale smoke. We were going to Six Flags and got into town much earlier than expected and they allow us to check in early which I thought was great because we were going to have a long day at the park and then we could go straight to the room and go to bed. Nice thought but not quite how it went. We got back to the hotel about 10 PM and our key was not working. We went to the front desk she gave us a new key, which also did not work. The front desk worker went up to our room with another key, and she tried to open it with no luck; she then went down and called her boss while we sat in the waiting area with our two kids (teenage boys 12/13). After about 20 minutes I checked in and were told she was calling maintenance; I asked if they could give us another room so the boys could at least lay down and maybe watch some TV which she was able to do and gave us a room super close to our original room. I waited about 30 minutes and went down to see the status. I was told she called maintenance and was waiting to hear back, but her boss said worst case scenario maintenance would be in early the next morning. I told her we had medication that was needed in that room. She called her boss back who said they needed to wait an hour from that point to hear from maintenance and if they didn’t respond, they would call the fire department to get the door open. At this point we have been dealing with this for close to an hour already and I mentioned that so she said she would wait 15 minutes. Another employee showed up about 20 minutes later (thinking possibly the manager) and he told me the fire department was on the way and they arrived about 10 minutes later. The fire department did an amazing job and got into the room in about 20 minutes. I know this was a very unfortunate event that probably rarely happens; my issue was the initial response of telling me we would need to wait until morning when all our belongings were in the room then telling me we had to wait another hour before they called the fire department. A bad situation that was handled badly. I do feel bad for the young girl that was working the front desk as I think she was working alone and could only do so much. Overall the staff was friendly but management response was lacking to say the least. Both rooms also smelled of stale smoke but to be honest that was less of an issue after dealing with the issue of getting into our room. All this and we still paid full price for our room.
