Spa Hotels in Cologne

This was my first time back since my military days and having travelled through Germany in the 3 years I was here, I haven’t changed my opinion that Cologne is the best city to visit. This time I was here for the FIBO fair and stayed at the Mercure for the first time. As expected it was first class and the hospitality of its staff was impeccable. The hotel is out to the west which means a 20-30 minute tram ride into the main area around the cathedral and river but once you master the payment system you will enjoy the experience, with the trams being on time throughout. The only criticism is that being a fitness person and witnessing others like me staying at the hotel, the gym was poor consisting of only 3 cardio machines in a tiny room. A small set of dumbbells would be a welcome addition and would have justified a 5 star instead of the 4 I have given. Otherwise well done to all the staff for a highly enjoyable stay. The Marriott at Cologne Central Station is not far from the train station, just a few minutes' walk away. It is very close to Cologne Cathedral and Museum Ludwig. The decoration is a bit old-fashioned, but the facilities are not bad. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable to sleep in, and the room is large. The service is good.

The Hotel shows five stars! The room had no wifi whatsoever, although they showed three different wifi lans. Attempts to bridge this gap with mobile hotspots were not helpful. Noises from other rooms were audible, which means a bad noise insulation. Worst of all was that there was first only boiling hot water in the bathroom. This was due to the fact that all cold water supplies were closed. Still after opening them ourselves, one of the two lavatories cold water regulator was not functional. Shocking was that the shower was switching from regulated 38 degrees Celsius to suddenly boiling hot water and then to ice cold water. This made showering an unpleasant not to say dangerous encounter! You judge if this Hotel deserves the five star rating. Our attempt to communicate the shortcomings was prompted with the statement that the maintenance technicians had left! (???)

The best hotel in Germany. The western restaurant on the second floor is especially amazing. You need to make reservations in advance at night. The details of the service are great. The hotel is the official designated accommodation hotel for the European Cup. I was lucky enough to see the England and Belgium players.

Very decent hotel that is my yearly base camp for Gamescom. Very good location for old town Cologne, 5 minute walk from Heumarkt and all the restaurants near the Rhine. Clean and modern rooms, normal size, good business amenities. To get to the Messe you need to take public transport. One huge plus for the Hotel is the wonderful cocktailbar in the hotel that makes the most amazing cocktails, mocktails and bites. Recommended

Pros: Close to downtown, central train station and the cathedral can be reached by tram with one transfer. The spa area was good, with 7 saunas, 3 hot tubs, warm and cold pools and a steam room, so there wa splenty to choose from. One sauna is used for aufguss every hour. Cons: There is NO sound isolation whatsoever between the rooms. I could literally hear the sound of something plumping into water when someone was in the toilet in the next room. It sounded like the walls are made of thin cardboard. They also charged me 8 euros for a bathrobe and slippers, even after I explicitly said I would use my own slippers and they only handed me a towel as per my request. I think I made it abundantly clear that I didn't want to pay for a bathrobe when I suggested I would use my own slippers and a towel which was already in the room, but they still fooled me by handing me an extra towel and making me pay the full price. So it looks like they will take every opportunity to take those 8 euros from you. They should just say up front that spa entry costs 18 euros and not 10, because there is no way to avoid paying those 8 euros anyway.

The room is very spacious and clean. The lobby of the hotel is very fashionable and atmospheric. There are many shortcomings. The room only provides free bottled water on the first day of check-in. Clean towels are only provided on the second day. Did not replace with a new one the next day and did not leave a new tissue 🧻 4-star charge without 4-star service

Very good, engaged and friendly team! Even if not everything was perfect, it would be immediately and friendly corrected. The hotel rooms (Superior) very comfortable, according to the level, very clean. The beds are very good. The garderob is large enough for a few days. In the bathroom we missed an enlargement mirror, a safe entrance to the bathtub (to shower). If the windows are open, you hear clearly the inner channel street, but you know who books the hotel if its good location. So no criticism! The location is very good: 500m to Aachen Street, 1000m to DB railway station West/Venloer Street. The breakfast buffet very, very good, great diversity at absolute freshness. Also here the staff very friendly and attentive. To mention the gym and spa on the rooftop, well equipped, sauna you need to keep login in time. A total of very recommendable hotels whether location, equipment and service. We were there once before.

Just an absolute great experience staying there easy to find from central station. The staff are very welcome in. Everything we requested before we arrived. Was there just the overall great day and a great great location. Definitely want to stay there again. Would recommend this to anybody.
