This was our third stay at the Cellars. This stay we booked a different room, this time in the Hohenort building, adjacent to the Manor House. Our room was on the middle floor. Upon walking in, it was beautiful. It included a verandah overlooking the pool. Not once was the umbrella opened or the cushions put on the outdoor furniture, although when asked if we wanted them to, it was never done. The bathroom was not up par for a hotel of this category. There were no windows, the shower grout was moldy (tends to be standard in many hotels in South Africa), the water pressure was weak, and the worst was the slant of the slippery shower floor. We remarked about it and were told that they would get us a rubber mat. It never arrived. The second day we asked to be transferred to another room, preferable the one we usually stay in. We had to stay in the Hohenort room one more night (the new room wasn't available yet). That particular day we did not have evening room service. Not a big deal but an indication of confusion. I will also add that both nights we were in the Hohenort room, the neighbors above made a lot of noise, walking around, etc. They checked out the following day, but that night the same type of noise persisted. We both mentioned it to the management staff who were surprised. We know what noise "sounds" like, and this was noise. Not talking but the sound of furniture moving. We did feel a bit fussy when we were told nobody had ever complained about this, but what can they say....Our move to the other room was smooth and the reception staff were more than accommodating. The rest of our stay was fine: good water pressure, little or no mold in the shower, and a window in the bathroom. We will gladly return next year really think that they need to address the safety issues of the showers and the staff communication.
