Altair Motel
4.1/524 Reviews
I was responsible for organising a get-together of touring motorcyclists from SA, Vic, NSW, Qld and the ACT where I live. Riding the sinewy roads of the Snowy Mountains was our objective, Cooma was our base. I did a recce of several motels in Cooma and chose the Altair because it met numerous of our requirements: comfortable rooms, very good off street parking for our bikes, away from prying eyes; located within a short walking distance to places to eat & drink, good coffee and supermarkets; an excellent centrally located, raised, covered veranda for socialising when we weren't riding; a very welcome group discount on our room rates. Friendly staff, from the front office to the team of cleaners. All in all, a great experience.
IMotel AU

I chose to stay at iMotel because Tripadvisor reviewers had universally given it a 5-star rating and because it was $20 to $25 per night cheaper than other motels in Cooma. I'd been warned by Tripadvisor reviewers I would have to climb stairs and that spoken English was not a strength of the couple who run the motel. Both warnings were correct. I've given it a 5-star rating too. O.K., the room is small, it is dated and still in need of some renovation (the ensuite's ceiling has peeling paint, for example), it is basic, it is upstairs, the managers don't have the greatest English conversational skills...but...it was clean, it was quiet, it was comfortable (basically comfortable that is - this is not a 5-star luxury hotel!!), the bed was comfortable and had 2 sheets (not just one sheet and a doona cover - things like that are important in my opinion), I could open a window (also important to me), the tea/coffee and bathroom supplies were excellent, it's right in the centre of town (so close to pubs, restaurants, etc, which many of the other motels in Cooma are not), and the managers were extremely helpful (I'd actually booked for the wrong date - no problem, everything is OK!)...and I saved at least $20. I decided that, if I have to stay in Cooma again, I'd happily stay at iMotel again - so it deserves my 5 stars.
Redhill Cooma Motor Inn

The room was great and spacious. Two bedroom family room tv in each room 1 with 2 single beds. No passing traffic where our room was. Love the locality. Across the road from McDonald's and KFC as well as a Chinese Restaurant. Close to the Cbd which is in walking distance. Very quiet. Friendly staff.
White Manor Motel

Excellent booking experience with receptionist Nilmar who was very helpful and efficient. I advised I would be a late check-in so my room number & entry code were texted to me providing a seamless check-in experience. My room was well appointed and the bed very comfortable, ensuring a good sleep. The shower was excellent and the pristine Snowy Mountains water was very refreshing. Highly recommended!
Snow Season Motor Inn

I guess for $380 per night we just expected somewhere clean with a decent enough bed to get some sleep. Unfortunately this place didn't come close. The room was filthy with a huge smeared tomoto sauce blob down the wall, old socks from previous guests on the floor, torn dusty curtains, tea cups with crusty dried food on them and mouldy rotting bathroom walls. By far the worst part was the beds though. My guess would be 30+ year old mattresses that could only be likened to laying on a slate foor. Woke up both mornings after a broken 2 hours sleep feeling like death with every inch of my body aching... just what you need before driving 1.5 hours on treacherous mountain roads in the snow! If you are considering this place as an option. DON'T DO IT. pay the extra to stay at Jindabyne or look for somewhere in Tumut, as this place will ruin your trip... To the owners - show some respect to the guests paying thousands of dollars to stay at this dump and invest in some new beds, a few bottles of spray and wipe, a dishwasher and some paint.... that money might be better invested in just bulldozing the place though.
