Residence Inn Cork

Lovely hotel. Nice and clean the a good breakfast. Perfect location for the city centre. Would stay again.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Mark Tobin at the Residence Inn & Moxy Hotels in Cork for his outstanding customer service. My sister, a recent widow, and I were traveling with her daughter—who is studying abroad in Ireland—and her son. When they arrived at the hotel, they discovered that all the rooms at the Moxy only accommodate two people. As a Titanium member with over 100 nights at Marriott last year, I travel frequently, yet I had never stayed at a Moxy before and didn’t realize this detail wasn’t clearly stated on the website. To complicate matters, both the Moxy and its sister hotel were fully booked. The only option given was to book a second room, which wasn’t ideal for their situation and would have doubled their travel budget. Since my sister arrived first, she called me in tears, unsure of what to do. That’s when I reached out and spoke with Mark. He was smart, kind, and incredibly resourceful. Despite the sold-out status, he went above and beyond—checking carefully until he found a solution. He located a room at the Residence Inn that was out of service due to a minor issue (a hairdryer needed replacing) and was able to move us there. This completely saved the day and made all the difference for my sister during an already emotional trip. Instead of simply saying, “We’re sold out,” Mark took the extra steps to find a solution—something that should be the gold standard in hospitality. His efforts should be recognized and celebrated. Marriott prides itself on exceptional service, and Mark truly embodies that. Thank you, Mark, for your professionalism, kindness, and dedication to guests. I hope Marriott acknowledges and rewards your excellence!

We stayed here for 4 nights on a break away. The hotel is brilliantly located right by the city centre. The breakfast was very good and the rooms were spacious and very clean on arrival. Our room had a kitchen which was kitted out with everything that we could need for a short stay, and was nice to have an option to make your own food. The room even had a feature where you could stream from your phone to the TV which was very helpful. All staff we met were very helpful and pleasant, especially Svenia who could not do more to help us during our stay. We met Giselle on checkout who was also very helpful and pleasant. Overall, a brilliant hotel, would definitely recommend if visiting Cork.

You’re paying here for the amount of space in the rooms, especially the kitchenette which is very well equipped, so perfect for a longer stay should you wish to cook. Breakfast is included for everyone and is very good indeed. I found the front desk staff to be exceptional. Particular mention to Aisling who made me a complimentary coffee whilst I waited for my room, a lovely touch!  The gym, shared with the Moxy, is small but well equipped. The free laundry facility is particularly useful for those travelling for longer periods. There is plenty of space downstairs to sit, but the space lacks any atmosphere and isn’t somewhere that you’d want to sit and have a drink, so heading next door to the Moxy is a better bet. There is good recognition of Marriott Bonvoy Elite members, with my only criticism being that nothing in the food and drink market has a price, so it’s impossible to know how much you might spend. Providing a price list would easily fix this.  I imagine this hotel will be popular with corporate travellers on longer stays, but if the idea of a larger room with kitchenette appeals, this hotel is worth forking out for.
