Good location, within walking distance of del duque and la caleta. The hotel is looking tired and in need of modernisation. The beds were extremely firm, I requested a mattress topper which was nice and thick, but didn’t improve my sleep. I ended up sleeping in the kids bed as it had a memory foam mattress, which was so much better. The pillows are really old and lumpy. The walls are very thin and we could hear our neighbours TV and phone conversations. The water pressure in the shower was very good, but the temperature fluctuates constantly and burnt our little boy on the first day. The room cleanliness wasn’t great, there was a wet cloth left on the floor in the room, the glass doors had smears and marks, the bathroom had soap scum left on the tiles in the shower. The buffet breakfast and lunch was really average, we swopped our half board to lunch instead of dinner and we ate out every night. The wait is times on the food at the fresh food section was not acceptable. Chips being served at breakfast is so odd, I understand your rotating food options, but still… The hotel is well situated on the shoreline, the waves on the beach were beautifully dramatic. The pools were all fine, just bear in mind only the kids pool is heated. The grounds are all well kept, there was work being undertaken on the rockery/waterfall area near the kids pool and snagging jobs internally such as filling holes in the walls in the hallway near the restaurant. The service was fine, no issues. The check in time could be quicker. The cocktails weren’t freshly made, they were just out of a machine, for the price of them I would have expected them to be made fresh. We didn’t feel like this hotel was value for money in the kids half term (£2,300 for x6 nights for x2 adults and x1 6 year old half board) and won’t be returning until the rooms are modernised and the food improves.
