Bahia Calma Beach

Amazing holiday in Costa Calma! ️ Can’t recommend this apartment complex enough, such good value for money & a true hidden gem! Thank you so much for a lovely stay and for gifting us a bottle of lovely Prosecco for my sisters birthday Only things to note about the surrounding area are that there aren’t too many restaurants in Costa Calma so it would definitely be worth hiring a car for your trip! Beaches are unreal and weather was beautiful.

The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the complex itself was well kept. However, we had booked the deluxe sea-view apartment which I expected to have a decent terrace or balcony. We were at the back of the complex, our bedroom overlooked the hotel car-park, so the sea-view was very much in the distance from the terrace only. The terrace was at the top of the stairs to the door of the apartment, it would be classed as a landing at home, as it was as wide as the stairs up to the apartment, then a tiny section next to the top of the stairs, it was ridiculously small. Although sun-beds were provided you would have to put the table and chairs (also provided) in the apartment to use them, so the sunbeds sat up against the wall unused all week. Due to the location we didn't really get any sun at the apartment, so we literally sat on the "terrace" when we came back on a night for a quick night-cap. Fortunately, the location is very close to the beach so within 10 minutes we were on Costa Calma Beach. This is our 2nd visit to Fuerteventura this year, and we were in Costa Calma a few years ago so we knew we wanted to be near the beach and just have a relaxing week on the beach, which is what we got. Whilst Costa Calma is quiet, there are 2 nightclubs and a couple of bars with live music (Surf Bar and Pirates) and they were very loud and could be heard inside our room until the early hours. I wanted a cheap and cheerful week which is what we got, but I would look at other self-catering closer to the sea-front next time, as this didn't quite make the mark.

Despite what one or two say about the rooms being tiny for a family of four. They have picked the cheapest option. We went for the apartment that was like 70 euro extra for the whole 5 days and it was extremely spacious. Kitchen was well stocked and a few freebies. The balcony/ terrace was perfect and the breeze blowing though the apartment makes it so you don't need air con with a few windows open at night the breeze is constant here and will keep you nice and cool. The swimming pool was our favorite though and the bars cocktails were spectacular. Would love to stay here again highly recommended.

Amazing! So accommodating, staff are super nice & speak good english. They were so helpful to sort a taxi for us to the airport. Beach is very close & it's in a street with lots of shops & restaurants right by it. Only downside is that there was no air con in the room & that the shower drainage isn't very good which meant taking a shower was rushed as we didn't want the bathroom to flood! Apart from this we had a very good experience & would recommend!

María Martínez, director of the Hotel, proposed a 4-day getaway. We can never thank you enough!!! The facilities are very cozy, the pool is just outside the room and the beach is just a one-minute walk away. We took a buggy excursion, watched the sunset from La Pared drinking a passion fruit mojito grown there, had dinner at El Pellizco, a future Michelin star, and played paddle on some nearby courts. Can you ask for something more??? Yes, come back soon to continue enjoying Fuerteventura, an island of great charm, and the wise advice and recommendations of María Martínez, excellent host at the Bahía Calma Beach hotel. Great option for a long weekend or longer stays. A wide range of leisure and sports activities and the possibility of simply letting life pass by.

We went and stayed at Bahia Calma Beach from the end of August to beginning September 2023 for 7 nights. On arrival reception staff were friendly and helpful. We booked a double room though I think we ended up with a balcony as a pleasant surprise. On arrival the room was clean and tidy. We had self catering accommodation. There was a hob, microwave, kettle, standard utensils, fridge with small internal freezer section. There was a net-door which allowed a cool breeze to come through and block any flies etc. We had no flies and no cockroaches at all. Indeed elsewhere in Costa Calma we did not have any issues with flies or cockroaches etc The swimming pool was literally a 5 minute walk away. There was a large spa shop (groceries) which was open till 10:00 p.m. each day which was also a five minute walk away. It has everything you need. There is also a 2nd spa shop, 5 minutes walk away from reception the other way (though that one closes earlier/at different times). There were plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes' walk. Although a lot of the cuisine is based towards seafood and meat diets, there were vegetarian options and you won't have any issues if vegetarian. Though please note if you are vegetarian most of the packaging in shops does not include v for vegetarian or any other dietary needs, unlike in the UK. A 10 minute walk away is the beach which is absolutely stunning. It is a very long beach, yellow sand (unlike the black sand of beaches on other Canary Islands). Whenever we went to the beach there was hardly anyone there. There are free seats for you to relax on the beach which is a really nice touch and makes a change to be somewhere that doesn't charge you for simple services like this. There is a beach hut " Beach Bar Aureola" (not linked to the hotel) that also serves light lunches, beers etc during the day. There is also another grill/meal /restaurant/ bistro "Restaurante Costa Beach" just along from the beach hut (also not linked to hotel). This restaurant is very classy and literally seaside beach views, as you right in front of the sea Other restaurants we liked were:- "Restaurant Mamma Mia", "B-side Cafe" (which does a lovely vegetarian burger). Plenty of souvenir shops nearby. The weather was extremely hot every day we were there, so plenty of opportunities to get a tan and enjoy the pool. There was also a continuous breeze which made outdoor strolls relaxing and very pleasant despite the heat. All staff, for all of the venues, including the accommodation, were very friendly. The cleaners were also very friendly and did a good job. Costa Calma is a popular destination for different nationalities including a lot of people from Germany. There were also Dutch, French and English people and a lot of the menus had English translations and all the staff we encountered, including in the shops, spoke good English (which puts us English to shame with regards to our ability to speak different languages).
