Comfortable well equipped cottage, located at the end of the Manifold Valley, mid way between the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek. The cottage is situated in a quiet cul de sac on the edge of the village and benefits from an enclosed rear garden with patio furniture and a private drive providing off road parking for two vehicles. The Manifold Trail which is a surfaced track suitable for both walking and cycling runs for 8.5 miles between Waterhouses and Hulme End. Other cycle and walking trails within the area include the Tissington, High Peak and Monsal Trails. Lovely walks are available along the many miles of footpaths and lanes within the surrounding area and the network of surfaced trails and lanes within the area make the cottage an ideal base for walking all year round. Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud and the pretty village of Ilam are less than a 15 minute drive away.Historic houses and gardens within the area include Chatsworth House with its farmyard, adventure playground and the many events held there throughout the year; Haddon Hall, Tissington Hall (restricted opening) and various National Trust properties including Sudbury Hall with its museum of childhood, Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Biddulph Grange Gardens. Carsington Water which is within easy travelling distance of the cottage offers water sports, sailing, cycle hire, fishing, a children's play area and a bird watching centre with several hides, or you can just walk around the reservoir (a full circuit is around 8.5 miles). Two miles north of Leek is Rudyard Lake with it's miniature railway and activities on offer include walking, fishing and boating. Tittesworth reservoir, also near Leek, offers walks and water sports.
