Courchevel 1850
My experience at Lake Hotel Courchevel was extremely disappointing. My family and I have been staying at this hotel annually since 2015, back when it was a Mercure hotel. However, this year, under the management of the 'Happyculture Group,' the quality of service has significantly deteriorated. Although the hotel maintains a 4-star rating, my recent experience would barely qualify it as a 3-star establishment. The breakfast was extremely poor. On the first day, I had sausage that tasted sour. I raised the issue with the staff, but they insisted it was okay. However, the following week, there were no more sausages, indicating an ongoing problem. From the second day onward, the availability and quality of food rapidly declined. Only scrambled eggs were available, with no sausage or bacon. Even upon request, basic items like bacon were not provided promptly. Promised items such as yogurt failed to materialise, with staff blaming end-of-season issues, which I find unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. On the fourth day, the breakfast situation reached its nadir, with a severe lack of both hot and cold items. Despite raising my concerns repeatedly, the staff offered little assistance, passing the responsibility back and forth. Items that the staff agreed to provide was not even ordered which I can see they do not take the customer seriously. The staff Maria also requested me to leave negative feedback to the hotel with the photo record so that the management can follow this up afterwards. On the fifth day, hoping for improvement, I arrived early for breakfast, only to find the situation unchanged. There were no fruit, ham, bacon, boil egg, yogurt, etc. When I approached the manager, they acknowledged the poor standards due to the end of the season and agreed to waive the breakfast charges for the full duration. For the sixth and seventh days, I didn't bother complaining anymore, but the breakfast standards remained dismal. We ended up having only coffee and juice, which we could have easily made in our room. I wouldn’t have made the complaint if the breakfast was waived as agreed by the manager. However, upon check-out, I was surprised to find that I was being charged the full breakfast rate. After clarification, the manager changed his stance, offering only a 50% discount, citing technicalities. This abrupt change in resolution felt dishonest and lacking in integrity as it was confirmed the charges will be waived altogether. Furthermore, the housekeeping standards were abysmal. The room was not properly cleaned, with dirty cups, unemptied rubbish bins, and debris strewn across the floor. Soap and linens were not replenished, and the overall cleanliness was unacceptable for a supposed 4-star establishment. My eye has got infection after sleeping on the uncleaned pillow. After infection on the following day, I requested for the sheets to be replaced but no attention was given and after chasing for the 4th time, it was only attended after 2pm. And I

Courchevel 1550
Our first visit to Courchevel stayed 3 nights at the Ecrin Blanc Resort which sits on quite big grounds, has a spacious lobby / reception and a nice decent breakfast area. Before going into my detailed review, I would like to give a big compliment to the ladies at the hotel concierge especially ”LANA” who was amazing in explaining everything, helping us, sorting out our reservations and just being so helpful and kind throughout our stay. - Location: The hotel is located in the middle between 1550 and 1650 - a 10 minute walk either way - and sits right opposite the town's aquamotion centre (swimming pool/spa etc). There is a bus stop right outside the hotel, which was very easy to commute to 1850 - takes about 15 minutes and passes through 1650. It is also possible to walk to 1650 (10 min walk) and take the Telecabin (called Grangettes) that takes you all the way up to 1850 - to go up you need the paid for pass but coming down is free. There is a ski shop rental on the same grounds as the hotel which makes it very convenient to get your skis and full equipment. You can also buy the ski pass from the conceirge (with a 5% added charge). For skiing, you can go direct on a chair lift right outside the hotel but it is more for advanced skiiers...so we never took it. As its hard to walk with Ski equipment we took the bus to 1850 and then skiied from there. Overall i would say the location is ok given the above options, however, to really feel you are in a ski in/ski out resort it would be much better to be somewhere near the Grangettes in 1650 or in 1850 itself. Other feedback: -The hotel was very clean, room was nice and cozy. - We took the room with a balcony but to be honest the views were not good at all and we barely had the feel that we are in a mountain/ski area as the beds faced the opposite direction and not the direction of the views. -Concierge was great - ability to buy passes and rent skis on grounds was very good -Breakfast was basic but good. -Acquamotion free access may be good for those travelling with kids and want to use the slides/water area. For us as 2 adults we didnt really feel its special or something we want to use everyday.
