Fountain Inn by Greene King Inns

This hotel is dirty, doesn’t feel like it’s been cleaned properly in a very long time. It is in urgent need of needing renovating. Only positive I can take out of this is that it’s in the town. It’s a shame it’s a let down because the pub is a lovely cosy pub, however the hotel is a massive let down and I would avoid at all costs!

Just off the RedJet to visit family and had an excellent lunch at the Fountain Inn. Great atmosphere and a friendly place to relax. Nicki was our server, cheerful and accommodating. Food was quite good and there was a good selection of beer and other beverages

Great welcome from Nicola, Andy,Nicki and Mimi!! Its a grand old Inn , with good accommodation to suit everyone. Prices very reasonable. We were in Room 2. which was plenty big enough for two (Booked. at last minute). It was a side facing window so not a great view! But so comfortable! Big size bed, cosy duvet and pillows. Plenty of storage! Bathroom small but functionable. shower over bath! Breakfast was smashing, plenty of everything, super service with Nicki. Bar, well stocked and well run by Toby and Sue etc. Lovely stay ❤️

Just spent the weekend at this hotel, some observations. Firstly positives - comfortable bed, clean sheets and towels. Breakfast good service. Issues: The hotel needs a clean and a paint. All areas are grubby with peeling paint etc. My bathroom was not clean. The toilet was a disgrace - there were marks on the seat (which I wiped off), the sealant at the back was stained yellow, under the rim must never have been cleaned. The leather headboard had no leather left on it.. The curtains let in all the light at night. Also not nets / blinds meant I had to close the curtains to get changed. My room was on 3rd floor with no lift or help with luggage - this must be made known as not everyone will be able to manage this. There a bar next door that has music late - I was woken up a few times. Unfortunately on arrival, the smell of urine from the bar toilet hits. Our check-in was not smooth with some issues on our booking which took some time to resolve even though we had the confirmation of the details already paid for.

My husband and I ordered an Indian sharing platter, it was the most uninspiring meal we have ever had. It consisted of mini Indian bites (not the usual size you have in a takeaway box) the flatbread were absolutely rock hard and we couldn't even eat them, I could have early prepared this at home for a quarter of the cost and had a much lovelier experience, very disappointed won't ever order food from their pubs again!!!

Was in the attic- curtains didn’t cover windows, very stuffy and low ceilings made it difficult, shower was barely usable due to attic ceiling. Old fashioned brown furniture and foam pillows . The bed was comfortable but due to lumpy cushions and heat barely slept. Great food choice for breakfast and great service was a plus otherwise book elsewhere. For a chain hotel it should get a refurbishment to modernise it. Shame as a great location and staff seem to care.
