Firstly, this is not an English friendly hotel! Very few staff members speak english, very little food is labelled in English, and no tours are in English. The evening entertainment is also not in English. A few lovely members of staff spoke English to us and made us feel welcome, but I would not recommend this to English families. To start with the good things: Hotel grounds are absolutely lovely and very well maintained. The pool looks visually very nice but is very cold! The hotel rooms are really nice and very clean. The entertainment staff and bar staff are lovely and friendly and made the stay very enjoyable. I would like to say a personal thank you to these staff that made us feel welcome, took the time to sit and have a good conversation and a laugh with us. The sports and activities on offer were fun and enjoyable, however given the size of this hotel, more frequent activities and games could have been organised. Perhaps water polo? At 5pm there is 1 sports tournament lasting 45 mins. They could do with more frequent organised sports throughout the day. The evening entertainment was good, however if you are staying longer than a week you have to watch the same shows again Now for the not so good things: Firstly the food! The pizza station and some pasta dishes is the only decent food they have to offer. All food is served cold, despite it appearing to be in a hot holding? Majority of food is not labelled leaving you questioning what it actually is. Avoid if you have an allergy as you will have no chance finding out if it is safe for you. Not to mention no food is covered in the buffet, meaning flies and wasps are landing all over it. The food also becomes very repetitive with breakfast every morning been identical. A bit of variety would of been nice Secondly, I would not recommend this hotel if you wanted to explore out and around Calabria. There is nothing to see anywhere near by! We were advised by the hotels trip organiser to book a coach trip to tropea, he sold the trip well to us we decided to go. He forgot to mention that this hotel is the first pick up stop on route. So a 50 min drive to tropea turned into a 3 hour drive stopping off at 9-10 hotels on route! Not to mention there is no toilet on the coach, and the coach driving was extremely reluctant to allow a toilet stop. After a painful coach trip, you get to walk around the back alleys of a town with not much to see for 3 hours. And then back on the coach for another 3 hours drive back. The drinks on offer are very limited but are nice. They could do with offering a larger range of drink choices The spa offers a very nice and relaxing massage. However I prefer to be informed prior to me stripping down that a male would be giving me a massage. Maybe this is just an English culture thing though? Finally, a point for hotel management: if you are taking large bookings of school children and work groups, maybe consider ensuring they don’t overtake the hotel
