Top 5-Star Hotels in Curral Velho

We stayed here the end of January. The hotel is immaculate and tidy, the staff are busy constantly and polite. Food was plentiful, something for everyone and considering they are in the middle of nowhere they have a massive variety of fruits, meats, seafoods, breads etc. The Italian was amazing, Asian for us was a let down. Book your restaurant as soon as you can to avoid disappointment as the time slots go fast. Drinks were basic and cheap, no brands to upgrade to. The pools are not heated, very cold and off putting to get in. There’s plenty of sunbeds and towels. Take a towel peg as it’s quite breezy. The breeze was no problem it was quite nice and made sitting in the sun more bearable without shade. The beach has some little huts where you can buy gifts and we also had a massage on the beach, that was amazing! The sea is very choppy and the sand hits your legs hard with the breeze so if you want to walk wear something to cover your legs. Hotel shops were overpriced, €29 for sun lotion, €6 for crisps. Take your own snacks & toiletries if you can. Also there are cats everywhere, cute and well behaved but if you have allergies it’s worth knowing. There are no lifts so if you have pushchairs or mobility issues mention this on your booking. This is the ideal holiday for people who don’t mind doing nothing but being by the pool & eating/drinking. It’s in the middle of nowhere, nothing really to see outside unless you pay for a day trip. As nice as it was there, I wouldn’t say it was 5 star and I wouldn’t go back. But for the price and for a January pick up it was ok.

First time visiting the RIU karamboa and what a experience it was. From checking in to leaveing the staff have been nothing but friendly, the cleaners, receptionists, bar staff, entertainers etc..... All very polite, happy going people. The food is amazing, such a variety aswell. Food I've never had and it was spot on. The pool bar staff are the most entertaining people you will ever meet, bar opens at 10:30am and from opening to close they are always smiling, laughing and singing to the music, they just make you feel so welcome. The hotel it self is 5* rated and we've had a 5*service throughout, amazing 10 days we've had and will definitely be returning when the new refurb has happened. Obrigada :)
