X.O Art House

We were booked into XO by our agent for three nights. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast good with a wide choice of fruit, breads, jams nuts and other cold offerings. The only hot choice was eggs served by a delightful lady. Wear your coat to breakfast as it's a covered courtyard with a patio heater so can be quite chilly. Unfortunately aside from the bed the room was not good. The bathroom was tiny and it's door had to be closed to use the rest of the room. The only heater was over the bed so the bathroom was always cold and the towels were always damp unless they were brought into the bedroom. A plus side was the room lights were nice and bright, but on the down side no bed side lights which was a shame if one person wanted to read. Our room was 101, located by the entrance hall and stairs so was very noisy particularly from the wooden floor upstairs. The hotel does not give a key for the front door so you have to ring a bell to gain entry, the bell was just outside our room so expect to hear it ringing through the night. House keeping was poor with used cups not cleared and the soaking shower mat not replaced ( we sorted ourselves every day). We needed the dexterity of an octopus to lock the room door as the frame is too big for the opening and the lock closes on the the outer brick wall. Strange. Reception is mostly not manned but there is a person to open the front door 24/7, if you need to speak to someone in English there is a number on the front door. To finish on a positive the location is good and there was a nice selection of snacks in the room and access to water and tea in the breakfast room.

I loved staying at XO Hotel, not only because it was adorable, but also it was so beautifully located while also being quiet and safe. The staff was also amazing and made us to-go breakfast when we had to leave at the crack of dawn for the Inca Trail. The heating panel on the ceiling was a great touch, as well as the in-room tea and snacks that were left for us. The breakfast that is in the courtyard in the morning is also wonderful and has many cold and warm options. Will absolutely want to come back and stay at XO when I come to Cusco again!

Due to an error in our booking we ended up at this hotel for three nights. Communication is somewhat challenging even with google translate, most of the time there is nobody present other than a security guard who does try to help but finds nobody answers his calls when he rings people for support, the superior deluxe room we had paid for was next to the main road on ground level and had the breakfast room directly outside the door meaning sleep past 545am was challenging. Earplugs were provided. Rooms are clean, staff when present are friendly, breakfast is ok, the egg chef is very friendly and kind and made our stay much more pleasant. Essentially it's an average hotel with comfortable beds. Location is reasonable.

We stayed at X.O as part of our Mountain Lodges of Peru Salkantay trip. This hotel lived up to the high standards we came to know of MLP. Very comfortable and safe, with a lovely little courtyard, in a convenient location just moments off the Plaza. To say the service is superb is almost condescending...the people were so welcoming and earnest and delightful, even as I tortured them with my lousy Spanish. Accommodated my special requests with generosity, like leche caliente for my coffee. The place is absolutely spotless; we saw the caretaker careful pick over every plant so not a dead leaf was visible. The fresh flowers on each table were perfectly beautiful - how do they do it? Mine never look that fresh:) Excellent full breakfast. I was so happy to stay in this boutique hotel versus a huge luxury corporate property

Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city, lovely staff and the owners are on hand 24/7. Excellent breakfast, massive clean rooms. Will highly recommend. Ideally located for the main square and all the cultural buildings. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby too
