Howard Johnson Plaza Jindi

Highly recommended! A rated five-star hotel truly lives up to its name. We arrived quite early and there wasn't a suitable room available, so they immediately upgraded us to a larger room (which was perfectly spacious). All our daily needs were met, and they even offered pear soup at night because Datong's weather is so dry, showing great respect for every guest. The breakfast buffet was absolutely fine in terms of quality (there's a photo of the breakfast knife-cut noodle chef). I also particularly recommend the hotel's Chinese restaurant (there's a photo of us taking food to go for our high-speed train). On our last day, we were rushing from Datong back to Beijing to catch our high-speed train. We misjudged our time at Yingxian Wooden Pagoda and Hanging Temple, but still wanted to enjoy Datong cuisine on the train. We went to the hotel's Chinese restaurant, and the lady who greeted us was incredibly warm and efficient. The chefs were also super impressive, preparing our desired dishes for takeout in just 20 minutes. We made it to the train just in time and enjoyed a fantastic meal on board. I just had to leave a review – our Datong trip was perfect! (There are photos of cats at various attractions).

The hotel is very close to the ancient city, which is rich in history. The meals on the eleventh floor of the hotel are delicious and the service is excellent; the staff are outstanding. The breakfast is delicious, a mix of Chinese and Western styles, and the staff greet you with smiles, truly a five-star standard. Manager Liu from housekeeping has a great attitude, and I won't even mention the rest. In short, this is how five-star standards are achieved – and there's no distinction between people, whether high or low, rich or poor.

This hotel has a classic, old-school charm, and it's good in the traditional sense. Our high-floor room offered excellent views (we might have gotten lucky and were assigned a room overlooking the ancient city). It was well-equipped, despite the slightly outdated design (e.g., fewer bedside outlets and a manual, classic-style toilet), spacious, and clean. The housekeeping was very thoughtful; they replenished amenities based on our usage and provided a fruit plate, pear soup, and a kind note daily. The breakfast buffet was satisfying with a wide selection and comfortable ambiance. The à la carte Chinese restaurant, in particular, left a deep impression with its unexpectedly high quality and great value for money (the dishes shown are all small portions, so please excuse my photo collection, which looks like a restaurant review, haha). All in all, a great review!

The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Datong is excellent. The facilities are comprehensive and spotless, and the environment is exceptionally clean. The service from all staff is warm and hospitable. What truly stood out was that after a day of sightseeing, Ms. Guo Liu would offer a refreshing pear-sugar drink, which was perfect for cooling down and relieving fatigue. Plus, its proximity to the ancient city is a huge advantage; for just one yuan, you can take a bus to attractions like the Nine Dragon Wall, Daiwang Mansion, and Drum Tower. It's incredibly convenient.

The room facilities are a bit outdated, but the service and location are excellent. The breakfast was very good, and the Chinese restaurant downstairs is also decent. You can see the old town right from the room, and parking is super convenient.

A truly memorable hotel experience! The staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast spread was diverse and delicious. The Chinese restaurant offered great value for money with tasty food and a beautiful, elegant setting. The only downside was that the hotel facilities felt a bit dated, but they were still comfortable.

The hotel's location is great, the service is warm and welcoming, and the hotel itself feels grand. They even offered complimentary welcome fruit, which made it excellent value for money. The breakfast was delicious, and the Chinese restaurant was also fantastic. Plus, it's only about a ten-minute walk to the ancient city.

Located just outside Datong's old city walls, this hotel is clean, well-maintained, and offers good service. The breakfast spread is quite substantial. It's also very convenient for visiting the old city; you can take bus route 59, which also goes to the city's Drum Tower and other attractions. Plus, it's easy to catch direct tourist buses from here.
