There is a sign in the reception that says “oasis of Medan”, and it is! It is such a beautiful place, very clean! Rooms were good, clean and spacious. There is a swimmingpool that is very nice and also clean. Not many people there as most are out on tours during the day. So it felt like we had it all to ourselves. Which is amazing with kids. The restaurant Omlandia has a big variety of local and international food and it was excellent. The staff is the nicest we have ever met. Always smiling and so helpful. We will highly recommend this beautiful hotel!

On the fringes of Medan, this is a wonderful place to be away and yet less than 30 minutes from the city center, depending traffic. The rooms are spacious and well located on child friendly grounds. The open air restaurant is cool and serves delicious Indonesian fare (ask for the more spicy alternative). Derk and Diane are experts on Medan and reliable travel agents for Sumatra through Trijaya. Their son Roderick is going to take over and should start refurbishing and change the lay-out of the bathrooms, otherwise, this would have been a 5 star experience.

We spend the first and last night of our holiday at Hotel Deli River and definitely recommend to start your Sumatra trip here. It’s a warm Indonesian welcome with an European touch. The rooms are very clean and spacious, perfect for a rest after a long flight. But the highlight for us was the garden; it is amazing with several places to relax in private. The onsite restaurant has a beautiful architecture where we had the best rendang during the whole trip! The staff was also very friendly and helpful during our stay.

Would definitely recommend this hotel! It’s a peaceful oasis within Medan’s busyness and the perfect place to relax after hours of traveling. The staff was the friendliest we’ve had during our whole trip, always willing to help. The room was very beautiful and comfortable, as were the dining areas and the large pool. From within the pool, you have a beautiful view overlooking the jungle. Also, we loved the breakfast buffet with a range of options, with both sweet and savory options. We also had dinner there both nights, because of how delicious and affordable it was. Wish we could’ve stayed a bit longer!

The hotel was quite nice, but the restaurant not so good. I ordered a black pepper beef to my room, and it was the toughest meat I have eaten in years. So tough I just gave up chewing and put it back on the plate. Th breakfast we paid for was a bit boring.

Our stay was exceptional from the beginning with the driver meeting us at the airport and taking us to get SIM cards on the way - those little things that help in a new place. The hotel is an oasis in Medan, surrounded by greenery and grounds well maintained by the staff. The pool overlooks the river and the staff will bring any drinks or snacks down there for you. Rooms are comfortable and spread out across the property. The restaurant is first class and affordable. Overall it was a luxurious and relaxing trip and the family who runs it are super knowledgeable on Medan as well as the rest of Sumatra. Will be back next time I’m in Medan - so much more of Sumatra to still explore.
