We stayed at this hotel given its proximity to Little Caesar's Arena since we were in town for a Red Wings game. It is about a 7-8 minute walk to the arena and we had no issues coming or going. The hotel itself is on the newer side and it was lovely. It requires key card access to the rooms, which is nice and adds to the safety. You can choose to valet park your car, but it will cost you $48 per night! I think that big cities charging excessive valet parking fees is ludicrous in general, so I am not dissing this hotel in particular. The down side. We chose to valet park our pickup truck and it was parked in a garage behind the hotel. The garage is a SOMA parking garage, so not technically owned by the hotel from what I understand. But PLEASE be leary of this garage as our truck was broken into overnight! The garage had nice metal gates that opened and closed upon entry and exit, which made it not easily accessible to pedestrians (or so it seemed). I did see a pedestrian door but am unsure if it stays locked or unlocked. So, I have no idea how this happened. We then had to go through the hassle of filling out a police report over the phone for all of the items stolen. Fortunately, everything can be replaced but it's still frustrating. I am certainly not saying this will happen to anyone else, but just be aware that the hotel will take no responsibility/accountability even though they choose to park the cars in that garage.
