Upon arrival at the hotel, our stay started on a sour note: the front door was locked and after ringing the doorbell three times, we got no answer. Only after a third call were we helped and given a code to get in. Once inside, we found our envelope among a series of others on the desk – containing the room key, the same code for the door again, and a brief message about breakfast. The room itself was tidy at first glance. The bathroom is very compact, with a sliding door that you have to move every time to close off either the toilet or the bathroom. We soon noticed a strange smell, which later turned out to be a clear sewer smell. In a corner above the toilet, we saw a large, moldy hole in the ceiling. Not surprisingly, there were air fresheners scattered everywhere. The evacuation plan in the room was not coordinated with the room numbers – our room was 110, but on the plan it was marked as number 4. Moreover, the entire building is a maze of corridors and small spaces. In an emergency like a fire, we would seriously doubt whether anyone would find the exit in time. On the positive side, on day two there was a friendly staff member, Danny, who provided breakfast and added some personality to an otherwise contactless experience. Check-out also had to be done online – practical, perhaps, but again very impersonal. In short, this hotel misses the essence of hospitality. The poor reception, impersonal approach, hygiene issues and unclear safety instructions mean that we unfortunately cannot recommend this stay.
