Inconvenient and spartan. I guess there is a certain charm. I couldn’t find it. The one thing every hotel should be able to do is provide good internet. There was no thought for this. Internet was slow and unreliable. Why? Can the owner not afford a router? The whole place smelled musty. Host was friendly and meant well.

We booked in June for September and paid in full in advance. We arrived just before 5 pm and neither room was ready. One was ready after nearly half an hour, the other more than an hour later. However there was a pleasant welcome from the hosts. This wonderful ancient house is on a very steep cobbled street and then has steep stone steps up to it. This makes this accommodation unsuitable for some disabled people. There is a steep climb up to the house from the port area, but the climb up to the main town as about five times longer again. Free parking is about half mile away, so you have drive either up or down the steep hill to drop off the cases. It is bed and breakfast only. There many restaurants in the port area, but many others are up in the town, and so are not easy to reach unless you drive. Breakfasts are very good and the rooms are clean, although there is a musty smell in the ground floor room. One of our rooms had TV but had hair-dryers. The furniture is comfortable but not smart, in keeping with the character of the house. The garden is a nice amenity, but for us wifi reception was only available in the garden because of the house's thick walls. The rooms were not serviced during our stay.

This ancient house is located in the most photographed street in Dinan. You will be no more than a fifteen minute walk from most attractions. A bit of a climb to the old town (the climb is a bit of a workout) this location is also very close to the port. My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The antique furniture matched the house, however, the amenities were all new. I had a great breakfast served in the second floor. Wifi was excellent in the second floor but in my room reception was glitchy. If I am ever back in Dinan, I would certainly book here again.

The accommodation is unique, excellent and very beautiful. Breakfast fantastic. Beds very good. Highly recommended for location and total experience. It is very near both the old town and the river so you get the best of both worlds. Lots of restaurants nearby. We drove and parked the car nearby without a problem.
