Dornoch Hotel

Amazing friendly staff doing their best to accommodate us.

If you’re headed to Dornoch you should strongly consider Dornoch Station. Incredibly unique hotel with terrific food and great “hang”. We were there to play Dornoch Golf Club. The hotel is a short walk to the course. Our room had an incredible view of the course and the water beyond. Wonderful breakfast in the morning. Just can’t recommend highly enough.

The sumptuous splendour that radiates from every sofa, high backed chair and furnishings in any one of the cosy lounge areas as you enter the Station Hotel, the calm and friendly welcome that quietly begins your stay, the reassuringly comfortable and tastefully plumped bedroom and invitingly pampering bathroom, all help to relax you as you embark on the perfect retreat in the warm embrace of the Dornoch Station Hotel. We held our wedding at this beautiful hotel in April this year and we will treasure this time forever. Bob, Stephen, Marius and their team of friendly and helpful staff went above and beyond to make our day - and our entire stay with family and friends, simply perfect! They could not have done more for us or our guests - they were all so lovely! The staff were the most friendly, charming and accommodating people you are ever likely to meet. It was an utter joy to spend time at this hotel. We were quite emotional leaving the Dornoch Station; it had felt like a home away from home! The food was mouth-watering, superbly presented and always delicious. The breakfasts were simply the most perfect way to start your day. If you are considering the Dornoch Station as a relaxing weekend getaway, a longer visit to explore the magnificent surroundings, or indeed, your own wedding venue, look no further. Every aspect of the hotel was sumptuous, the food exquisite and the service seamless and polished. We are already looking forward to our next visit; not just for the hotel comforts, but the very warm welcome we know will be waiting. Thank you!

Wonderful old hotel. Location is great - very quiet yet walking distance to town, walking trails, and golf. The view of the Royal Dornoch course and the sea was fantastic. We did not eat in the restaurant, but bar menu was quite good. We really enjoyed the public spaces - room to socialize or find a quiet nook to read. Very comfortable standard room and wonderful shower/bathroom. Staff was helpful.

Disappointing stay impressive first impression but let down by poor dining and service especially at breakfast where we waited a long time to be served and then not getting much attention to detail and watching other guest arriving at their table after us but getting served before us very poor waiter service definitely not silver service standard

We were really excited about staying at the Dornoch station and sadly it didn’t live up to our expectations. We were on the second floor at the end of a corridor which had the most unappealing smell. Housekeeping was based beside the room so not sure if this was the reason. The windows and fire door were kept open which we assumed was to alleviate the smell. The room was a great size although too dark for my liking, also lacking was an area to style hair. I assumed due to the recent refurb that I wouldn’t have to negotiate a step in bath to access the shower, however accept I should have requested a walk in shower. Breakfast on day one was disappointing due to having to chase staff to provide orange juice, glasses, bowls. It also took 30 minutes to provide the tea and coffee we ordered on arrival. Day 2 was much better and on both days the staff were very pleasant. Lastly being charged £16.50 for a glass of wine was a bit excessive in my opinion. Checkout was a long process due to one person being on duty which was quite frustrating as was evidenced by other guests complaining.
