Tenahead Lodge & Spa

A very scenic and authentic Stone built Mountain Lodge & Spa at 2505m high in the Eastern Cape mountains north of Rhodes. Exclusive “old world” charm with welcoming hosts and very friendly staff make this a destination to include on your bucket list for at least two to three days . The Lodge has two comfortable lounges with good WiFi for chilling and reading, all with fireplaces for those chilly days /evenings and a viewing deck with jacuzzi . The breakfast is 5 star and dinner is a five course set menu to tantalise your taste buds. There is a separate Spa overlooking the valley and offering a variety of treatments. 7 Large ensuite bedrooms with King sized comfortable beds, a bar fridge, coffee/ tea station and seating area with wood fireplaces , large viewing windows of the hillside and river , big ensuite bathrooms with bath & shower overlooking the countryside, make this a very relaxing and most enjoyable stay to unwind. 2 Lovely picturesque walks from the lodge enable you to experience the vast beauty and peaceful surroundings of the hills and valleys with waterfalls, indigenous flora and the local birdlife. Don’t forget your binoculars and walking shoes.

6 of us stayed at Tenahead as the first stop of our road trip! Wow, it was extremely hard to leave the next day, really wished we could have stayed longer, but now we have an excuse to come back! We all loved our stay! Staff were so amazing and friendly, smiles all around always! Food was delicious, and being a person who loves food, 5 course portions were perfect! Our tummys were happy! The views were out of this world and our rooms were just pure bliss!!! Definately would like to try winter just so we could experiences more fires and red wine moments. We all will be back!

The location, the facilities and the staff all make this a wonderful stopover. Quiet, with starry skies at night and fantastic views en route make this one of our favourite route stops

The lodge was wonderful and we loved the environment. It’s location in the hills and on the river is spectacular and the sense of peace and tranquility in nature is very special. However, guests must be aware of its remoteness, on very bad roads requiring a 4 x 4.

This is an exquisite breakaway, whether as a solo traveler or as couple. The location is stunning, the lodge is beautiful and the staff friendly. You can relax in your room, or go for a beautiful hike, or go horse riding (no fishing in winter). It's tranquil, and the staff are attentive and friendly. The Spa is not disability friendly (stairs) but they do offer the spa treatments in your room- so win! The lodge is comfortable and homey- well worth a visit.

Excellent break-away, scenery and service. All the staff were extremely helpful and went the extra mile to make the stay even more worthwhile.
