Experience was unexpectedly below expectations.
Checked in and reception staff was adamant to help us set up membership account, which allowed us to easily login into wifi (but could be done without member) - seemed a lil pushy here.
Room seemed to have been just cleaned when we arrived, and it wasn’t locked. Raised this up to reception, and they promptly followed us to the room and confirmed it was cleaned and ready for stay.
That said, the room was clearly only selectively cleant and the facilities were bad. Carpet had dirt, dust, hair all over; toilet had a bad smell and flies; table was awfully dirty. It was only slightly better when someone came to help us vacuum. For the toilet, a staff came to check but seemed to found it to be not an issue as he saw that the ventilation was working. We pressed on the issue of the smell and flies and the staff said will send housekeeping, who never arrived.
Also - calling reception and housekeeping from room phone yielded no response or pickup. We resorted to raising our issues and requests directly with the reception at level 1.
So it seems that the front end service is inconsistent . We can tell the housekeeping staff works hard, so it’s unclear if the instructions from management re cleaning and maintenance, or the expectations of cleanliness, are just too different and not up to standard.
Location of the hotel was arguably the only saving grace, being a 5-10min walk to the metro and a mall opposite. Easy to also get Careem and Uber
