Grand Excelsior Hotel - Bur Dubai

My experience at reception was disappointing from the moment I arrived. The welcome felt cold and unwelcoming. Since I arrived early (around 11:00 a.m.), I was immediately told that my room would only be ready at 3:00 p.m. I politely asked if there was any possibility of an earlier check-in, or if they could call me if the room became available sooner. The response was simply that the room would be ready at 3:00 p.m., with no effort to offer any flexibility or assistance. When I returned at 3:00 p.m., I was then informed that my reservation had been made for one person, even though we were two guests, and that I would need to update the booking online before they could proceed. This could have easily been addressed when I first arrived at 11:00 a.m., but no one asked about the number of guests or attempted to verify the reservation at that time. As the booking was for a room only, I asked whether the reception team could update the occupancy from their side. After consulting a colleague, I was told they could not. I believe management should review situations like this, as they are minor issues that could often be resolved quickly by trained front desk staff, rather than placing the burden on the guest. While someone familiar with online bookings may be able to make the changes easily, others—such as bookings made by family members or elderly guests—could find this frustrating and unnecessary. Having worked in hospitality myself, I believe true hospitality is reflected in attitude, empathy, and customer service. Facilities are important, but a warm welcome and a genuine willingness to help can make a much bigger difference to a guest’s overall experience. Unfortunately, that was missing during my stay.

Overall experience was okay personally and enjoyment cleaning housekeeping thing was amazing but the front office team specifically with the night shift I decided to make an extension for one more day and I've been knocked my door I'm more than four times and security I mean front office the manager on duty was super rude and very disrespectful because of he was asking me to make the payment of a 15 Dirhams only which is a less than $7 money he was asking me and then he said okay give me money now and I give him 100 dirhams and they said he came after a few minutes so even though the door is I do not disturb or any sign this front office didn't even care about it because of only 15 Dirhams it was really disrespectful which that amount they could actually that I'm advising that they could charge from them directly

The staff are friendly and hospitable. We left an item and glad we got it back. The fascilities are old. But it was fine and we had a good stay to rest. Room cleaning is done everyday. Breakfast is same same no variety mostly Indian and pakistani foods.

Here's a polished and balanced review: Overall, it was a pleasant and enjoyable staycation. The room was comfortable, and I had a good experience during my stay. However, I would recommend that the management upgrade the televisions in all rooms, as they are outdated compared to those offered by other hotels in the same category. This improvement would enhance the overall guest experience. Aside from that, I had a nice stay and would consider visiting again.

Staff is rude, No service for customer. I am never going to recommend to other. It was biggest mistake.

Hotel is good. Old but well maintained. Located near High So club in Bur Dubai. 15 walking from Meena Bazaar. Breakfast is not suitable for Indian guests.

The room was not soundproof, and at night we couldn’t sleep because we could hear loud music from the bar below and noise from neighboring rooms.

Service not good , for one issue have to call many times, but action after 40 minutes, Breakfast was good. Location ok, 20 minutes walk away from ADCB Metro,
