Buswells Hotel

We stayed here recently for a family celebration and absolutely fell in love with this hotel. Our initially reaction on seeing one of our rooms was that of disappointment- facing us on opening a bedroom door were two well over worn armchairs seats - but once we settled in all was forgotten. The beds/ duvets/ pillows were so comfie, there were complementary large glass bottles of sparkling and flat water in the room with elegant water glasses and the shower was powerful. Rooms are well soundpoofed and we slept very well. The bar food menu is varied. We had dinner but a gentleman beside us was just having a very generous, delicious looking cheeseboard. The only blip in our meal was when a medium rare steak arrived out well done but it was quickly replaced. There is ample comfortable seating on which to relax on after dinner with drinks. Breakfast service in particular was excellent. The staff were terrific. My omelette was very tasty. The hot food is ordered and served to your table, the buffet food was kept so tidy. There is nothing corporate or generic about this hotel. Its like being in a traditional hotel on the main square/ street of Irish town. Those hotels are treasures with their unique character and personality. Buswells caters for everyone. Politicians, business people, tourists and locals were all in evidence. And it's location is wonderful with a wealth of the best of Dublin cultural institutions ( the National Museum and National Library are just across the street plus the best of bars/pubs at your doorstep. We loved it.

Our second stay at Buswells, we love the location and the cosy homely atmosphere, service is always very good too. We were allocated a room right by the lift but being light sleepers, we requested to change it. Luckily for us there was one room left at the rear of the building which was much quieter so we had a pleasant and restful stay.

Buswells was absolutely delightful! Centrally located to almost all the museums, temple bar and wonderful restaurants! The staff was welcoming as was the decor. I have to say everyone was so friendly and helpful. We did choose the breakfast option and am very happy we did. Def a brilliant stay wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Dublin!

Delightful central location in Dublin close to Trinity College and many landmarks. Very welcoming friendly staff. Arrived early morning off an overnight flight from Toronto. Given coffee, and great breakfast, while a room could be made available. Would definitely return, thank you!

We had a beautiful afternoon tea here, the hotel is atmospheric, the decor exquisite, location very central and service attentive. Food is excellent. Buswells is a Dublin institution and well worth visiting, conveniently located to the National Gallery, National Library and Trinity College.

Room was good bathroom excellent. Had requested vegan option for dinner beforehand(as stated very clearly on the dinner menus). There was nothing available. Dinner...mussels arrived luke warm and cold...when brought to attention of staff nothing was done. Apple crumble arrived ice cold in the middle and took at least 15 mins to be sent back to table. At no point did we receive any explanation or apology for the poor service. We mentioned the lack of vegan option upon checkout but she just said sorry and nothing further was done. I would suggest that you don't advertise vegan options if they aren't available. Don't bother with the dinner!! Ash was a very good waiter and was very helpful but rest of staff didn't seem to have any hospitality training. Breakfast very good aesha very professional. Would return but on bed and breakfast basis.
