Pleasant stay with friendly hosts. Didn’t book for dinner as better atmosphere and menu at The Bridge pub down the road however good breakfast. Decor a little on the shabby side but still a perfect base, relatively priced, to explore Dulverton and wider Exmoor area.

Such a wonderful location , right in the heart of Dulverton . You can explore the town and further afield from here . The hotel is very pleasant, comfortable, warm rooms and very good value for money The breakfast deserves a huge mention , home cooked quality food

Enjoyed our one night stay. Check in was easy and all information we needed given.Room was cosy and warm. Bed comfortable with a nice duvet.. Everything you need. From hairdryer to tea and coffee. The only downside in January was the breakfast room was cold. Lovely breakfast was served.

Very comfortable and cosy stay. Owners were super friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food was great. If you stay on a Monday, and it’s pizza night, don’t miss out - freshly prepared and delicious pizzas. We would stay there again. Thank you!

Thies, Piet, Nicky and all the staff were absolutely brilliant. We were a large group with lots of needs and requests, which Thies and the team helped us without fuss. The hotel itself had everything we needed, nice rooms - nothing too flash, but everything as described. Really appreciated having evening meals sorted and the breakfasts were lovely. A very convivial bar too!

From the moment we walked in Pete was attentive and friendly. He explained everything in great detail and even showed us where to park our car. The room was very well presented and even had little chocolate biscuits on the tea stand. The attention to detail was noticed and carried out throughout the hotel. Food was outstanding with every mouthful full of flavour. We are glad we stayed for dinner which although took time to prepare was well worth the wait. The chef came to our table to make sure everything was in order and to make sure we were happy. It can be typical for British people to be asked if their food is good and for them to reply it is, when it isn't. In the case of our stay this was never an issue. We thoroughly recommend The Lion hotel both to stay at and to eat the wonderful food. Thank you to Pete and his family for providing such a wonderful service.

A friendly welcome and wonderful service along with comfortable rooms. The location is great, right in the heart of Dulverton and the food was very tasty indeed. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I stayed for three nights and would not hesitate to return.

We had a lovely few days at The Lion and were looked after very well by Thies and Chris. The room was very comfortable, and lacked no provision. The meals were exceptional - cooked interestingly and imaginatively, using fresh ingredients. We recommend this family-run hotel without reservation.
