This was a 10th Wedding Anniversary getaway that my wife and I had planned a while ago. It was also a very rare occasion where we were kid free for one night. Safe to say we embraced the experience as best we could. We purchased the Spa and one night stay package, which included one treatment and full access to the spa, a two-course evening meal, a breakfast and one night in the hotel. Overall verdict for everything - fantastic! We arrived at the hotel around 11:45 (Spa access started at 12:00). The receptionist was lovely - very welcoming and she made us feel right at home. We were allowed an early check-in and told that we could walk down to the Spa in our robes. We were given lovely bags filled with robes, slippers and towels - all great quality. The Spa - out of this world. Again, lovely staff that couldn’t have been more professional. The facilities were the best I’ve witnessed (and I’ve been to a few Spas). There were an array of saunas and steam rooms, genuinely about nine or ten. There was also a relaxation pool, chill out areas (including water beds) and a very nicely heated jacuzzi. We ordered food and drinks which were also good. No faults whatsoever - words don’t do it justice to be honest. The full-body massage was an appreciated added bonus! The hotel - grand and luxurious. Our room was decent - by no means five-star but it had all the mod cons and most importantly, a comfortable bed. The jacuzzi with a TV was amazing haha. This was all topped off with a bottle of Champagne and card from the hotel staff - what a lovely gesture. Again, nothing of note to complain about. Treated like royalty. The meals - the evening meal was superb. I opted for Pigs in Blankets with a Honey and Mustard dip and then a Mushroom Tagliatelle for my main. I made space for a couple of pints as well. Again, as per the running theme, the staff brought over two complimentary glasses of Champagne to congratulate us! So generous. The breakfast was okay but the experience wasn’t quite the same as the previous night. The waitress ignored us and we weren’t offered any hot drinks - it wasn’t overly busy either. The breakfast items were a bit naff as well, mainly because it was a buffet and the food wasn’t overly fresh. That aside, it was one minor negative over two days of complete luxury and positivity! We’re already planning our next visit. Very much a hidden gem which until this year, we’ve completely overlooked. An amazing place!
