The room is quite simple, but it has a kitchen, reading room, etc. It is cheap and you can cook.

Rooms are lovely. However when I stayed, 2 Chinese men came into my room whilst I was in the shower. Receptionist didn't seem to care. Now I have written my review on Google, the owner has called me a liar about it. First they said I never stayed there, then they found my name from few years ago and stated how they didn't believe me. I will be making sure this review isn't pushed aside and I will not stand being called a liar when I'm not.

Staff were rude on the phone. It was like entering a prison. Check in was a nightmare with lock. Wi fi didn't work. The toilet wasn't clean before I came disgusting. The room hadn't been hoovered before I arrived. Decor looked 50 years old. Staff didn't care when I raised my concerns.

This was a nice place to stay. Only hassle was walking up the stairs with my bags. No complaint. An excellent stay for the budget minded. I was concerned prior to staying about the bad reviews but I found this place okay. It is in a prime location, not too far away from the bus and train stations

We stayed in a private, double room, sharing bathroom facilities. The room was clean and spacious, with a comfy bed and a working radiator we were able to adjust. There was no TV, but good WiFi in the room. There are lots of bathrooms in the building, so that was not a problem either, and they were always clean and well-stocked with loo roll. The location is excellent - in Dundee centre, and we had a view looking on to the high street. It's in walking distance from the bus and train station. The only annoying thing was the kitchen: there were always 3 or 4 people in there, whatever time we went in, and almost always people who live and work at the hostel, rather than guests. This meant they were cooking 'proper meals', rather than simple stuff you'd expect from backpackers or travellers. It also meant we had to wash our pans etc before we ate, in case someone needed them in the meantime. They were international students or older people. It would be better if staff had their own kitchen, as the kitchen isn't big - there's one kettle, one microwave, one toaster. There are two ovens and two cookers, with four hobs each. There are signs up about washing, drying and putting stuff away, but wooden spoons don't 'dry' with a tea towel, so they are damp in the drawers. If they cannot make a separate kitchen for staff, I'd suggest adding some simple appliances to one of the many sitting rooms, such as a kettle, toaster and microwave, so at least you could grab breakfast quickly without awkwardly working around everyone in the kitchen.

Walking into s toom that resembled Victoria coach station, couldn't move for suitcases. Sunday woken by a phone alarm in the bed above at 04h30, and on repeat, person was still in bed when I left at 08h30. Second morning 05h30 followed by phone calls. Lockers monopolisedfor personal cooking stuff, bin full of half eaten take aways. Impossible to store any good in kitchen fridges and cupboards full. Kitchen had become a social hub and dining room a work station. OK not fault of the hostel bit the selfish occupants, however maybe staff should be ensuring short stay residents have access to the facilities they pay for and do not have yo put up with pretty much antisocial behaviour. This is my third visit this year and will quite possibly be my last, given my experience, I can't wait to move on

Hostel was fine - everything you need. Staff, however, were beyond horrendous. From dawn they were screaming, shouting, conducting video calls (Teams, Skype, whatever) and doing demented karaoke when folk were trying to sleep. No one slept there. Additional slamming of cupboards and stomping like the Jurassic Park (1993) T-Rex on ‘roids was an added hoot/bonus. And what’s with the creepy peep-hole in the door? Bizarre. Never again.

Great location right on the high street, access to shops and places to eat/drink. Less than a 10minute walk from the train station. Check-in process was fine, just a little slow, check-out was easy. Spacious rooms, with good curtains that keep the early morning light out. Lots of communal space, reading room was lovely. Wifi worked great. Shared bathrooms were clean and convenient, there was enough for the size of the hallway/number of rooms. Beds squeak when moving around, and don't feel very stable when climbing onto the top bunk. Only one light source/switch in room, so someone would have to get out of bed to turn light on/off. Unable to sit up properly in lower bunk bed and out room only had one chair to sit in. Lockers small. Be careful when booking this hostel if you have any mobility issues, it's in a historic building, which gives it a great charm, but the stairs are similar to those found in a castle (winding around), so there isn't much stability.
