Exactly the kind of Inn you want to stay at while in Vermont! We spent 3 nights here and enjoyed every minute! It was centrally located so we were able to venture out each day in a different direction for leaf peeping. I enjoyed each morning in the dining room around the fireplace and meeting new people. The breakfasts and coffee were delicious!

We had a delightful stay; the inn has a warm and also off-beat vibe that made for a week-end where we smiled every moment. The inn is undeniably funky, and embraces that ethos with charm and elan. Dogs are most welcome, and the host's malamute (Neko) and long-haired dachsund (June) were as much of the scene as the owners. The hot breakfast was a delicious labor of love for our inn-keepers Duane and Leah. We will most definitely be back!

We’re part of the cadre of ‘frequent fliers’ here as we visit two-three times a year. We started coming here when they were brand-new innkeepers, and we’ve watched them repair/replace/refit nearly everything thing here at least once. There are fewer, but much upgraded, rooms than before, and we love discovering the latest changes in decor, as there is always something new to check out. You’ll find a wonderful mix of people here, and everyone gets along, because that’s just the way it is. International visitors, skiers and snowboarders, leaf-peepers, couples of all ages from all over the US who are checking out New England, their friends and families from all over, and those of us who won’t stay anywhere else, now that we’ve found our Vermont home away from home. And then, there is breakfast, which everyone raves about (generally more than I can eat). The dogs are chill, Duane and Leah are awesome, the guests are always fun, and this is just the best. Just do it!

We had an amazing stay at the Grunberg Haus! We absolutely loved playing music in our room, relaxing & reading in the living areas and devouring the delicious breakfast each morning. Duane & Leah are fantastic hosts and really helped us maximize our fun in Vermont. We hope to make our way back and highly recommend the Grunberg Haus to anyone looking to enjoy the Green Mountains!

The Grünberg Haus will always feel like home to me. one the most wonderful places we've stayed in a long time. The minute we walked in the front door with the scent of maple and the warmth of a cozy blanket. We stayed in Mad River. Such comfortable beds. WE woke up the 1st morning to snow on the sky light. Spent our 2nd night spinning vinyl and shooting pool. Leah is the most awesome host. Fantastic breakfast. Dogs rule. All I can say is it always felt like home. We will always stay here when in Vermont. Viva Grünberg Haus!!!

We just got back from staying at the Grunberg Haus & if I could I would give it better than 5. We just felt so welcomed at this place. The vibe was awesome & it felt like you were visiting family. The owners are great people & very people oriented. I’m glad my son told me about this place & we will definitely come back & stay here again & again.

Wow. This place was one of the luckiest finds I've had in a while. In a state full of unique experiences, Grunberg Haus stands out as one that shouldn't be missed. From the welcome by Duane, Neiko and June to the final breakfast, we felt like we were home. The inn itself is incredible - an old Austrian style ski lodge meets metalhead and skateboard/snowboard culture. Everywhere you turn there's a new treasure to find, from the literally hundreds of vintage vinyl albums and great old books to old time fishing gear and Duane's impressive snowboard and skateboard collection. We stayed in the Mad River suite, and i have to put in a word for the beds. By far the most comfortable bed my wife and i have stayed in at any hotel. It was awesome. My daughter - a notoriously light sleeper - said she never had a better sleep either. I could go on for a lot more, but one thing I'd add is that every inn is defined by its innkeepers. Duane, Leah, Neiko and June have built something special here. Experience it while you can. It's worth the trip!

We stayed at Grunberg Haus in July 2022. I was excited to stay there but the experience blew me away and we were seriously sad to leave this place. There is a main house and 3 cabins on the property. We stayed in one of the cabins with our dog and it was the best experience we've ever had staying ANYWHERE. If you're reading this review, stop reading and just book it. If you want more info, read on. Location - we hit a few towns and experiences in Vermont and this was nice and central. Rooms - We stayed in one of the cabins which was up on the hill above the main house. Our cabin was stocked with an old school record player, a stack of records to play and was so well decorated. The main inn - breakfast is included. We only had breakfast one of the days but it was fantastic (breakfast tacos) and they also had yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice, and some other items to grab. The main inn has a pool table and awesome community areas to hang out in along with the owners massive record collection always playing something fun. This place is everything you would ever want in a mountain inn experience. Dogs - We brought our own dog with us and it was super dog friendly. The owners have two dogs - one of them is a big 100 lb dog that is the most friendly dog you could ever imagine - Neko. Neko came out and greeted us the second we pulled into the inn and even walked us up to our cabin up the hill. Neko was such a great part of our experience there as we love dogs and Neko was always there to greet us and our pup. Overall value - this place had tremendous value and we will be telling everyone we know to go there if visiting Vermont. It seriously is an amazing gem and you need to just book it. Did I mention you should book this place NOW? Thank you Duane for an amazing experience and great hospitality.
