The Stanwick Hotel
4.4/561 Reviews
The Stanwick Hotel is in a rural location, but within a 15 minute drive of nearby towns and villages with food options if these are needed. The hotel had ample parking. Despite it being winter, I enjoyed having the grounds of the hotel to walk around after my journey. The hotel has a number of chalet type rooms outside the main building, side by side. The entrance was at ground level direct into the room, which I liked. I was able to walk straight out to my car on leaving the room. Only a few rooms appeared to be occupied during my stay, so it was quiet. My only issue with the room was that the key handle/lock appeared rather stiff, and some force needed to be used to raise the handle in order to lock it. The bed was comfortable, the heating worked well and the shower was nice and hot. Breakfast was ordered from a menu, with some self-serve items. Regards staff, an older gentlemen behind the bar wore an elf outfit (it was a week before Christmas), a gardener was maintaining flower beds (in winter), and reception staff were chatty and friendly. I thought all of these were nice touches and showed that care was taken to maintain the hotel and give customers a good experience. Good value for the price. I would stay again.
Peartree Farm
4.5/58 Reviews
Finding myself stranded due to flooding on Christmas Eve I contacted Pear Tree Farm as I was running out of hotel accommodation choices.SO glad I did.Tim and his lovely wife Beverely settled me into The Granary Room of a converted stable block.(All Covid safe).NOTHING was too much trouble for these two wonderful hosts.I felt safe and cosy during my enforced five days of being temporarily homeless. I would recommend anyone to stay here in this peaceful farming environment, horses, sheep and all. Thank you for everything, may you both have a healthy and prosperous New Year.
Travelodge Wellingborough Rushden
4.4/541 Reviews
Outside of Travelodge ( so your 1st impression) still not great as surrounded by a derelict restaurant & a busy petrol station. Reception & rooms have had a slight refurb, bt bath in our room still had chipped enamel & our room was extremely warm & stuffy which made for a bad nights sleep, despite bed being quite comfy as window had to remain shut due to noise coming from A45. As with all Travelodges you can always hear toilets flushing in neighbouring rooms through the night, maybe extra noise insulation could be an option. On the whole the Wellingboro/Rushden Travelodge has taken a step in right direction since we stayed last year with its partial refurb ( only reason we booked again) Did think with Rushden Lakes retail park fully operational they might have upped their standards, but baby steps in right direction
