The Ebrington Arms

Just back from a lovely overnight stay at The Ebrington Arms, celebrating our wedding anniversary. We’ve often eaten here on our many trips to The Cotswolds, but we decided to take advantage of their Winter Warmer package and stay this time. The room (Room 1) was cosy and welcoming, with a comfortable bed, decked out with crisp white bed linen. We were warned to expect some noise from the bar, as our visit coincided with the switching on the village Christmas lights, but we weren’t bothered by noise at all. The food during our stay was top notch as always, and a delicious breakfast. The friendly staff are a credit.

Loved our stay at the Ebrington Arms, the room was clean and cosy, we had Sunday lunch during our stay and the full english breakfast, both were amazing! Really friendly service and a great selection of drinks. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend.

Popped in for coffee & later lunch as we attempt to try out a different Cotswold pub/eatery every week. We arrived 10mins before opening at 12 but were grudgingly allowed to sit by the fire to wait till 12 noon to order coffee! The barman completely ignored us & the young guy who was the server was very busy on his phone. Fair enough I suppose but it made for an unfriendly atmosphere from the off. At 12.03 we had to ask if it was possible to order coffee. Being of Kiwi origin I asked for a Long Black or Americano & was told by the barman in a supercilious tone that they are the same thing. Google it mate. So unbelievably rude. He ignored other customers also. Returned after a walk for lunch. Despite not being at all busy we had to sit in the bar as we had not reserved a table. However a transformation had overtaken the young server who was efficient & polite. The food was EXCELLENT although we both just had a haddock soufflé & fries/chips. We left fairly smartly when the bar area was overtaken by the television. The highlight of the staff experience was meeting the sous chef who was lovely; friendly, chatty & welcoming. He really should be front of house. Your barman in the checked shirt ruined what could have been a 5 star experience in a beautiful pub.

A very mixed experience, hence the 3. On arrival the barman appeared totally disinterested in us. We decided to go through to the restaurant with our drinks and were shown to our table by a friendly young man. A good selection of starters, mains and desserts, including roasts - beef, belly pork and chicken. We both ordered the roast chicken breast which arrived with plenty of perfectly cooked green vegetables, carrots and roast potatoes. Huge Yorkshire puddings too. Everything was delicious except for the chicken breast, which was incredibly salty. Not just on the skin, which we removed anyway, but all the way through which seemed strange. It was so salty I had three mouthfuls of mine and couldn’t eat any more. My husband also left a lot of his. When the waiter came to collect our plates he asked if everything was ok for us. When I replied that I couldn’t eat the chicken because it was too salty he simply exclaimed “Salty?!” As if he didn’t believe me. Nothing else. No apology. No “I’ll let the chef know”Our desserts were lovely. We then waited ages to spot someone to ask for the bill and then another age for the bill to arrive. Then another wait for someone to bring the card machine. In the end I went up to the till to pay. Could do better.

Amazing stay- gorgeous room, outstanding food and service! I stayed in room one- what a pretty place. The team bent over backwards at my dinner- wow it was delicious (order the carrots and Steak!). Breakfast was magnificent, and my check in and checkout smooth. I took a maturities tub soak- and slept like a baby 1 a perfect stay!

The new menu is fabulous. A really good selection for us pescatarians. Every dish was delicious with great sauces and dips. Fantastic environment and lovely staff. Yes it’s not cheap BUT it’s absolutely brilliant. Am looking forward to our next celebration visit. I will dream about the sticky toffee pudding! Thank you
