Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood

Edinburgh Old Town
We walked in with normal legs and feet, but the front desk staff arranged a disabled room without saying anything, and it was a connecting room. We went downstairs to ask for a change of room, and the front desk staff arrogantly said that all the double rooms in the hotel were disabled rooms, and insisted that I had booked a disabled room. We asked the front desk to bring the record in their system that showed that the disabled room was booked, but they refused to give it to us. In the end, we changed to a normal room (so it was not because the hotel had no rooms). When checking out the next day, another front desk staff said that the hotel only had 4 disabled rooms in total, and it was impossible that all double rooms were disabled rooms. It turned out that the front desk staff lied the night before. When the hotel had normal rooms, they changed the normal rooms booked by customers who did not need special support to disabled rooms without asking in advance, and they wanted to deceive customers. I couldn't believe that I was staying at Marriott.

very nice location and service but the room was too cold, maybe it is because the type of heater and the windows are old so wind can come in the room but generally, quite nice place in Edinburgh

The location is quite good. It takes only ~10min walk to the university of Edinburgh. And we are warmly greeted and patiently treated during our stay. Recommend it.
Kick Ass Grassmarket (18+)

Edinburgh Old Town
From the airport I took the Airlink 100 and drop off at Shandwick Place, then took a short walk for about 0.6 miles to reach the hostel at West Port. You could get a view of the Edinburgh castle right across the hostel. There are cafes, diners and bars just across the road. Victoria street is 5 mins walk away. Everything else is just nearby. I was abit skeptical to book the mixed dorm at first but it was relatively safe in overall. Specifically requested for a lower bunk bed due to my leg injury & I was assigned exactly the way I wanted. The room is spacious however it has a funny smell though, probably because it was occupied with 12 people. I was given the room on level 1, near to the kitchen & chill-out room. Mixed bathroom was kinda clean but the yellow shower cubicle's shower was broken. I had to keep pressing the button for the water to run. Everything was great nonetheless. Staffs were friendly. Locker room service was out of my expectation to be frank. I'd recommend friends to stay however preferably ask them to book a private room for personal best interest, and to get good sleep without the ”symphony of snoring”.
The Scotsman Hotel

Opposite the train station is Scotsman. Exit the train station from the market street direction. Cross the road and walk a few steps to the left. You will see a small black door. Click on the intercom and someone will open the door without speaking. Push the door and there will be an elevator. You can Go straight to the front desk. Another way is to go up the stairs next to it. The room is warm and clean, and two free bottles of sparkling water are provided.
Malmaison Edinburgh
4.1/5106 Reviews
This hotel is historic and grand, I highly recommend it. Was once the Harbor Master's house for the port of Leith and it truly holds all of the charm of a historic building, but with many cool upgrades! The area is really charming, just off the water and a fairly quick bus ride to all the downtown sites. Every single member of the staff from the restaurant, to housekeeping to the front desk really went out of their way to be kind, helpful and attentive. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and they truly made my visit to Edinburgh all the more. I highly recommend The Malmaison. Thank you so very much for an excellent stay.
